    I just had to replace the middle cable on my truck. Could not get slack to put the end into that equalizer part. Your ratchet strap idea worked great. Now my parking brake is really good. Thanks

    Thank you!!!!!!!! I see the problem I have now clearly. My rear end has shorter cables because the rear end was swapped from a disc brake truck. My intermediate cable won't reach the equalizer now. I either need the super duty intermediate cable or the dorman 21119 repair kit and make my own😢😢😢

    Thank you for the idea with the ratchet tie down strap, that saved my butt! Awesome trick!!! I broke two of the smaller 1" cheap tie down straps like you had in your video, then I put a big heavy 2" wide one and that did the trick. Now my ebrake works like new. Before replacing the cables, they were rusted/sticky/jammed and it would stay partially engaged and tear the drums apart.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  Před 2 lety

      Manuel Salgado on the end of each cable after the equalizer bar there is a spring that goes into each drum housing. • @NaturesCadenceFarm

      Morris Muller I would say the coupling that connects the pedal and intermediate cable (10:02 in the video) is too big allowing the crimped end of the parking brake cable to slip out. Try closing the coupling a little. I hope this is helpful. If you need more help don't hesitate to ask. ~Mr. C.

      Adrian Aguilar YES! I have worked on a couple of these body styles. One came from Michigan and it was a bear. I soaked the threads with PB Blaster for a few days before I worked on it. As I was removing the nuts I would back them out and then run them back in to help lower the amount of crud getting into the threads. While I was doing this I would flush the threads with PB Blaster as I progressed. ~Mr. C.

It corrodes really bad after a winter and it does not have to be a hard winter either the stuff is literally junk. Beware of the Dorman knock off clones as well especially the stuff that comes with those cute little tags that says Genuine Dorman part on it... Usually it is a much thinner much crappier Chinese clone copy...
