    I tend to agree. Magic Kingdom is the most popular park, but as an adult, it's a long day of riding flat rides that you can ride at the Carnival (minus the Disney theming). Animal Kingdom is just super well done.

    I have always loved Epcot as it’s unlike any other park to visit. The last time I went was 99 though so much has changed. Animal Kingdom had just opened and was OK but looks to have improved a ton since then. I still remember the old stuff at Epcot like horizons, the universe of energy and wonders of life. Showing my age now!

    I fully agree with your nr1 spot. During my first (and so far only) trip to Disney World I was so blown away with the atmosphere of AK that I just gave away all my planned fast passes for my second MK day, just to spend the last day of my trip wandering through the park and absorbing the scenery.

    Was not expecting Epcot in last! Mine is similar, but swapped 1 and 4.
    1. Epcot - It's way more expensive, but I think it helps to stay at an Epcot resort (especially Yacht and Beach with the pool). In cooler months, it's a great park to walk around in the evening, get dinner, and go on a few rides.
    2. Hollywood Studios - Really good rides, but it doesn't handle crowds as well, and the food options aren't as good.
    3. Magic Kingdom - Harder to get to, and for a similar park, I like Disneyland more (although I like Seven Dwarfs hah).
    4. Animal Kingdom - I like the Safari and Avatar rides, but not many of the others, and I like the layouts of the other parks more. It's also hard to get a good parking spot.
    Overall though I like these parks a lot, they're all in my top 10.

  • @sideeswipe
    @sideeswipe Před rokem +3

    Your rankings are spot on. The fact that people seriously rank Epcot first unironically is baffling to me cause unless you’re blindly nostalgic there’s no reason why someone would place that over the other three. It’s definitely better than it used to be with Remy and guardians but spaceship earth, the land, figment and nemo are all dying for refurbs and the two “thrill” rides with test track and mission space are underwhelming or straight up painful

  • @themeparkguyproductions
    @themeparkguyproductions Před rokem +22

    Here’s how I’d rank them
    4. Animal Kingdom: This park is insanely immersive, and probably the most beautiful park I’ve ever been to, but the ride collection is seriously lacking.
    3. Hollywood Studios: This park has the greatest dark ride collection of all time, and two of the best areas literally next to each other, but this park gets ridiculously crowded since there aren’t many filler attractions.
    2. Epcot: I know they have construction going on, but this park is just unique. The fact that World Showcase feels like a whole different park inside a park is insane. Plus the music is beautiful, and the food is incredible.
    1. Magic Kingdom: I know they don’t have very many thrill rides, but this park is the classic Disney Magic. They have an amazing ride collection, the music and park areas are incredible, and the whole experience is unlike anything else.

    As an old ass thrill seeker who's been to Disney so often that the magic wore off a decade ago, I'd actually put EPCOT first. But I think it's the ~worst~ theme park of the four, if that makes sense. None of the coasters at Disney blow me away (Everest and Space Mountain come the closest), so when you take that element out most of the rides just don't excite me. I just love the vibe and the incredible presentation of the World Showcase. It feels like one of the last vestiges of Disney before they felt the need to go corporate and stick their IP in everything (tho granted, they're trying very hard), and it's the only park in the resort where you can just relax and take things a bit more slowly.
    That, and also the alcohol.

    @fiendishfez Před rokem

    I really appreciate the honesty in this ranking. I'm a mild Disney nerd myself, and it seems like every Disney fan I talk to would rank the exact reverse that you went with, but that's why there needs to be four parks at this resort. Different people with different interests want different things, and there's a Disney park for everyone at WDW.

    • @AirtimeThrills
      @AirtimeThrills  Před rokem

      I also think that people who say AK is lacking attractions have a point, but me spending 1 day there with an early closure didn't feel that lack of things to do...if I went a few times I'm sure I would and change its ranking

    • @fiendishfez
      @fiendishfez Před rokem +1

      @@AirtimeThrills Yeah, and there's other factors too. Geographically, AK is further away from the other parks, and also from many of the more popular hotels on resort property. It seems whenever AK comes up from people that visit WDW regularly, it's treated as a park to go to for the first half of the day before going somewhere else. There's also the factor to take in that as long as there's a fair chunk of the park dedicated to wildlife habitats, it's difficult to build attractions that don't disturb that or make things stressful for the animals. I love Busch Gardens Tampa, but sometimes worry about the noise levels that come off of some of those rides in the vicinity of nearby animal habitats.

    Animal Kingdom doesn't jive with everyone but it's far and away my favorite Disney park in the US. Best theming, amazing narrative throughout, awesome shows, some of my favorite food in any theme park, and while the ride selection is small there's absolutely no filler.

Though my one and only trip to Disney World was in 2004 so it was LONG before anything major was in the park as a whole. I last went in 2018 for a one year anniversary/second honeymoon trip, so they were still working on Galaxy's Edge, Ratatouille, Runaway Railway, and Guardians, but EPCOT wasn't ripped up yet. My rankings are of the following:
    1. Magic Kingdom - I love the Disney IP that originated in the parks, so to me this has to be #1. Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, People Mover/Tomorrowland, etc. all have those backstories and easter eggs that I love. Plus the totality of rides and experiences is unmatched.
    2. EPCOT - If I could go back and remember everything from my 1991 trip to Disney World when I was 2, plus do the things that I would have been too young to do, EPCOT would have probably have been my favorite park worldwide. At that time every pavilion in both Future World and the World Showcase connected to the mission statement of providing high quality "edutainment," which I as a giant nerd love. I understand that's not for everyone and that they've felt they need to fade away from that or at least evolve to a more mix. There is still a lot of great stuff here (Test Track, Mission Space, World Showcase). I totally agree that Spaceship Earth and Imagination need a refurbishment, unfortunately it sounds like the pandemic delayed it. Plus the food in this park at the major restaurants (again I know is not for everyone) is amazing.
    3. Animal Kingdom - Agree with everything you said, only reason its down at 3 is the quantity is a bit light compared to the two above.
    4. Hollywood Studios - When we went a lot of the park was still ripped up. No Galaxy's Edge, no Runaway Railway (RIP Great Movie Ride) and Toy Story Land had just opened so the waits there were crazy. I have to imagine my opinion would be different the next time I go.

    I think you have to remember that Disney is geared as a family park and not an amusement park. You go for the experiences not for the rides. Granted, it's been over 25 years since I went, but I thoroughly enjoyed Epcot and visiting all the different countries of the world. We actually went to this park twice since we had a four-day pass (remember Animal Kingdom wasn't built yet)

    As a Florida resident (Tampa), EPCOT is like the main park I visit because imo it has the most to offer on repeat visits. I’d probably rank the parks currently like;
    1. Epcot- primarily for the world showcase, which isn’t like anything else we have in Floridian theme parks. It also has the best food and drink and the seasonal festivals are worth a visit on their own. I can only imagine the park will get better too once all the construction has finished in Future World. Also the resort area surrounding it is very nice too and it’s an easy walk over to Hollywood Studios.
    2. Hollywood Studios- All of its construction has wrapped up so it currently has the most to do currently of any of the four parks. However, you do have to get lucky with reservations to do those things and a lot of the time you’re just left walking around the park staring at stuff you can’t ride which can get really boring unless you want to wait for 90 minutes in the sun to get on Slinky Dog Dash.
    3. Animal Kingdom- Well designed, has arguably the best water ride in Florida (rapids) and I love the animals but it’s out of the way from the other parks, there’s little shade so it gets really hot on the worst days; unfortunately it doesn’t really offer much that I can’t just get at Busch Gardens or my local zoo (although the safaris are cool).
    4. Magic Kingdom- Cinderella’s castle is cool but aside from that and Space Mountain there’s basically nothing really unique about this park at Disney World atm. I think it might just be that I’ve been here so many times that returning just feels a bit redundant because they haven’t added much new in the last decade. Hopefully Tron will be good.

    I agree with your rankings, but the return of the night show Fantasmic later this year might be enough to push Hollywood Studios ahead of Animal Kingdom. Definitely see that show on your next visit -- it's Disney's best. My one worry about Animal Kingdom is that doesn't feel like I could spend a whole day there. It's missing one more major attraction. I'm hoping they revisit the Beastly Kingdom concept. Maybe build a ride focused on Elliott (Pete's Dragon reboot) defending the park from Maleficent.
    Magic Kingdom is great for it's ambiance and theme work. Epcot is good for all sorts of non-ride things. However, I think both parks are dated at this time. TRON is going to give Magic Kingdom a big boost. I do hope there's a couple other sci-fi themed flat rides to support it.

    Based on my visits (the parks HAVE changed) since 2008. I'd visit Epcot (last day of Food/ Wine festival on Sunday. Monday WDW, Tues AK. Studios didn't have anything new. It was original Test Track. Id' ridden Soarin' @ DCA, then Epcot. I'd wished an Intamin launch for Slinky Dog instead of Vekoma. Disney likes Vekoma, but have Incredicoaster by Intamin. I loved Epcot because it's quirky and more adult vibe. Reflections was a great fireworks show. I rode the Maelstrom (a walk on) Also Epcot @ night with star dust walk way was soooo cool! I wish 7 mine train had more track. Swinging vehicles are unique. Only suspendeds do this & they a finer than a frogs hair now. Monorail WAS the way to enter (when you could sit with driver) Yep! after I-4 it's 4 miles in b4 you see "stuff" P-lot to park a long trek as well. It's a unique way to get to the park courtesy of Roy Disney.

    I just went to Disney World for the 4th time this last June for the 50th anniversary (my first time was in 1996 for the 25th Anniversary; I also went in 1999 and 2015) and loved it despite it being so hot 🥵 and the afternoon showers 🌧⛈. For me, I would rank the parks like this:
    4. Animal Kingdom- I love most of the rides here (I loved Kali River Rapids when I first rode it back in 1999 but I have since been on better rapids rides (including multiple rides on Grizzly River Run at California Adventure since 2002) and felt like this ride is too short). The shows are good too. But I feel like they can do a bit more.
    3. Magic Kingdom- This is mainly based on the rides and attractions that they have that Disneyland doesn't have (or in the case of the Peoplemover and Country Bear Jamboree, no longer has).
    2. Disney's Hollywood Studios- The rides and shows here are just awesome. Also, I prefer Tower of Terror over Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout in terms of theming (both rides have awesome ride experiences and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout has the awesome Halloween overlay Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark).
    1. Epcot- This park is just so fun. My sister and I rocked out to Disco Inferno, September, and I Ran each time we rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (thanks to my sister successfully getting us a Virtual Queue and purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes (my parents ended up not riding it the 2nd time my sister and I rode it, so they gave us their MagicBands so we could ride it a 3rd time). Also my sister and I busted up laughing at how powerful our car was on Test Track (our car dominated in power, capability, and responsiveness but completely failed in efficiency 😂). We also took the time to enjoy some of the stuff they had out for the Flower & Garden Festival and took full advantage of the 5 minute wait that Remy's Ratatouille Adventure during the 30 Early Entry (this was all thanks to staying at Yacht Club resort and using the Friendship Boats to the International Gateway).

    I have a hard time ranking these since I have only been to animal kingdom once but here ya go:
    4. Epcot- this park has grown on me for sure. I appreciate the country areas more now that I am older, even if they don’t have the deepest ride lineup. I liked mission space a lot- Nemo not as much, but I rode both in 2017. I think I’ve done some of their other rides as well. I did journey into imagination when I was 7, but that’s the only time I know of.
    3. Animal Kingdom- they have the weakest ride lineup in terms of quantity with about eight or so attractions but those rides look really solid. Dinosaur, expedition Everest, and of course, pandora. I have only been here once when I was one year old. I am ranking it based on where I would probably do it now.
    2. Hollywood studios- this has my two favorite rides in the resort. Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. I liked the Great Movie Ride a lot as well, riding it in its last year of operation. And of course, they have Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. Both were really well done, and I loved Millennium Falcon Flyers and Toy Story Mania. I wasn’t going to waste my time waiting four hours for Rise of the Resistance. I also did Star Tours in 2017, and it’s definitely one of the rides at the park.
    1. Magic Kjngdom- they got the deepest ride lineup. I loved Snow White’s Scary Adventure as a kid, but that ain’t there anymore. Still, they got haunted mansion, pirates, Big Thunder Mountain, both of which are some of my favorites, and I also liked Space Mountain a lot when I was 7, but haven’t got back on it since. Great park overall and I think they have the most full ride lineup.

    1. Epcot: Great adult park and very chill

    I'm a huge disney fan. Epcot is my favorite park but has my least favorite rides (well until Cosmic Rewind) Hollywood Studios has some of my favorite rides but is my least favorite park. Why? Disney and the rides are stressful, every ride at Hollywood has over an hour wait and it's hot. Epcot I can just walk in without a plan and explore the World Showcase and eat some food and shop around. They even recently brought the international cast back so if you look in each country many of the employees will be from there so you can ask them questions about the culture. If I do ride rides, most of them never have super long waits and are a nice break from the heat. Animal Kingdom is probably my #2 for for similar exploration reasons and Everest. Close behind would be Magic Kingdom for the classic vibes.

    @MattMcIrvin Před rokem

    When I last visited WDW, Hollywood Studios was in the condition where Epcot is now (only worse--the entire back half was simply shut down), so I rank that #4 by default, despite my really enjoying Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Star Tours. It was only half a park at the time, and you could count the operating rides on one hand. I'd probably feel differently now.
    Epcot's front half already seemed like a bit of a dead-mall wasteland when we visited, but Soarin' and Test Track were terrific E-tickets nevertheless. But the back half is great to just soak in, and it's huge and varied. Easily the most "adult" Disney park, with a boggling variety of food and potent beverages. So that gets it into the #3 spot.
    Animal Kingdom gets the #2 spot for all that amazing, next-level theming and animal exhibits; and I do love Everest (my favorite Disney coaster), and Kilimanjaro Safaris, and I agree with you that Dinosaur is criminally underrated (though I can't stand "It's Tough To Be A Bug!"). Pandora was not open yet when I visited. For a long time Animal Kingdom had sort of an undeserved poor-cousin reputation at WDW, and I thought that was already outdated at the time. But it wasn't quite my favorite, though close.
    I have no experience with Disneyland, so no reason to get bored with Magic Kingdom's stuff by comparison, so for me MK got the #1 spot just for having the most rides and other stuff packed into it, and all that classic Disney ambiance. I think just the experience of strolling into Main Street, USA was overwhelming; BTMR and Space Mountain are both terrific if not quite as good as Everest, and Haunted Mansion and Pirates are my favorite overall Disney rides, with this old-school, detail-overload style of Imagineering that you don't quite get these days. I agree that Storybook Circus seems like a bad addition to Fantasyland.

    Crazy that my ranking is the complete opposite of this. MK, EPCOT, DHS, AK.
    After working at Disneyland for 10 years I have such an appreciation for Magic kingdom. The size and it accomplishes getting you away from the real world like Walt intended by taking that ferry boat across 7 seas lagoon, not hearing harbor Blvd from tomorrowland is nice too. They still have the people mover, carousel of progress and country bear jamboree! This is unpopular but I prefer Big Thunder and Space mountain here as well. The Disney bubble is real here unlike anaheim.
    EPCOT, even under construction is just so much fun. Love SSE, test track and the best coaster at WDW, cosmic rewind. I can spend the entire day in world showcase as well.
    DHS has the thrills for sure. I love that they have classic tower of terror still, that was my favorite ride at home. I agree that rockin roller coaster is meh. Rise of the resistance and runaway railway are elite dark rides and I’m thankful that one is and the other will be at Disneyland eventually!
    DAK is fine, it’s always 10 degrees hotter at this park for some reason. I enjoy Everest but it doesn’t wow me, it’s fine. Feel like it’s all helixes with one backwards. Safari is cool but I prefer the one at Busch gardens more tbh I’d take safari on a train over a truck any day. Dino land is super cringe and dinosaur just isn’t as good as Indy.
