    Another great episode! Loved the grace and aggression description of your work. That s curve bend from the upper rad support that then wraps around the headlight bucket looks so sick. Fantastic work as always! Thanks so much for sharing.

    Excellent video, very informative.
    What welder did you use in this video? Can you recommend a welder for someone starting in fabrication? I'm going to be tackling a log manifold turbo kit in my LS swapped 135i.

      The Fabrication Series hey I was wondering where you buy sheet metal? Also I was thinking of getting this done for my car since I don't feel comfortable enough to do myself and I don't have a welder anymore or some or enough experience with fabricating. Haha

    Am I correct in thinking that the leading bar or bumper isn’t connected back to the rest of the chassis at the rear ends to allow it to bend only at the bottom and have some flexibility in a low speed bump and not affect the rest of the chassis

      +That Oneguy Thank you! The MIG is a Millermatic 135 and my TIG (often seen in other vids) is a Miller Diversion180. Both are excellent small welders that will do just about any job you ask related to this side of the fabrication industry (and others).

    Would there be a benefit to tieing the strut tower brace into the firewall also ?

      +Norman Murray It all depends on the build and the chassis itself. Some will benefit from it while some will be nothing more than a decoration. This particular build with all of the additions proved to be ineffective if I triangulated the tower. All it would have done was add weight.

    You use level or zero reference on your level finder a lot before you tack a tube in place on the car. Do you have the car shimmed up so that the frame itself is perfectly level, or is your floor and the car suspension that dialed that you can trust your level?
    My garage slopes out, and also away from the center of the garage so, I have to shim everything I am working on to ever think of considering trusting level.

      +insaynbcr The only true way to ensure it is all completely level is with a frame jig or rack. Off camera, there is a lot of setup involved which includes measuring and shimming slightly to get it as accurate as possible. It is a lot of extra work, but it must be done.

    I respect the gold lense (all i used when i first learned welding) but wouldn't an auto darkening hood be more helpful

      I'll try to explain as best as I can. When auto-dark helmets first came on to the market, I bought one. They weren't what they are now, but I was flash burned too many times to want to try again.
      The other part of it is the hood I wear now is the first hood I ever bought about 15 years ago. It has an extreme sentimental value to it, and I never want to get rid of it. There are so many memories and a calmness that follows every time I flip it down or up. 'Ol Chino (the Chassis Tech switch hitter) on the left side has been stuck to the side since day one. I just feel best with my big window lens I guess.

    Do you think the tubbed front end and the wheel tubs together weigh more that oem front end?

      +Jadon Ghereben I believe I calculated all of the material and it is really close. I can't recall exactly, but I think it was only a 6 pound difference in weight, but a serious difference in strength and handling which is often compensatory for weight gains.

      It actually is. It's a verb meaning "to note".

      No. You could say "note"...or "make a note". Annotate also means to make a note. But since Note is already a verb, you cannot make it a verb by adding the -ate suffix.
      Notate is not a word.

      David Owen sorry man...no. The suffix -ate is used to turn a word into a verb. The word Note is both a noun and a verb so adding -ate is redundant. There's a lot if false crap in dictionaries because lazy people have used a word incorrectly so much for so long that some moron decided it belonged in there. It doesn't.

      David Owen well my point is that as a professional who communicates with the public for a living, I place a fairly high value on sounding like a professional. That means using proper diction and grammar. I merely hoped to offer a constructive observation to another professional in order to help him improve the impression he makes with his viewers. The way we speak has a huge impact on how we are perceived. Whether you're on CZcams or face to face, people note these things.
