Oh, these kids are sooo gonna be eating their veggies and will not even know it. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
That's what I'm saying. You can do fruit too. Lol
Did you try it, can you taste it?
Insert evil genius laughter .. those pesky kids will eat healthy and theyâll never know ( more evil đż laughs)đ
@@AmandaWoolsey I did. I could taste it a bit but they still donât know đ đ đ€«đ€«

I just wanted to share a little tip that I do for myself. I tuck in a piece of paper inside my jar of dry items against the glass with what is inside and the date of canning or vacuum sealing in case an outer tag fades or falls off. I also add directions inside my vacuum sealed items such as pre mixed dry ingredients for cake, biscuits, stuffing, etc.
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us Darcy, you are providing a good service to us the viewers so that we can look at food differently
Thank you for the knowledge ur serving and the way you served it, your effort is appreciated.
Love the tip you did with making a tray with the parchment paper
Thanks for sharing my Granddaughter & Great Niece love there Vegetable, they will eat that and not so crazy about Meats 8-7-2021. I Tell you this is so Valuable for people to know I wish I would have known this 40yrs ago
I love your dehydrator videos so much information, and I just got my dehydrator journal Tuesday and magnet!!! I have been dehydrating like crazy. I also just got my second dehydrator which is the Cosori. Now I'm dehydrating sour cream so I can have beef stroganoff with my dehydrated ground beef/turkey. Next will be ground beef/turkey
Your tips are really helpful; especially the one about turning off the dehydrator completely before removing the vegetable powder. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Darcy!!! When you said you put it in waffles my mind EXPLODED!!!!! I am going to try doing savory waffles and topping with turkey taters & gravy like an open faced sandwich!!!! Thank you for your inspiration & creativity!!!!! â€ïžđ„°â€ïžđ„°â€ïž
That sounds great!
Omg that sounds amazing!!
It is amazing!!
I'm so glad you used the Food Saver jar accessory as i just bought that and now I know how to use it. Love the powder idea...thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
This is an AWESOME IDEA!!!! Thank you, so much! This way I can make use of my garden veggies AND have a easy way to get nutrients into my familyâs food without them really knowing! Win-Win!!! đđđŒđđŒđđŒ
You are so welcome!
I just found your links and found an answer to my question.
Thank you so very much.
I've often thought of making vegetable powders because I've heard a lot about them, but I never knew how to use them. Now I can make AND USE them!!
Glad it gave you some ideas!
You are an amazing person. †Thank you. đđŒ
This is awesome! I just did my very first dehydrating project last week and it was frozen mixed veggies! I never thought to powder some! Thank you!
I use this more than I ever use the dehydrated vegetables - this goes in EVERYTHING!
OMGOODNESS! I totally forgot I bought this attachment LOL! (Upon your recommendation) I I recently started dehydrating onions, mushrooms, and made. Kale đ„Ź powder. Now I just need to âsealâ them. Gonna definitely try those frozen shredded potatoes đ„
God bless you for all your great advice, simple teaching & how you encourage us to try different things. đđŒ
Just found your channel and this is the 2nd video ive watched. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
I am new to dehydrating. This is such a great idea. I am definitely going to do this. I would not have thought to dehydrate the powder. Thanks so much for the tip.
It just helps remove any last humidity from the powder before storing - helps with clumping, and it is a version of conditioning.
Thank you Darcy, I'm a prepper and this is Super Human food!!!
This is so awesome thank you! I have some mushrooms and spinach in the dehydrator now. Im so excited to hide veggies in kid food!
Great spinach idea!
I chose artichokes & Brussels sprouts!!!your making me think hard now!!! Thank you!!! â€â€â€
Hope you like it!
This answers the question I had on another of the videos. I didn't realize how finely a processor could pulverize dried produce.
Love this idea. I really enjoy your channel.
LOVE this idea! Thanks for sharing
Hope you love doing it!
I have that ninja and it purées wonderfully.
This was wonderful. Iâm new to your site and am not familiar with the tool you used on top of the white tool to seal the lid. I just purchased the set of small and wide lid seal tool. But I only know of needing to use my food sealer. Your tool was so easy and handy. This was easy to follow instructions.
Thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing! I never would have thought to do that.
Hope you find it versatile to use
Thank you so much for showing how to do that. I hadn't even thought of veggie powder! My mind went to what all I can sneak it into, and wishing I had known about it when my kids were young picky eaters. My future grandkids are going to benefit from this. :-)
Glad it was helpful!

I need this especially for mushrooms & kaleâŠI have intestinal issues from surgery & canât eat as many fruits & veg as I need or like but still need the nutrients. This is such a great video/ idea. Thank you!!!

Excellent video!
Thank you!
Love the shadow animals!
Great video, Darcy!! I crush some of my dried veggies and make my own instant soup mix. Add tomato powder and it's awesome. Never thought to grind finer and add to pancakes and waffles. Will definitely be trying that! Thanks a bunch!! :)
Gets us some extra nutrients - even when we're not looking for them ;)
That Ninja did a great job for you. I need to get one. Great idea to add paper on your dehydrating trays. Didnât know you could dehydrate power because of the fan. Love the great info. Hugsâ€ïž
Gad I could help!
Great video. I am a new subscriber and I look forward to following the channel.
Thanks for subbing
Can you do some videos showing you actually using the powders in recipes? It would be really helpful
I show stuff on IG some, but honestly, I just toss them in recipes I do - nothing really special (and I'm not a great cook - so you'd be bored quickly ) ) But think bout making meatloaf...put in 2 TB veggie powder or green powder .. and add a little tomato powder. That's how I really use my powders. But I'll think about doing something. Thanks for the suggestion. BTW..ideas are always on the blog posts.
What a good idea. Thanks, Darcy. Your method of re-drying the powder is an excellent idea, too. :-D
Sort of my version of conditioning the powder :) It does heat up in the blender - and should never be added to permanent storage that way.
very helpful
Glad you think so!
New subbie from Eugene, Oregon đ€.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thankyou very much
Most welcome
Thanks. Great idea to add to pancakes, waffles and such. Especially when one has children/grandchildren that arenât good veggie eaters.
yep - that's why we use it most!
Blessings
When I grind anything I take the jar and blades back off the motor and give it a good shake then put it back to finish. I find I donât get as many of those random pieces that arenât ground finely that probably got stuck under the blade.
I have to comment on your animal shadows, very nice!
Glad you like them! :D
I'm new this year to dehydrating and would love to make my own onion or celery powder from my own dehydrated veggies.
I don't have a food processor but have ordered a magic bullet as I think it will be handy for many things.
I how to be able to do my own powder like you just did, what a great tip to rehydrate the powder.
Definitely! and it's so easy to do! If you need help ..

Thank you very much, very helpful information
Darcy, this is perfect. I didn't realize you can place powder in a dehydrator and when I powder anything I place it in the oven that is slightly warmed.
I also add some herbs to mine when my garden produces lots. I love your idea of adding it to baking. GREAT idea. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Hey! Saw you on Freedom HS LIVE and subbed you. Take care!
aww - thansk a bunch!
Hi there, Thank you for all these wonderful videos. We are just starting to dehydrate food. Your influence has prompted us to get started. We dehydrated some vegetable stems from our kale and Swiss chard garden. How long do we put the dehydrated power back in the unit for? Thanks so much!!
Wonderful! I do it until it's obviously dry - sometimes a sort of crust forms on top. But at least 30 min or so.
@@ThePurposefulPantry Awesome you are awesome!! Thank you!!

How long could this last in an air tight jar or if this was canned?
I love the wire shelves that you have for your mason jars. Can I ask where you got these??
Hobby Lobby. They were in the area where they have baskets and shelving and drawers, etc. I'm not sure if they still carry them, but they were about $3.99 each (less with your 50% off coupon!)
If I donât need the extra drink cups what do I order then ? I think my fan will blow this around because it blew some of my tiny food around. Iâm going to order one
Great video!
Iâm excited to get into powders.
Iâm weighing the pros and cons of vacuum seal vs moisture absorbing packets.
Do you recommend any particular brand of moisture absorbing packets?
Good luck! I have them listed here, as well as the associated blog post with it.
â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Put heaping T. plus in cookies recipes cakes. Add a 1 t.over kids ice cream then add their favorite topping to cover up ,when cooking oats , sprinkle over your tomato soup, mix in pizza sauce plus many more
Great video! I am pretty new to dehydrating. What do you mean by your dried veggies are conditioned?
Easier to link than type it all out: www.thepurposefulpantry.com/do-you-need-to-condition-dehydrated-food/
How do you use these powers?
I can't wait to try this to get my picky eaters to eat more veggies.
When you mentioned putting this in pancakes and waffles did you turn to look and see if your kids were around to hear?
My kids know that I do it. I don't hide things from them. It's been that way since they were wee kids. They just know it's a part of what we do. They only complain if the eggs are too green.
Based on other videos I thought they knew. But it looked like you looked around, as if you see if it was clear.
Please tell me about your funnel! It looks extra large and nicely shaped. What brand it is?
Here you go (aff. link) amzn.to/3iyDbBo
I want to make tomatoe sauce powder what do you recommend I dont have fruit roll up trays yet so would those be better for liquids like veggies?
czcams.com/video/TxusFwl1o6c/video.html Parchment/baking paper will work. But invest in some sheets - they are worth it.
I just ground up some of my dried mixed veggies, potatoes and onions into a mix. In dehydrator now. My question is, can this be used in dips or add seasonings for something like Knorr veggie mixes?
I love your videos and the wonderful knowledge youâre sharing with usđ
Absolutely! I just did a post on doing a French Onion Dip powder that is fab - and any version of what you are talking about would work! play with your food and see what you think about it - and then try it again. Just remember, that those mixes usually have a lot of sodium, so you'll have to take that into consideration when taste testing and adjust accordingly for you.
What are your thoughts on adding some onions to something like this to make an instant veggie broth instead of bouillon since we're watching our sodium. Thanks.
sure. There are low sodium/no sodium bouillons on the market, too.
Darcy, I dehydrated frozen kale and then ground it with my Nutribullet into powder and kept it in a plastic bag and then put it in a jar and have been conditioning it for over week now. I didn't know I had to put it back in the dehydrator. Right now the kale is in a jar with a silica bag. Should I toss it?
No, you don't. You're fine. Putting it back into the dehydrator helps ensure, but if you're fine.
Of I was interested in making my powder crunchy, like in a cake form. Would the dehydrator do this as well? If I packed it down while it was still hot?
No, there would be no binding agent.
The Purposeful Pantry ok. One other question what if I was using a binding agent like, potato starch, tapioca or a root starch. Nothing else just starch, could I create a crunchy thicker cake this way thanks đ
Newbie here. Was wondering if it would work well to take veggie powder and mix with a little flour and use to dredge chicken etc. Or use like a Mrs. Dash on roasted chicken
Yes you can!
I got a 700 watt Ninja because of your videos. Did some cilantro powder - it is fantastic. I notice you have what looks to be jars of powders in racks on the wall. Do you put the powders in those racks in the light?
Yes - those are my daily use herbs and spices. I have no other place to keep them, and hate having to back and forth into the pantry. We go through them a lot, so I don't worry about the light.
@@ThePurposefulPantry ok. That is a great place. Keeps them neat and readable. I'm looking at one little wall I have where I might be able to do that. My lazy Susan in my corner cabinet broke, I think I have too much weight on it! I need another space for some of that stuff.
What is the tool you use to seal the cap?
Food Saver attachment -- links in the description.
New subscriber here! Can I use a burr coffee grinder to make these powders? Thanks.
Yes, absolutely
Do you ever use an anti clumping agent? And if so what do you uses.... TY Cheri
Not for vegetable powders because it's generally not needed. But I do mix a little arrowroot powder with onions or garlic powder. www.thepurposefulpantry.com/keep-dehydrated-powders-dry/
@@ThePurposefulPantry ty
I dehydrated a very large amount of mixed veggies. I wasnât using those veggies I dehydrated so I made veggie powder. I have a 1/2 gallon of veggie powder. Would like some recipes on how to use the powders . I also used frozen mixed veggies. I also made carrot powder, onion powder, mushroom powder, and green pepper powder mixed with red peppers. I made my own chili powders with dried mex peppers. I added anticaking packs to the mushroom powders and onion powders.
One recipe I use my veggie powder for is Hamburger steak. I add a tsp. To my pattie, with some onion and garlic powders. But I need more recipes.
I have no recipes to use it. Just use it. A tablespoon or two into meatloaf, into soup, make it a soup base (veg powder, hot water, spices, etc.). I put it in every savory dish I make, and in some not so savory (like pancakes and waffles, etc.)
There is no magic to this - just add it to anything you're already doing. Pasta, bread, etc.
Dizzie Chef, if I may add some suggestions: dehydrated bananas, strawberry, blackberry/wild blueberry/rhubarb, or other non sticky fruits are good added in batter/pancakes/waffle/French toast/puddings/cakes/pies/muffins/desserts. In any mixture that is being cooked or baked.
Powdered vegetables: add to breadcrumbs/fillings that have to be cooked or baked.
Sprinkle directly over hot cooked pasta/mashed potatoes: tomato powder, garlic powder, bell peppers, onion powder.
Or: add powder while baking potatoes to fillings/scallop potatoes/ cabbage rolls.
Powdered cauliflower/broccoli/carrots and many more, are tasty in meatballs/meatloaf/etc.
For fresh salads you can use dehydrated and powdered cucumbers, lettuce, bell peppers, parsley, celery and many herbs.
The main thing to remember is that some vegetables will stay and taste gritty when used in un-cooked/baked dishes while others will be fine using right after being powdered.
Dehydrated, powdered dill pickles for example makes tasty dip when mixed with yogurt or sprinkled on home made popcorn.
Many powders are great mixed with cream cheese to use as a spread for breads/toasts/English muffins or crackers.
People have different tastes and all you could do, is to make small amounts of whatever, and try yourself đ
In my kitchen for example, nothing gets wasted (meats get into freezer and used later on as fillings for croquets/chicken breasts/perogies/mushroom caps etc.
Leftover (fresh) salads/cabbage/cucumbers/lettuce and any mixed vegetables ends up in dehydrator as long as there is no dressing on it, or meat, and re-used in one way or another, and not necessarily in powdered state.
Many, I just vacuum seal in a glass jars no absorbers added as many powdered fruits/vegetables will cake up. It's best to powder small amounts you'd use in a month. It works for me without any issues and maybe...it might work for you too?
Have fun, as the sky is the limit đ
@@incanada83. Thank you so much for the ideas. Iâm using my powders more now. Iâve made a lot of chili powders to use when I make Mexican food, chili or my tamales . It is fun. Now this is my hobby to come up with different uses for my powders. I found a channel to make homemade mixes . Then you add milk or water and have a great soup, gravy, an Augratin, or cheddar veggie soup. Many uses TY
@@dizziechef9502 You're welcome. It is fun for sure and worth it. I'm glad you enjoy it đđ
P.S. I adore Mexican food too!
What is your vacuum sealer what is it called and where do you buy it

I didn`t quite get what kind of bakingpaper you used, can i use normal thats go in a regular owen in the dehydrator?
Parchment / baking paper like you'd use in the oven.
@@ThePurposefulPantry thank you very much :-)
I new at this dehydrating, how do you know which veggies or fruit to put into powders, or powders that are not very fine.
I powder almost everything, and use a NutriNinja (bullet blender) to get everything that way. Almost all vegetables can be powdered and most fruit as long as you dry them very well.
What about bananas?
Can vegetable powder be used as a broth? My friend is vegan and instead of making the slurry then dehydrating it (or buying vegetable bouillon) Iâd like to use vegetable powder from my pantry for a vegetable soup mix for her. Thank you!
It does - but it doesn't dissolve, you'll have some fiber behind, which shouldn't matter for most things.
Can you show some recipes with using this powder, please đđ
Sorry, don't have any. I just throw in a tablespoon or two into anything I cook - soup, stew, casseroles, pancakes, taco meat, etc. It goes in everything that is cooked.
How do you keep the powder from flying everywhere when you open the blender even after you have vigorously tapped the container before removing the blades?
Give it a few minutes to settle.
I made pea powder and I was wondering is there a special way to rehydrate them for a simple creamy soup?
Mix it with as much liquid as you want your soup to be - including spices, creams, etc. So think in terms of 1 TB powder being approximately equal to 1 C fresh- how much fresh would you use to make soup - and go from there.
Will the powder n the pancakes taste like veggies? How long does the powder store for
It depends on how much you put in - six months.
