Invasions: Turn 1, Part 6: The Campaign of Sapor II

Our first kingdom activates, and it is a good one: Persia. Persian leader Sapor II attempts to seize Roman territory, loot their cities, and hopefully score 20 bonus VP for attacking Romans with 10 unique Persian units.

I had thought you could not play the marriage card of the two nations are not the same religion. Maybe I got it wrong.
Edit: hm can't find the rule so I guess I got it wrong!

I checked the card and also the rules - no such prohibition. It would be pretty hard to use it if that were true.
