    duck egg issue is EXTREMELY easy, just nail a board across the bottom of the door (inside), this will prevent the eggs rolling down the ramp.

    • @adarlingdemondemise
      @adarlingdemondemise Před 2 lety +62

      I second this and might even encourage sloping the board a little so it's a little egg ramp into the duck house so if a duck lays the egg, right up against the top of the board and wall, it will gently roll back into the duck house as soon as mama duck moves away. You could even attach it to the door rather than the coop, so when you release the quaken, the quaken won't trip on the egg ramp/ bevel.

    On the duck eggs: a little board by the door could help, or you could go inside and collect duck eggs before releasing the quaken.

  • @ArchFundy
    @ArchFundy Před 2 lety +40

    Suggestion. Put a small wedge shaped piece of wood against the duck door to make the eggs roll in instead of out. It would only need to be 1/2" or so thick and an inch or so wide.

    you might think about hiring a trainer to bring out Abbey's herding instincts. Once she learns how to move cattle she will be able to do so better than you could ever hope to. She is never going to be Toby, but she has other qualities if you are willing to educate her how to use them.

    • @dogsfromthecity
      @dogsfromthecity Před 2 lety +10

Also as they seem to like to lay in corners you could use pallets to build some extra corners inside the quacken house just make them movable so you can clean easily. Maybe a simple ‘X’ shape part wall.

One of her daughters was born with the exact same crooked toe. Well the grandmother of the baby taped that little crooked toe down with a Band-Aid. Lo and behold that’s all it took to straighten out the grand baby’s crooked toe. It was straight before she was crawling.

I don't know if I was stupid or if the cattle was better behaved, but I don't remember nobody being as cautious as Morgan with his cattle. Granted, they were Friesian dairy cattle without big horns that could go though me. Well, except the oxen. They had horns because they were beasts of burden and you use the horns to attach a harness to better guide them. But they were so well trained that you could just point the way with a stick and they would turn just fine. It was a very old school farm.

      His cattle were all out in pasture and unfamiliar with humans when he bought them. He's said he doubts they will ever be 100% comfortable around him. And yes, those horns would make most people more than a little cautious.

    You're in the mobile chicken run and outside the fencing, waiting patiently for you are Toby, Abby and, I'm guessing, Molly...that's such a sign of contentment and companionship if ever there was....great job Morgan 😊😊🤍

    Over the years, I have been watching your videos, and it has been inspiring to see that growth. It's been some time. I just can't wait to see that next video that's produced. Don't know why it's a challenge for me to make it to view a "live stream." You and your wife have held my fascination since the beginning. I am amazed at the progress of the "farm." Your animals are a joy. The dogs and cats have their own story, and I am waiting with bated breath for that book to come. Your stories and what you do are the icing on the cake.
