Cyberpunk 2077 is this generation's Driv3r, its the EXACT same story.
I found the whole fast travel using newspaper vending machines totally baffling, I didn't even know what they were for for a good third way of the way through the game.
Also, having huge sections of the map locked off permanantly. including a good 30% of the main city proof the game was chopped up to get it out, especially as one of the missions talks about going to the stadium in the game, which is in one of the unfinished areas.

Holy fuck! I remember buying Driv3r more than 10 years ago. It wouldn't even run on desktop unless I ran it as administrator and even then the game was shit. The worst part was, if I remember correctly, the inability to customize controls. Meaning the only way to fire a gun was to press 5 on numpad. Also, you couldn't swerve with a motorbike without accelerating for a second or two because you would fall off. Also, reversing was bound to "-".

Speaking of the fast travel in cyberpunk. If you read all the internet web pages it's super clear the transit system was supposed to be a way around the map. There's other things in the web pages too that seem to indicate cut content. This could have been the greatest game of all time if it wasn't rushed, it's really a tragedy in gaming. With that said I really am hoping a sequel is greenlit for next gen only & with resources if people like GTA. The games made enough money hopefully they can achieve what they wanted next go around but I'm certainly not holding my breath but would be nice if we got it someday rather than never.

As a developer myself, an engineer more specifically, I find it humorous people who blindly defend the developers/artists/designers while assuming that upper management are solely to blame. That's definitively not the case. It's important to understand that projects at this scale are very much a team effort and invariably if things go cock up it's due to problems relating directly to or arising from a lack of effective communication. It's each individual's responsibility to communicate effectively and maintain communication to whatever degree required. A lot of the time that boils down to a lack of initiative, a lack of accepting responsibility, and a lack of accountability for oneself and others. You can be an exceptionally skilled/talented dev/artist/designer but if you're not an effective communicator or team player you're in the wrong profession.

  • @savannahmorgan-george-mcco6760

Bugs, and glitches aside this game is extremely disappointing. It feels like there's the game they promoted, even went out of their way to showcase (i.e., Night City Wires, 2018 E3 demo, dev interviews, etc.), then there's the game we have today. These are two separate things that CDPR failed to pass off as the same.
How can they make claims about the game being revolutionary for the open-world genre, but then fail to implement the most basic systems we've had in games since the late 90's?
Intricate, branching dialog with actual narrative consequence? Where? Also noticeably absent from the game, so much so CDPR quietly changed the language surrounding the game. Notice how on their Twitter page CP2077 is described as an "Action adventure game" and not an RPG anymore?
There's such a huge disparity between what they promoted vs what we have today, that it honest to god feels like there's a case to be made for false advertising.

Even if the game ran smoothly the content is lacking in my opinion. Outside the missions we are left staring at neon lights. NPCS are copy and paste lifeless characters. The street kid life path doesn’t give you that feel at all, why not add aspects like selling drugs, or shooting dice in a ally. With corpo you can do white collar crimes like insider trading, or maybe a more criminal approach like operating black market sales by using Arasaka connections. Creativity was lacking due to them wanting to rush the game and at this point I’m not interest considering other games coming in 2021 like Hogwarts Legacy, Dying light 2 and many more ambitious open world games

"NPCs were said to have day and night routines, actual lives lived - something Fallout and Elder Scrolls managed decades ago." And even before them, the Ultima RPGs implemented complex day and night routines back in 1992. It's a huge tribute to those developers from yonder years that they were able to script such complex NPC life routines back when games shipped on 1.44 megabyte 3.5 inch floppy disks and took up perhaps 10 megs of hard drive space. Unfortunately _bigger_ doesn't always mean better, and some of the old MS-DOS games are a lot more fun than contemporary titles.

The thing I saw that I hated the most was people saying "If fans were more patient instead of complaining every time it was delayed the game would have been better." But I think in this case that's a bad argument. They had told us repeatedly since 2018 that the game was effectively complete and just needed to be shined up. Imagine you go to a friend's house they say they are cooking you an amazing steak dinner and it will be ready by the time you get there. You get there and it still isn't ready they apologize and say it's done they are just putting the finishing touches on it only 10 more minutes an hour later they say they just need 5 more minutes finally 3 hours after they told you it would be finished they hand you nothing but an over cooked hamburger patty on a paper plate. You get understandable upset then they say "Well you rushed me if you were more patient I would have been able to make the amazing steak dinner I promised." Would you really walk away going "Yeah I should have been more patient."

The best part of this game is the story. The writing and characters are brilliant and I was invested until the end. There were also several side storylines I thoroughly enjoyed. Especially the ones that affected the main story. The story and the characters are the most alive part of this game. However, once I finished those I had no desire to keep playing. There's not much else to hold your attention, keep you invested. Which is not what any of us expected. The amount of cut content really begins to become obvious. The game is also just missing the little things that help with immersion that games like Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3 nail. They don't even have an equivalent of Gwent in this game.

The amount of people that are still defending and praising this game and CDPR as the second coming of Christ, while attacking any criticism really reminds me of a cult of sorts.
I think is because Cyberpunk 77 was announced 8 years, ans many of the fans now were too young back then, so they were essentially brainwashed by CDPR's corporate PR team over the spam or almost a decade. For them this HAS to be the best game of all time, otherwise they would have to admit all the hype was for nothing and they paid full price for a broken mess that by the time its patched to a complete experience it will cost way less.
Funny how CDPR never did anything substantial to improve the game's market, the PR Team just surfed the "anti-DRM" wave for Internet points.

I wish the resolution was higher and the frame rate is not great but has not been so bad that it was not playable . Cyberpunk Is not a great game that's for sure but it's not horrible either certain aspects of the game is really lacking but at the same time I've enjoyed other aspects of the game such as the weapons the main story and side missions. Anyway Cyberpunk to me was just a game to play while I took a break from Doom Eternal but now that we're getting closer to DLC #2 it's time to fire up Eternal again ... Doom Eternal now that's a great game that has been very well optimized for console Doom Eternal's buttery smooth frame rate is especially noticable after spending time playing Cyberpunk .

It's blatantly obvious the textures were toned down or something. I noticed more fluid movement until a fight broke out in a crowded area and then it was like my internet was lagging. Tried a mission in a club... Laggy and weird. It's not rewarding in any way when the major threat is struggling to finish a fight because the frame rate is unbearable. I'm done.

This game falls under category: Pump and dump games. The *pump* was the marketing of the game (fake demo, getting over hyped by sponsored youtube channels and hype youtube channels that got paid by the amount of views cyberpunk 2077 topics got and cdpr gifts and getting overhyped by sponsored articles and hype articles etc) and the *dump* : Delivering a skeleton of a game from what was promised. Games that did this bs too were out of the top of my head: Watchdogs 1, No Man Sky, Fallout 76 and I am sure a couple more. Cdpr made millions of of this with this latest pump and dump. However the karma paid in full here is: Sony unlisted the game, cdpr is now regulated in their own countries, lawsuits and people whom refund keep the game and extra's if they had any. Now they are forced to fix the game and fix whatever reputation is left so I am guessing in 2021 pump and dump games don't pay off as well like they used too. Good. Let it stay that way.

i don't think watch dogs was that bad, the only thing watch dogs did is downgrading the graphics at release. ubisoft never lied and faked a demo, they never told reviewers not to use their own footage, in fact the world of watch dogs like its npcs were really good and alive. Sure some of the things were glitchy and broken but, ubisoft did not falsely advertise and lie like cdpr did.And i don't think the watch dogs 2012 demo was fake, it was just heavily downgraded for consoles.

7:55 ok I have been a big defender of CDPR and honestly I probably still am, but I never saw this clip before and if I had seen it, I would have known instantly there were some major issues and problems with the game. I probably would have still trusted them to actually ship a mostly finished game with few major issues, but again this clip is so telling - the way he takes a long time to answer, all his facial and body movements, and then even the two words he says “fingers crossed” - clearly he knew the game was in bad shape and that it would take some miracle to actually fix it by launch. The thing is I think they all believed in themselves so much that they all thought they could do it. You could say they were drunk off their own kool aide, that would probably be accurate, but the point is they knew there were issues but they still had so much belief in their ability (and maybe their stellar reputation) that they would get it together by the launch date. I still have tremendous respect for this company even though they flubbed this release, and I also believe they’ll do whatever it’s going to take to fix the problem, it’s just a really deep hole that they’re in now and it will take a while to dig themselves out of it.

I absolutely LOVE Cyberpunk 2077, on my third play through now. I think its a great game but I cant defend it from all the issues... I experienced only 3 minor bugs:
    1) just a single random NPC in a T pose.
    2) the Panam car ride jumping to in her head space
    3) the genitals falling out from the pants.
I can also even see all the potential that there is, and that will most likely be added. New apartments, new city areas more places to explore ect.
However I still look at it like: would I rather get it as it was at launch ....Which being generous lets call Beta testing stage .... or have it delayed again?
I am glad I got it when I did and for looking forwards its a matter of perspective - not all these things are missing ... But all these things are still to come and make the game even better.
    New apartments
    customisable cars
hopefully more / better customisable weapons.

CDPR's problems were caused by greedy corporate suits who didn't actually understand what they were demanding of the developers. That greed and ignorance has not gone away. To be honest further delaying the game is not an ideal solution from a business standpoint. If they have had delayed it until lets say 2022, the amount of money they had to pay for all those developers for that amount of time would only furthermore overshadow some portion of the profit. For a company that doesn't have many IPs, that doesnt release games on a yearly basis, that might be too much for them. Now, I wont be out here defending a big ass company since I do still believe even if they have delayed it the amount of money they are getting fromm Gwent and the amount they would get from the sales would still be 10 times more than the investment, but the higher ups probably thought that they would make more safer money releasing it right now than in 2 years, even tho I'd argue that if they really were all about the community and respecting our money they would have been satisfied with less profit for the sake of a finished polished game. Either way, it was for the higher ups probably just a choice of more money but losing respect, or much less money but maintaining this image CD projekt Red had in the gaming world. And, as it always happens with big gaming companies, they chose the former.
Im just hoping personally that this will open people's eyes more to not fucking stan big corporations/companies for any fucking reason, because they never have customer's interest as a guiding line, it is always money.

Many couldnt get to see what lies underneath the mess but it’s really something special seeing Samurais last gig, Johnny playing the guitar in the secret dev room, being with Panam and the nomads at the campfire, spending time with Judy underwater, being with rivers family at a cookout, Getting to know Kerry.. showing how he’s grown and moved on from being stuck in Johnnys shadow for the past 50 years and just being with him on the boat while he plays the guitar and that rift!! something very special he’s letting go of all the pain in that song, and most importantly Mr. Silverhand yes we literally spend the whole game with him some would see that as a flaw but he’s the biggest change, seeing Johnny grow and develop as a person from who he once was with V all their time together leading down one road, going on a rollercoasters with him in their final moments together being happy seeing Johnny smile.... those are the best and memorable moments in the game I won’t ever forget❤️

Hello I’m from the future, post hotfix 1.11 to be clear. Honestly I’ve lost all my motivation to play this game. After playing Modern Warfare for a year straight without touching any other games, I’ve told my squad (friends) on modern warfare that I will not be touching modern warfare ever again till the next modern warfare comes out. But after playing CP2077 I feel so betrayed to my own word. Now I’m playing Modern Warfare again with my squad every night. I’ve been looking forward to this game since 2013 when they first showed off the CGI trailer and to play this? I feel so betrayed. I’ve done mostly all the side quests and the main story on my first play through. I’ve even tried making a second character with a different build to see if I get any different results, but nope, half way I lost my game file and I just said “fuck this” and stopped playing. Honestly they over promised too much, I was looking forward to what they said about how our dialogue choices will affect our interactions with major NPCs which I did not find at all, they even said the size of you penis would either turn on or turn off potential romances, which turned out to be a lie and does not serve any purpose (I included that as a light hearted comment). They said that the more cybernetic upgrade you put in yourself, you’ll lose more of your humanity, which was also a lie, and so many more you already mentioned. I haven’t even touched the game after hotfix 1.11, yeah I get it that people are saying “oh the game is so stable now, it doesn’t crash, it fixed the textures!” And to them I say, okay and? The game is still life less, I can’t even enjoy a mini game like street racing, clubbing, going bowling. GTA 5 online has even more stuff to do than CP2077. And you’re right, this game feels like a step back to 10-20 years ago when rpgs were just getting immersion right. Anyways I don’t want to rant any longer, but unless they fix and add back features they promised or showed off, I’m putting this game in the self to collect dust.
