- Allison sits down with global superstar Damiano David of the Italian band Måneskin who’s deluxe album “RUSH!” is out today. They talk all about his dedicated journey starting in High School, practicing 4 hours a day busking in the streets to his meteoric rise selling out arenas around the world, how he stays grounded, healthy, and humble, collaborating with icons like Iggy Pop & Dolly Parton, how he navigates haters & the dark side of social media, and the possibility of a solo career.

Thank you for this amazing intervieuw Allison!❤
Wow you pronounced the bands name very well! 👍
@@twi9261 Oh thank you so much!
In Italy Maneskin have many haters 🤷
@@fleur5397Why?
I appreciate when he said some don't just pay for their tickets they pay for hotel and airfare to see a show. It is nice to see an artist recognize what fans do just to go watch them.
Absolutely!
His parents and family instilled in him the true values of life. He and all the band deserve all the good fortune and success. Well done. And Allison is an incredible interviewer with an impeccable dialogue.
I'm from Malta and I've been to two of their shows abroad - One of which I went solo. ZERO REGRETS!
I flew from Brussels to Milan to see them because the one in Brussels was completely sold out.
Yes, I flew over 2,000 miles to go to one of their shows, it was definitely 100% worth it
Damiano is the complete package..
Brains, charisma, personality, wicked sense of humour, talent and hot as hell.
Exactly, well said❣
Yes!
And ethical and mindful.
Italian DNA.
You know what they say 🤷🏻♂️
Why too hot, cuz he’s italiano 🤫🧏🏻♂️

It`s one of the best recent conversations with Damiano. Thank you for bringing out his humble, sincere, down-to-earth side here. I love this guy so much!
Thank YOU for being part of the show! 🙏🏼❤️
@@AllisonHagendorf Now with other members hehe
@@Nitoria. I would love that!
YES! He has such a lovely personality. He's funny and smart too - anyone who has him on should definitely interview him (not just sing) - and ask INTERESTING questions! LOL!
Definitely ❤😊
You can tell when one is a great interviewer when one lets the guest speak. You put Damiano at ease and it was a pleasure to listen to him. Thank you Allison (from Italy!)
You just made my day. Thank you so much for being part of the show and taking the time to share this with me!
@@AllisonHagendorf awesome voice you have. Down to earth sexy beautiful smart ...bellllaaaaa
@@tomreed-oe7hi Thank you so much! 🥰
Totally agree ❤
Definitely from 🇺🇸
You can tell that you made Damiano feel comfortable with your genuine interest and professionalism, including not asking about his personal life, that he even felt like sharing something voluntarily at the end (the part where he mentions not liking one night stands). You did a great job!
I am smiling ear to ear from your comment. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Mega Frontman very young full of Talent 💪🇮🇹👍🔝‼️
Damiamo is really an incredible human being. He is clever, smart, sensitive, humble, talented, mature, straightforward and he is olny 24! Also the other members of the band are this clever and authentic. I really hope they all can manage to remain so. These guys are my kids' age, but i still learn from them a lot (I learn everyday also from my kids)
I'm around 43 and I know I've learned something from them.
I’m a huge Maneskin fan, and this is one of the best interviews I’ve heard from any of the members. I’ve had some of these questions and it was so nice to hear genuine answers to really see who Damiano is.
This means so much to me! Thank you for sharing ❤️
@@AllisonHagendorfit’s the best interview I’ve ever listened about Damiano. Unknown stuff.
Yes! I mean, Damiano doesn't really give "Bad" interviews....even if the interviewer is kinda basic, his wonderful personality shines through, but when he's got a GREAT interviewer? Great questions, great follow ups, and I think he felt especially at ease here too - wonderful job, Allison! I followed!
Before this interview, I didn’t know it was possible for Damiano to be even more likable 😱
Right?!!! I know. What a gem!
"We are making music, not saving lives. ...", So humble, Damiano. Evvaiiiiiiii
He’s actually a very smart person. Some of the ideas he shared about the industry, music and even psychology were novel to me, and I’m hard to impress
I’ve never heard him speak for so long and really tell a story without someone interrupting him. Thank you for this interview!! Great questions, too.
He’s an old soul in a very young body! Amazing, cute, genius and wise 🫶
Because he is a Capricorn 😂
What Damiano said at the beginning on how they struggled to grow and to gather people is the same exact story of every italian amateur musician.
Until Maneskin we couldn't think about an italian band going worldwide into the rock industry.
Now we can, this is so inspiring for future italian rockers generation
Not just Italians either, but rockers from many other non-English speaking countries too.
I'm from Italy and I live in Canada. As an immigrant, I take huge pride in knowing I come from the same country as these 4 kids, and the fact that they are still "good kids" is very important for us as a culture, knowing they can be crazy as they are in their 20s but still humble and grounded, and have good values, is so amazing. I am one of those people Damiano mentioned who took a plane and paid for a hotel to go see them in Vancouver from Calgary in October, and they were impeccable, their energy was incredible and I was, again, so, so proud of them. I love them very much and, as you said at the end of the interview, I know this is just the beginning for them.
My lucky stars blessed me with running into them in New York coincidentally in Bryant Park and I was the only fan around. I had like a 5 minute conversation with the band and they were incredibly engaging and down to earth - My respect just skyrocketed after that. Since then I've been to two of their shows - one of which I went solo. NO REGRETS! Also Allison, this interview was so professionally conducted! We don't see this side of Damiano often, so thank you for making this happen! Kudos to you! Damiano is a modern day legend, I just wish that more people appreciate his art as a songwriter. So much emotional maturity for a young adult! He pours his heart and soul into his lyrics and to be able to connect with them, even if you can't really relate, is pure talent. Damiano I hope you'll get to see my comment... If you do, please come to Malta 🖤
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all of this! What an amazing story and Thank you for the kind words ❤️🙏🏼❤️
Damiano is so gorgeous in every possible way - the talent, the soul and the beautiness of course 😁
"Who do you think you are? Paul Mccartney?" 😂😂😂
Great interview, he's so down to earth and smart.
i loved every single second of this interview. It amazes me how smart and humble he is, beautiful inside and out!
I felt the exact same way!
He’s a great artist, but the human being is even better.
From the beginning, he’s expressed his brilliance. When he wrote Vent’anni
, in an interview he wanted people to remember they were only 20.. and to be kind.. made him respect him/them so much ..& to so bold with “love is never wrong” to stand with the oppressed.. full package
This is the best "Maneskin" interview I have ever seen.
I'm always suffering, when they are asked the same question again and again, but the video is never longer than 12 minutes and so even if it is the best question, there is never enough room for the answer.
This went really deep.
Love it!
Thank you for sharing this. Mission accomplished! XOXO
Yes! Most interviewers don’t do any research and start with ridiculously naive questions … and of course he’s/they’re always very gracious
I have to compliment Allison who did the best interview with Damiano I've ever seen. At 26:56 - 31:57, in this part I think Damiano makes it clear how difficult it can be for a rock star to manage his life divided between the stage with the adoring crowd and the private life that he tries with difficulty to resume as soon as the show ends. The past history of rock provides us with many examples of stars who were unable to handle the stress of success and who ended up destroyed by alcohol and drugs, which were anesthetics for them that they resorted to to overcome stress. Damiano (I would say the Maneskin) seems to be a down to earth person and I hope he always remains so. Such great success at a very young age is not easy to handle. And it's nice to know that Damiano, when he can, goes to the stadium to watch his favorite team's football match together with his old friends, and together with them he finds that important part of himself, free from success, a friend among friends . It's not easy to remain yourself when everyone around you adores you: he, they (the Maneskins) succeeded. They are humble and for this reason they deserve everyone's respect.
I was in kitchen with tv on in other room. Never heard of Maneskin. They performed Beggin’ and I liked that it was upbeat. I walked to tv and saw Damiano. My heart skipped a beat when I saw such a beautiful man. Later, after listening to his songs on CZcams, my heart melted from his looks AND his voice.
I love it all. Such feelings when I listen to the lyrics of the songs.
I hope they will please take care of themselves and stay around a while. Music is so important to my mental wellbeing and this is the first group I’ve followed for a very long time.
This Is the most sincere and Deep interview tò Damiano David ever.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Damiano talking is like a music itself. ❤ Thank you for being such a good interviewer. We love our romantic rockstar forever. ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Damiano is such a beautiful human being - His humility and sincerity really shined through this interview!
WOW DAMIANO SURPRISED ME WITH HIS WAY OF TALKING AND THINKING, BEAUTIFUL
The special thing of this special interview is that Damiano speaks in a confortable way as he was talking in Italian😊
31:23 I'm crying, this is exactly what I feel on their shows
(Damiano says they don't save lives - but sometimes they do)
This man is a global treasure ❤
I flew from Alaska to Oakland California to see them in October ❤
Damiano will become a Legend❤❤❤
I love hoe grounded he is. It would be so easy for someone of his age and status yo turn into a complete monster, but he seems to have a real humility about him.
the amazing person he is reflects on every single word he writes and sings, you can just feel he’s being himself with his qualities and his flaws. ❤️
As we say in Italy "Damiano è di un altro passo ". A predestined without any doubt, a star before he knew it
this interview is a sort of a "lesson" (really a masterclass) for nostalgic boomers that want to listen always the same music and artists! Go Damiano Go!
I didn't know much about Damiano but after this interview I like this guy more. Hes quite insightful and smart.
This man is a humble genius!!! His answers are so thoughtful and real!
What a beautiful human being. I wish I had had half his maturity at his age.

I have been going down the Maneskin rabbit hole for the past week. Love the music. Love the chemistry of the band. Getting up to date on their story. What a great interview! Really intelligent young man with healthy perspectives.
What an amazing person to interview. I always knew Damiano was humble, but in this interview he expresses it gratefully. What an epic guy!! All the very best for him and his band❤❤❤❤
I'm normally not someone who loves the artists but more so the art, but I gotta admit I truly love all the members of Maneskin so much
bruh damiano is such a smart honest educated person like he literally talked ab stuff that no one talked ab before and its really amazing to have this kind of conersations where u can get something and get to know the person well as well as educating people ab their job
Damiano has a gorgeous voice ❤
The real fans know how humble and wise grandpa Damiano is🥰🥰🥰 Anyway, great interview I loved every second of it and got to know Damiano a little bit better❤️🔥💗
Ok he is a really good looking guy, no one can deny it..Hands down! But I am taken aback by its depth and his maturity. I wasn’t aware of he being so grounded and witty ! I also appreciate how he has managed to master English in a few time. Apart from too many “like” , he has made giant steps forward ..well done!
The interview confirms the greatness of these guys. It's clear that for us Italians the fact that they now only write songs in English is a bit of a disappointment and not due to a question of chauvinism, but simply because, even according to those who are not Italian, the songs in this language are the best . However, we must understand the very courageous path that this band has undertaken, certainly also due to managerial choices. As Damiano states, the fact that he is not a native English speaker does not allow him to grasp all the nuances of this language and therefore the collaboration with authors such as Justin Tranter has proven fundamental and, as he himself says, has opened up a world to him. However, this is something new for him and if the results are these you can only admire them and bow before these guys.
it does show how he is getting better with every new song, and I can only admire that. I know I'd not be as good at writing something in Italian, as he is with English.
Damiano is so wise i loved hearing him speak it was really nice to get his view on things
I can’t honestly 😭😭😭😭 with how humble he is , he’s beautiful inside and out ❤️he’s so inspiring ❤️
I think their fame is earned equally by their hard work and consistency and by the fact that they are genuinely good people who haven't become arrogant even after their global popularity.
I liked Damiano’s answer about who he would be if he didn't become a superstar, it would be pretty easy for me to imagine them as they are in everyday life. hopefully they will continue to be not so far from ordinary people as they grow😄
I could listen to Damiano beautiful voice forever ❤️❤️ Maneskin is the most amazing band I have ever seen ❤️❤️
Really beautiful interview Allison. As an expat living in Italy for 40 of 65yrs, it’s been wonderful to follow the growth of Mäneskin, and your interview really makes it clear as to why they have captured the attention of so many people (not all so young). Thank you❤
It means so much that you took the time to share this wonderful feedback with me! Thank you!

Beautiful interview indeed, Allison!Congratulations!
They also sold out Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, They sold it out before the Forum in LA.
Me and my band are also Italians trying our luck in the USA 💥 I'm happy for Maneskin and the success they've achieved; in my opinion, it's well-deserved because they are professionals. I've heard people judging them negatively, but they're probably just envious. Obviously, their success has something magical. For only a few bands, the stars align so perfectly to create the perfect storm... they were present when destiny called. I've always been fascinated by this aspect of music. In the end, even if you have great songs and do everything right, your moment may never come, and there's no rational explanation for it. But for a few, the showball effect kicks in, leading to unimaginable success. I've become zen; I continue to make music because I love it and need it. I have a following called Noir Family, and even though it's much smaller than Maneskin's, it's still people who appreciate what I do... so might as well not think about it and keep rocking... maybe one day, the stars will align for me too...but maybe they already did and I can't see it clearly :) Rock on! 🤟
wish you the very best!! ❤

“Greatness is objective and taste is subjective” well said Damiano. Thanks for such amazing interview. He is absolutely a beautiful human being as any personas he chooses to be.
Damiano est merveilleusement ITALIEN, artiste doué, sensible, joyeux, authentique, et terriblement beau !💚🤍❤
Great interview! Damiano is right: yes, they don't save lives physically, but they save lives mentally, they help lives live and hold on thanks to their music
Having barely recovered from seeing Måneskin live on this tour, in my case it was in Toronto, I am consuming every bit of news, interviews and performance clips I can find. This interview was wonderful, Allison, made me fall in love with Damiano even more. Was a bit disappointed you mentioned you would talk to him about their style-the four of them always perfectly decked out on stage and never wearing the same outfits twice-I was hoping to glean some insights about how that’s done, how many stylists they have working with them, how large their entourage is as their social media presence is impressive and not all fan-driven. But of course I understand there’s only so much you can cover in an hour. I’ve been attending live music shows since decades, and was worried I might be the oldest fan at the Toronto Scotiabank arena this past fall, but was thrilled and delighted to notice tons of people from all age groups, all there for a show they would keep in their hearts forever. The power of music, especially live music, just never fails. Thanks for a terrific interview. ❤
Thank YOU for being part of it! There just wasn’t enough time for everything I wanted to talk about so I did my best 🥰🙏🏼
This is only some fan-gathered info that you might already know, but in case you don't: It looks like they mostly work with one stylist (and their team) at a time. Pre Eurovision and sometime after it they worked with Nick Cerioni and his colleagues, including Michele Potenza who has now made a comeback and apparently styled their latest outfits for LatAm gigs, as well as for Valentine music video. Sometime after Eurovision they entered a contract with Gucci and wore almost exclusively that, designs by Alessandro Michele both custom and collections. At some point last year they started to work with Anastasiia Gutnyk, who has been around until very recently, maybe still is even if Potenza has done some styling. Gucci contract seems to have ended before Rush tour since they've worn miscellaneous brands and no Gucci.
A great interview, well chosen questions, and let him answer without interruption as well as prompting him with English words when required. I felt like I learnt more about him and the band. Thank you!
I’m so glad to hear this! Thank you for sharing ❤

Thank you for this interview, so deep. Lets us understand the process through which these artists became what they are now, their journey. I am 50 years old and live in Argentina. I've had de opportunity to see them live thrice, one at the Circo Massimo and two in Buenos Aires. The energy, the presence all of them have on stage is amazing. And I've learnt through you that Damiano creates that overwhelming persona and then comes back to be the humble, good person, good friend that he always is out of the stage.

Hello.
I am from Serbia, 53 years old, big fan of Maneskin, went to Denmark in April to see them in Royal Arena, and thinking about to go to Belgium next year also with my husband to rock festival to listen to them again.
My question for you is, and I'm not good at English so much so I hope you understand what I'm asking, is every concert the same or not? What is the difference in crowd, vibe etc? Objectively answer to me please. Sincerely, Alex

Beautiful work Allison, love this kid, so real and same age as my own son, his soul is wonderful and very down to earth
I love that he gave Shawn Mendez props for cancelling his tour because he needed to. I feel the same way about Lewis Capaldi. Yeah, it disappoints and can be a hassle for fans....but they need to take care of themselves, like we all do - and I think they're really good role models. Simone Biles too...and that's even harder because I think our American culture of work til you drop is especially ingrained in the sports world (speaking as someone pretty removed from it - LOL!)

@@bubasinter6729 Meaning is through feelings, only. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was a great Italian painter, done for example Mona Lisa. Wow! He is dreamy! He is so open and reflective and knows himself so well (lots don’t) and talented! Great interview!!
Hearing him talk about being defined by a genre reminds me of an interview with Andrew Farriss of INXS on Professor of Rock. He was mentioning that Radio Stations had a hard time defining the band. The reason being that they also were not confined to one Musical Genre.
That is true. The contracts that bands had in the 80's were brutal. The time that the label expected to to put out new music compared to today. Also bands didn't want to do covers on tour so they had to put out new music maybe every year so they would have original songs to perform.
My kingdom for his jacket !!! His talent is unreachable, far above this world. Anyway Måneskin' s music gives me the energy to cope with the dark side of the world we are living in. This guy has got voice and brain
i am so impressed by how clear headed he is
Oh, our Damiano, I can't help but like you. However, some part of the old you that I like very much remains. I like that you are sensitive, that you are a romantic and that you are a more calm, a little shy person in everyday life. I've known this for a long time. Apparently we have something in common. It's great that you and your band have such a strong bond and support each other. As for his solo career, we'll see what the future brings. I support you with all my heart despite my slight fears ❤
By the end of this year I’ve started to think about s-de again with much more power, the guilt from the war and personal fails... Yesterday I found Måneskin song on CZcams and my mind got really interesting in listening to vocal, to each instrument, over and over again. Yes, it is the word - interesting. I really need this, otherwise - why?.. It’s like when you go through the dark tunnel, and you’re so f-ing tired, you just want the tunnel ends… But you find the door in the wall, and there’s music. And you stopped. I really appreciate all of my favorite bands. They physically help me, although I almost never went to their gigs, cause I live in a small city in Siberia. So I only have headphones. Now I opened the door with Måneskin, I’m glad seeing their passion, their clear minds. And I’m really thankful, that I stopped before their door, cause I know that my thoughts are so dark, and I or anybody don’t need to do it. Although guys would never know how they’re helping me.
Anyway this interview is so soothing and pure. And very professional! Be happy, everyone, love you all, sorry for my English, I don’t use it in real life 💜
