    As a Barca fan, I'm more disheartened than anything. Realistically, the likelihood Messi was coming home was pretty slim considering we couldn't even register Gavi until literally earlier this week. But Barca has been teasing the return for so many months that he would be coming back and yet again, they let us down. In the interview Messi said that he got so many offers in Europe but he ignored them all because he only wanted Barca and that absolutely breaks my heart. Messi quite literally gave his everything to this club and he never even got a proper send off that he so rightfully deserves. I still believe in my club and maybe just maybe Messi can come home one day but it still sucks.
    On that note, as an NYCFC fan I will aggressively tell my team not to suck every day bc now that Inter Miami has Messi we're actually fucked lmao

      No realistically it was very high, actually neither Inter or the saudis had a real chance until Jorge Messi (his dad and agent) decided that Barca had a 48 hour window to sell enough players to be able to register messi on the spot. This was literally impossible because we can’t legally register anybody until the transfer window opens on June 30th. Also Barca had been under the impression that once la liga had given the green light Messi’s signing would be confirmed. This changed when we received the green light and Messi’s dad set the unrealistic expectation. Of course Messi has every right to be wary of Barca not being able to sign him, but this time around we really did everything we could.

      Barcelona's recovery is already an incredibly difficult process that will at least take years if not decades to mend. Adding Messi onto that as a crutch would've probably destroyed Barcelona internally as he retired. Something which he clearly does not want himself either. MLS has its faults but this move is massive for its continued growth.

  • @georgethemonkeydrummer5598

    This move plus the World Cup coming up and Copa America potentially being held in America will boost the sport in my opinion to the same level MLB is held here in America and even start pushing NFL and the NBA out of the spotlight that they receive yearly in America. Scoring a single goal brings far more excitement and investment from a viewer then the full match of any sport that America has to offer and that’s a fact.

    Nice video. As someone who watches MLS quite regularly, Messi‘s move to the MLS makes want to reconsider extending the already overpriced season pass.
    His move will definitely draw a lot of people to the product. I mean it is by far the biggest designated player signing in MLS history after Beckham and Ibra.
    And to my last point, compared to the Saudi league, MLS may not be perfect but it’s backbone which are US players, are realizing that they need to go abroad in order to sharpen their skills. However Saudi players are disincentivized to play abroad because they get enough money, the same could be said for Russian players for instance.

    I feel like this is just a bandage for the league. I know Messi and this move have a lot of influence. But I don’t think it’s going to be that beneficial for all of MLS or even just the sport in this country. I don’t like how hard they’re bending over to get him here. This is just another business minded at first move for the MLS and they’re once again showing they don’t really care for the sport and instead only care for the money it makes. It’s not good when all anyone talks about the MLS is how much money they make or how much the teams are valued at instead of talking about the teams and their quality, or the fan culture and rivalries.
    I personally still think the sport is still cooked in this country and I don’t think MLS will ever be attractive to me. I wish it was. I wish I had a quality football experience locally, but MLS has never been able to provide that and I doubt they ever will.

    I want to say that for an Argentian this is great for our country and young players. Our league LPF has a lot of talented players but they have to be gods one season(like julian alvarez) to be signed for max 20m$, completely different to brazilians who just have to make a stylish goal to be paid for 60M$. The wages are really low and the country's economy has been on the decline for years so many talented players like Thiago Almada are going to start their career on the MLS rather than here now a days( Also a lot of kids are leaving the country and Migrating to the us for a better life as well) This is sad because this league could be a really competitive like it was in the 2000s but we can't keep hold of the players anymore like before. So when you tell this young and promising talent that the best player in the world and Argentinian history is in an American country and a low level league... Well let's just say that a lot of new argentian players are going to the MLS just to play with him.

    1:49 in Romania there is a situation in the state where sports are involved in football.Brief story: In 2003 Steaua Bucharest was taken over by the businessman Gheorghe Becali from the Ministry of National Defense of Romania. Becali patronized the team without having problems with the Ministry of Defense until 2014, a period in which the Steaua team, as it was known until then, won 5 championship titles, but the team's patron ended up in prison in 2013, for attempting to bribe a player from a team that was going to play a direct opponent for the title. In 2014, the Ministry of Defense gave the team owned by Gigi Becali and they banned the use of the team's seal. In 2017, the team patronized by Gheorghe Becali thanks to a lawsuit won by the Ministry of Defense and they changed the name from Steaua Bucharest to FCSB Bucharest and also in 2017 to the Ministry of Defense registered in Liga a 4-a (the fourth division in Romanian football) his own also with the name of Steaua Bucuresti.In 2021 Steaua Bucharest promoted to Liga a 2-a (the second division of Romanian football) and even if he finished the promotion barrier position and direct promotion he could not promote because Romanian law does not allow teams owned by the Ministries to be promoted to the Superliga (the first division in Romanian football). Problem: in May, a law was sent to the Romanian Parliament, which would allow the teams owned by the Romanian State Ministries, which it created, to discuss in the Romanian space, in which the party that supported the passage of the law that the team would be able to be competitive in Europe and those against football returning to Communism (because during the communist period the teams were owned by Ministries or State Enterprises, but the law did not pass and Steaua Bucharest is stuck in League 2.
    Sorry for saying I wasn't very clear .

    The one hesitation I have about this move is that I'm not excited about MLS as a whole. I follow DC United games very very casually and the only reason I even bother checking in on them every once and a while is because Rooney's the head coach. Once he leaves that post I'll probably stop caring about them, just like when Messi inevitably leaves Miami I'll stop caring about them. I find MLS to just be incredibly boring, even as an American. Maybe I'm a Eurosnob, idk. Maybe it's a product of the closest club to me being a USL Championship side but even then I barely pay attention to that because that league is even more boring to me. I'm excited to see Messi in the States but the MLS needs to do something to keep interest in the league beyond the days of Messi at a high.

      When Ibrahimovic was a player of LA Galaxy every they brought up every highlights of his games to me, an European football fan, on my CZcams feed. With very extremely happy captions to tell the greatness of Ibra and his performances in the MLS. Every game hightlights were so depressing man! The keepers are sooooooo extremely bad against Messi. I really hope we don't get to see the same with Messi, but I'm not that hopefully. America must handle this better, Inter Miami should temporarily move to the Hard Rock Stadium and share it with the Miami Dolphins. Would also be good for that club. If Dolphins play their on Saturday and Inter on Sunday tourist would visit both clubs, I would (if I have the money and if the level Messi is facing is not too embarrassing.)

    • @sobbs2283
      @sobbs2283 Před rokem +7

      Might be because you don't have a club nearby. Part of the reason why I love mls is because despite the lower quality, it's still my city, my local club, with our own local homegrown players. It's special and in a weird way makes you proud of the city. I have way more of a connection to my city's mls team than a top euro team that's halfway across the world in a city and country I've never been to. Plus, going to game on a Saturday evening with the boys is just such a fun experience. The quality isn't as good, but even then it doesn't matter, I enjoy it because I love soccer in general, top league or not.
