    If you're struggling, don't feel bad about playing on easy. The Len'en games even have difficulty options for their extra stages too so it's a bit more accessible for those of us who aren't crazy good

      And these games do also have english patches if you are interested.

    The one thing I'll say is that Len'en's music is impressively well made and takes an approach that feels so different yet in the same family as ZUN - while ZUN goes more imposing/intimidating, the themes in Len'en go full chaotic and embrace that - I'll always think back to Eternal Dance Engine/Broken Eternal Dance Engine as the banger of the series

    Look mom, I'm on TV!
    It's great to see you check out the Len'en series. In my opinion, the first game is the weakest out of the four, although it is still quite good. The third and fourth entries in the series are the ones that have really kept me coming back, especially because Len'en 4 is probably the most mechanically complex shmup ever made. There are a few things that make it more approachable for the common person, (the health and barrier system, the upgrades, the powered up bombs etc...) It also includes an insane amount of content, featuring two new games worth of characters, as well as every character from the first three games. The upgrades can be really busted sometimes, (A certain setup can clear the Extra Stage while you're AFK, for example.) It also feels a fair bit more polished, in my opinion. The music is still great, and almost every boss theme from the first few games has recevied an arrangement.
    Edit, quick tip for Len'en 4, if you die, DON'T CONTINUE! Going back to the title screen will let you keep your money, and you can buy more upgrades! There is an upgrade that lets you keep some money after a continue, but it can be better to just do some runs for money and then make a clear attempt. Regardless of how you play, though, I hope you have fun!

    Hell yeah Len'en!
    Len'en is pretty difficult, but now with Light Mode and Easy it's more doable to beat. It's one of my favourite series, the characters' Names have great depth behind them!
    Also, Fun Fact: Evanescent Existence isn't the first EVER Len'en game Technically. It's Emergency Everyday. A video made by BIG BOSS in 2010 showcasing it, with Serintsu and Daijin being Pre-Game Yabusame and Tsubakura. However, the Game Project was cancelled fot unknown reasons and the team handed it to JynX to do whatever he wants with it.

      @mslabo102s2 Před 11 měsíci +3

      The original concept from Daijin and his highschool friends was just an in-joke with self-inserts. Outside of some parallels, anything is not too relevant.

    btw when you play DO NOT play the suzumi routes unless you don't care abot the story, as they take place after the 4th game in lore and everything is conected in the story for these games, even the trashcan that you learn about when you decide to watch all of the rei kun channel videos becuse brainrot hit too much is teased to have some importance to its sphere.
    Yeah stages are a meme in len'en JynX can not make a good stage, if you instant kill you win half of them. Also If you play as tsubakura you can fight yabusame like in touhou 4/8 where the mc's swap places. something like that also happens in 3.
    the name of the game is deathbomb, with it being reactable instead of prediction based, meaning that once you get the rhythm down you hear the death sfx and you can deathbomb, its like absurd 20f or something
    I recommend bombing through easy light mode to unlock the extra stage, as that is a cool monochrome themed boss. also has easy option for extra

    What is a reoccuring theme in Len'En, is that the stage 2 boss in EVERY GAME IN THE SERIES IS THE HARDEST BOSS

    A couple things:
    - On the left side of the screen is the Flashbomb Gauge, which fills up as you graze bullets. When it's full, you can perform your flashbomb. That said, I rarely use it, too...
    - Like someone else here said, there are English patches for all the Len'en games, and I would recommend them because I really like some of these characters. Plus, any sort of spell card name is better than "□□□□□□", right?

    Len'en 1 is great, but I dislike Len'en 2 due to it's reliance on RNG in many boss attack patterns. Considering you mentioned that on why you disliked UFO, I doubt you'll enjoy Len'en 2 much either
    But Len'en 3 and 4 are amazing

    clearly you should play pc98 games, they're pretty much abandonware so might as well just grab them and play them
    1 is the really weird one because it's a brick breaker with shmup elements and there's no dialogue at all. Also only two of the characters in this game return in any form or shape lol.
    2 is the weird one because it's a shmup but it doesn't really play like Touhou at all, more like a typical shooter. The list of weird jank is long but more notable is that mashing fire button is a valid strategy, there is no focus mode at all and the boss selection is weird even for pc98 era (five stones that shoot at you? lol) and the game ends in 5 stages, not 6. It's also one of the two PC98 games that tells you to kill yourself if you do poor enough, but I never saw it myself, even when I was just starting and couldn't get past Stage 2.
    3 is the versus shmup shooter that totally did not copy Twinkle Star Sprites. It's basically PoFV but older, including meme final boss.
    4 is the first game that feels like a Touhou game... and is probably the most forgiving after HRtP, given the ridiculous amount of resources you get in the game (9 extra lives in main story and six in Extra).
    5 is probably the closest to Windows game with its structure and plot. Kinda like how EoSD is a Windows game that still has some weird PC-98 quirks, Mystic Square is a PC-98 game that feels like a proto Windows era game. ...It's also the other game where doing badly enough has the game insult you by telling to die. Except I actually got it myself here, even though by the time I played Mystic Square, I got better at Touhou.
    If you have to play any, play Mystic Squareeeeee

    Hi I just want to ask a small question (this is not a demand for anything I just want to know this) What is stopping you from beating Touhou? Like is it just a simple case of massive skill issue?, or there more mental reasons such as stress or a lack of willpower?

    • @SlxxplessNights
      @SlxxplessNights  Před rokem +4

      It's a mix of both really.
      When I struggle a lot with a specific section or boss sometimes it can feel like I'm banging my head against a wall. I'm aware the game is inherently difficult, but playing for hours and failing at the same spot can be really taxing on my motivation to keep playing. Not to mention I have other interests/hobbies so Touhou isn't always on the forefront of my mind.

      @@SlxxplessNights thanks for answering I just wanted to know the reason because I feel like being a bit of a “Danmaku therapist” of sorts. asking what patterns Non-Spell, Spellcard, miscellaneous or even entire stages, entire fights from games Official or Fanmade are the cause of one’s Downward Spiral to insanity and then try to alleviate - minimize the pain it causes oneself.
