    Yay! Finally figured out what that sidechain mode actually does. Thanks!

    Never apologise for mentioning Prince. 😊
    Your videos are spot on; this is how they should be done.

    Nice video series so far. I don't often get to try the synths you film, but these videos make uo for it. And watching these videos is always enjoyable amd educational.

    I really wish there was a voice mode for splitting the oscillators so you could have 8 voices at 1osc/voice for more polyphony

    Great video, as always. Saving up for one myself soon. As for the vice mode delay the Roland D5 had chase play, which was a similar idea I believe.

    ∆b5 one of my fav chords... can't wait to hear how often it's used in tracks created with the Monologue... ;)

    You can also hold arp button for a second to activate latch (it allows you to press a single key or a chord and it will play an arpeggio until you press another key/chord ) and then press arp again to deactivate it. If it doesn't work you might need to update firmware

  • @catonlsd3

    some interesting alternative voice modes that I wish will make it into a firmware update:
    in poly mode: the dedicated voice knob instead of inversions could introduce pitch drift or random detuning per voice.
    In chord mode, would have been interesting if on the last setting for example you can pick notes to for a custom chord = chord memory?
    a "real" duo mode would have spitted 2 voices for the 2 different oscs, that would have been interesting, imagine that multiplied by the osc's flexibility (ring mod awesomeness! )
    The last sidechain mode can be considered as "misc" and an alternative would be a monophonic mode where the voice knob would offset the filter voices symmetrically for cool formant-ish like effects or introduce filter FM from osc1 or filter feedback or something ...
    another idea would be a monophonic but the stacked voices for the 2nd osc offset in symmetric opposed directions, what would work great with hard-sync on, or simply as SFX stuff...

      Bet you could probably do that with a user oscillator for the minilogue XD, maybe

    what exactly does it mean that the chord is "inverted" with the voice mode depth? Maybe explained in music theory terms?
    Also, just want to say, your videos have been EXTREMELY EXTREMELY helpful to me learning synthesis and also enabling my obsession with it because you are helping me to further my knowledge! Just got the minilogue as well as the juno 6 and would not have had as good of an idea of how they work now as i did when i first got them thanks to you !!!!

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  Před 8 lety +2

      Hey, I'm glad I could help!
      An "inverted" chord is one that is spelled out in a different way. If you just play a C chord, it would be C, E, and G. If you then played a chord that was E, G, and C (in that order), you will have "inverted" the chord. You can also "spell" it G, C, E. All of those are a "C" chord, but they are in different "inversions."

    Hi - I noticed the Minilogue has no target for amplitude on the lfo section for creating tremolo efx. This seems a bit strange. Next to filter lfo, I find amp oscillation is an important textural modulation for programming many sounds and creating evolving pads. Is there a workaround? Am I missing something? Is this achieved somehow by using the shape target? Am I the only one who thinks tremolo is pretty important in a synth? Thanks for any help. Ciao

    In polymode can you adjust everyone of the for voices differently?

    It would've been awesome if they had a hold function for the chord button. Press hold and build your chord a la Polysix

    Hey AG, is there any chance you still have a Prophet 6 and would be getting an OB-6? I'd be curious for a solid comparison vid between the two to see if it would be ever worth it to grab a OB-6 if you have a P-6 or vice versa.

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  Před 8 lety

      +Kidney05 That's been my hope! There was initially some talk of an OB6 coming my way, but I'm starting to have my doubts. But if one DOES come my way, I will definitely make the comparison. In a way, that'll kind of be the focus!

    • @slipknotboy555
      @slipknotboy555 Před 8 lety +1

      Hey! A little irrelevant, but I believe I remember you from the VSE forums (I go by Chewy), did you ever get your 106 (I think that's what it was) back? And on a more related note, good idea on the comparison. The OB-6 looks really neat

      This is my favorite Kidney05 comment on Reddit:
      "He acts like he's some gift to the universe in explaining these things. I've slowly gone from enjoying his videos to feeling like he's a decent presenter with an annoying/weird personality. He's also quick to bash anything that isn't some legendary synth."

  • @StarfieldBound

    Mark, I've seen you 'fetishize' vintage analogs in excruciating detail. Now you have a batch of modern analogs to count parameter combinations; what are you're thoughts on the "new wave" analogs? Are they more focused? Are they missing the "chaotic" nature of the vintages? Can one live with all modern analogs and still be 'pure' in 'synth speak'.. . oh shit, my quote key is starting to wear out.

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  Před 8 lety +2

      +Patrick Manderson You know, I really enjoy the new analogs, and each of those I've had really has its own character. I rarely feel like they evince the character of really vintage synthesizers... but they still sound really great, and have tone of their own.
      An exception is the Analogue Solutions stuff... VERY vintagey sounding.
      Oh, and the Korg Odyssey has great vintage tone, too.
