  • Insane Boat Accident Recovery on Residential Street. You guys ever see the movie Step Brothers? Well then no need to explain because you know what part I'm talking about 🤣 We got this job not from the police as is typical, but from the boat owner himself. For some unknown reason (I won't speculate), the boat trailer collapsed or broke and the boat toppled over.
Alex was dispatched in our 75ton rotator, Big Flipper, to assess and handle the recovery. I always see the comments how we make it look easy, but this one had every obstacle thrown against us. Not just a typical overhead power line, but dozens of lines all above! This made for a very tricky recovery, but Alex had the foresight to rig in a way to avoid all the lines and get the boat back up and on our industrial flatbed for transport.
What did you guys think of this boat accident job and how Alex rigged?
Don't forget to head to www.pepestowla.com/shop after the video and grab your cool Pepe's swag to represent your favorite tow company!

There's probably a dozen different ways to have done this but, it doesn't really matter because what Alex did worked and the customer is happy. At the end of the day, that is what matters. I've never seen a boat trailer self destruct like that. My only thought there is that the boat may have been too heavy for that trailer. Lots of little challenges all easily overcome. Good job Alex, Echo and Frank!! Stay safe out there!

When I first saw the thing my 'arm chair quarterback' opinion was it came off the tow vehicle while turning then slid the trailer into the curb and the weight of the boat obliterated the trailer. The fact that at least two straps were still in play supports the theory. The trailer didn't appear rusted or poorly maintained, just 'crumpled.'

Great recovery...but I'm highly surprised that you didn't use your spreader bar for your slings.
That would have alleviated you using the boat's tow hook to wedge your strap under. That was a little 'iffy'!!
It worked, but that was a very risky way to do the lift. You strap could have easily slipped over the hook and the bow of the boat would have come crashing down. All the boat's front weight was on that hook.
Well, you got it home safely, and in the end that's all that matters. Nice job.

Power lines sometimes are annoying. Im sure it would cost alot for underground. Ive lost power here in fl twice for 8 days during hurricane season because a tree fell on them

very vivid video, Joseh 👌👌👌👍👍👍----- Question:
Someone parks a boat on the street in front of my property on a permanent basis. Are there any regulations regarding the parking of boats on the street for extended periods of time and can anything be done about it?
    Answer:
Parking violations are enforced by the Sheriff Department, so they must be contacted for this type of problem. However, County Code 15.64.100 stipulates that trailers must be attached to a vehicle capable of moving it while parked on a public street. An exception is noted when the trailer is in the process of being loaded or unloaded. A link to the County Codes is shown below as a quick reference.

regulations vary by city and county, so it is best to call your local code enforcement department to find out what rules apply to your area.

Steel & aluminum frames do not mix. Good thing not on the freeway.

Maybe you might check the adjustment on the clutch brake, sounds like it’s out of adjustment, or maybe you are not pushing the clutch all the way to the floor, anyway just a thought, C U on the next 1

How come you didn't use the spreader bars???

    • @pepestowdispatch2116

spreader bars require enough height to let out enough cable, the wires were too low for that operation. thanks for watching

I ran a workshop close to a sea resort and we often got trailers in which had rusted wheel bearings or corroded frames but I know how that got damaged and it wasn't because of those two reasons. 😉😉😉😉

How does the owner get it back onto a trailer? Call Pepe’s back?

I wonder why they wanted it back at their house, just creates a hassle for insurance to have it transported again to a shop and I’m sure the city won’t take too kindly to that new ornament 😂 I will tow to a customers home if asked but they almost always call back and say they’re told they can’t have it there per HOA/ city regs

people having bad days don't always think strait. Best you can do is warn them that someone is probably going to throw a fit and make them get it towed again.
I think the grass would've been a better spot though. Low friction enough the owner might have been able to use his new trailers winch to load it without having to call someone to crane it up again.

I wanted to comment on someone's saying to pick up from the eyelets ondeck.....NO! Those are for tie down, to the trailer, and tarps, and bumpers, and to secure to docks/piers....all down forces, side forces not lifting forces.. Those eyes are secured with maybe 2" inch wood screws into 3/4" plywood, fiberglassed into place under the decking. And, now watching deeper into the video, the belt under the winch eyelet on the bow may not have been the best idea idea either. The blocking behind that eyelet inside the bow may not have been as strong as they thought......just saying...... Then in the owners driveway, Josh noticing the concrete when he put down his outriggers.....people don't realize that a concrete driveway is not meant for heavy vehicles.....you have to ask for a heavy duty driveway if you are going to park big rigs on it.
