Man, Les was smart for not selling his soul to the corporations and keeping all of his content. Now spreading it to the masses where it will be viewed even more.

Logan getting the Les-style commentary was really nice.
Also he was a lot more into it this time
Oh hey Verlis. Didn't expect to see you here. I see you have good taste in shows and games. :)
@Alvin Alaric Get out of here you scam bots
yea cause that's what he needed. He needed to be heard. He needed a voice. So glad les gave him that opportunity. Puts him in leagues with model dads.
@Zane Colby , No , nobody gives a damn.
I agree he was so great here. It's clear he's foreshadowed by his father, I guess he feels,. but most of us don't see it that way and are proud of him and his own ingenuity.
Les, i want to thank you for being an inspiration to me as a child and a Young adult as to im sure many others here that watch your videos. i hope you live a long and healthy joy filled life.
Ditto. It’s pretty cool that you’re including your son Les, not many young people have the rare opportunity to learn from a person so experienced in survival.
I live in a harsh and unforgiving area, and Les has been invaluable to me. I think of him often and say to myself, “First, find or make shelter in a safe place.”
I do, for now, it’s my house!
@@dinglebarry528 lol don’t all dingle berries live in harsh and unforgiving environments? I mean your neighbors are a couple nuts and an a**hole.
Same. I started watching Survivorman when I was 12. It was one of the things that got me into outdoors more.
i literally just comented about the same thing haha took the words out of my mouth! les is the original!
When Les cut the tape off for the sake of the ants, it was funny but also showed his respect for nature and all of it's most basic elements. The dude respects nature down to it's smallest components. Those little things are why he is one of the greatest bushmen that western society has ever produced. Up there with Les Hiddins and Ray Mears. Honestly he probably knows more about global survival than either, but definitely not as much about Australia as Les Hiddins, who is a legend and THE expert on Australian ethnobotanical flora.
I'd rather be lost with an indigenous elder tbh. They literally know everything.
@@psywalker7973 agreed, but I don't think that they would be lost. You'd only be lost if they wouldn't tell you where you were.
@JamesGiantPeach they're nomadic

Nothing wrong with that I like Discovery channel better back then and of course watching Les
Not many people can write a show, film it alone, narrator it and produce it. Les has been doing it for years in the middle of nowhere while he teaches us survival and making it ENJOYABLE! When this show came out I couldn’t wait for the next episode to come out. Now I look forward to every Friday because survivorman and son has a new episode.
ask Barry
Yeah but his family obviously needs love 😅
les I have to type a story out in hopes youll see it, because you probably saved my life man.
I used to watch every episode that would air on discovery when i was a kid, early 30's now but I never missed an episode if i could help it.
Well when i was 20 I became homeless and i was staying on the american river close to sacramento here in california all along the wildlife and state parks that are along there, one day i was riding my shitty mountain bike a long ways away from where we were all camping at, it was late and very stormy and incredibly shitty weather, the river was very high. I always had a multi tool with me and lighter and whatnot, but I was far from home, unfamiliar path and there was no one around within a like, 5 mile hike atleast I rode my bike slightly off the path i was following hit a log, flew over my bike into a huge muddy pool, got soaked destroyed my bikes front tire and ruined the hope of having something dry and warm, not knowing where i was at I started walking and about an hour later Freezing and shivering my bones out of my body I needed to get a fire going, I had one flashlight that was on my bike so i started searching for dry things just as you had taught. But being that it was very stormy and windy I couldnt find much, collecting wood on the dry side of a large tree I started to peel back bark from different trees and shaving old dry termite ridden cotton wood. My lighter would not spark and i thought it was broken, so i pulled out my multi tool surgically removed the flint, held it in my multi tool pliers and struck it with a small knife, got an ember on some of the dry feathery and fluffed up bark insides, got a fire going and spent most of the night collecting dryish wood and drying myself off with the heat. That was the most cold i've ever been. and I was out there on the river for two - three years. after that experience I was the "fire man" to everyone i told that story too. Thank you les, Ill never get to meet you but atleast i know i wrote this down in an area you might see it? lol love ya man.
P.s. Please upload the father son series faster. I need to watch them all before my first son/first child is born in june.
Evidently Logan hasn't watched his dad's old survivor man show in the Amazon being stalked by a leopard.

@@CynicalCyako awesome! Haha. I'm new to the channel, but I love it.
I know my comment is gonna get just lost in all the other comments and I've had a few to drink so it doesn't help none. But, I am someone who comes from a colored family and I grew up on Les and I watched him all the time growing up before school, after school, all the time. He really taught me about appreciating the outdoors and I absolutely admire him for that. I now hike, camp, fish, and just genuinely enjoy the outdoors. This is something I took for granted previously. I think less has effected people in the same way he did me on a grand scale and I hope knows this. I am just one little you tube commenter but I really hope Les sees this because he really did change my life.
My Dad used to take me off the beaten path regularly. He was an army officer and had trained in bush survival. I'm eternally grateful for those good times.
20 something years later and I'm still watching Les and now passing his knowledge of the wilderness down the generations like ancient man would have. Priceless.
Yay, Logan is finally getting into the spirit of this great series! ;-)
I'm sure Logan will want to forge his own path in life but I'd watch him if he took up the mantle of Survivorman 2.0!🇨🇦🔥👏👏🙌
I absolutely love watching his character development. From more of a shut off team... to slowly learning the les stroud commentary is brilliant
No he's not. He's never enthusiastic about it at all. He always seems reluctant to even be there.
@@daemonthorn5888 Les wouldn't have committed to making episodes with his son if he thought Logan was reluctant about the adventure.
You seem to forget that Logan's a teenager here, and has very little survival skills or experience making a TV show.

I think this was 2 years after the original two episodes
@@Thebluebridgetroll you can see he's older
Im depressed and crying after a sad day in my bed its mid night and the only thing I have to comfort me is Les Stroud, thank you for being here.
What I think is an interesting undercurrent of this series is that while Les has a ton of knowledge about the nuts and bolts of survival, though Logan is much younger, he seems to have much more emotional intelligence. Les is kind of a hard headed guy willing to go out into the wild himself. Let's face it, Les is kind of a weird dude, which is what it takes to be that extreme - but a lot of what he says and how he sees things is based upon fear. Meanwhile Logan is more of a balanced person emotionally, he doesn't look to prove himself as much, not as much anxiety, which probably lifts them both up far more than Les acknowledges. Also while Les does have all of this knowledge now, he's almost 60, so realistically he's probably way more in danger of any minor injury or dehydration or health concern than a strong, sixteen year old. There is a bittersweet part of this, like looking at a historic pro athlete in their 40s up against the new star rookie - as much as the older guy looks down upon the rookie from experience, the rookie is going to score most of the points at the end of the season. At the same time, Logan is Les' baby, he's his little boy in his mind, he really wants to protect him, but really in some way Logan knows he's protecting his own dad, who at this age could die on a solo mission. All the while, Les is saying, "this is the problem with teenage boys!" It's bittersweet and really insightful about how despite parents always thinking they know best, when you reduce it down to something simple outside of career, money, paying taxes, getting an education...down to the simplest elements of just nature -- the weaknesses of an older adult and strengths of a young adult come out much more obviously and shows us a much more stark picture of our own mortality. Les putting this out there and showing his vulnerability I feel is more insightful and even better than the original Survivorman.
Really well said, man
this is the dumbest shit I've ever read, Tom Brady wipes the floor with Rookies, so does LeBron.
@@BasedDoombutter So your cherrypicked veteran athelete being able to beat a rookie means every veteran athelete can?
Youth and enthusiasm will always be bested by old age and treachery! XD
But, also that is well said. However, Les is way stronger than you made him out to be. I've worked with enough older 50+ guys that are rugged and capable of outdoing some younger lads, not out of FITNESS! But mental DETERMINATION
@@BasedDoombutter I've never heard of either of those hockey players so they can't be that great. Regardless, it has nothing to do with the real world.
That boy has seriously underestimated the power of having a long pointy stick. Very useful and free survival tool.
I have never rooted as hard for anything as I did for Les to get that fire going
Les, I was PROUD of you for not messing up those ants' day.
It’s so amazing to see how much Logan grew throughout being a part of his dad’s series. The very first episode I watched he was so unsure, constantly looking to his dad to make decisions. Now here he is kicking ass & taking names. Maybe too independent according to Les. 😂 it’s real cool to see that transition from apprehensive young man to ballsy, over confident man who doesn’t have the cautious experience of adult life yet. I hope they make another when Les is in his golden years & Logan is a middle aged man maybe with his own son or daughter.
This is why I have so much respect for him. He keeps it real and even shows failures that can happen to everyone.
Man VS Wild, a Real survuval show.
Amazing series, thank you Les and Logan, loving it, keep it up!!!
Your art is amazing! Wild to see you here but awesome 😎
When that water fell on the fire, I felt it deep in my heart. My jaw dropped. That was awful.
Thanks Les for showing us that even you can fail at fire, or at anything. You could just show us all your success and how great you are, but for our instruction, our heroes need to be human, I think. I don't know. Their is always a question of ego any time I admire somebody in any big media outlet, and I wonder how much integrity is behind this or that powerful seeming human being. You really showed up like a warrior and came through for us optimistic skeptics on this one man. Thank you so much. I mean it, hot damn you really are Survivorman!
When Logan says "but I don't think he knows what he's talking about" I laughed.
They don't call your dad Survivorman for no reason 😂
Logan was right. They call him survivor man because that's the name of the show. Logan catches way more fish. Les is nearly always wrong. That's why this show is fun.
@@feralfeel9235 Odd take. Also a bad one.
@@Nyx_2142 it's not. Les Stroud is an absolute tool. Complete fish out of water in the woods. Does nearly everything wrong at all times 😂. cringy cringy TV. Super funny.
@@Nyx_2142 Most episodes are "watch a guy starve for a week". He never really thrives, still like Les and the show because he's real.
@@MrMalicious5 “he never really thrives” 🤣 Jesus Christ. He doesn’t go glamping. The stupidity of that comment flew right over your head before you posted it eh?! 🤦♂️ This isn’t a fishing channel show.
He goes in places with a piece of beef jerky, a knife, and being knowledgeable of the area, (learning from locals) and he shows you how you can POSSIBLY survive where nearly EVERYONE else would simply perish if they get lost.
You two clowns are made for eachother in this comment section 🤣🤦♂️
Very humbling episode guys, watching an expert fail at starting a fire I think helps put the viewers ego in check and teaches us that even the worst can happen to the best. Mad respect for the both of you.
Les is such a kind soul. Truly a one of a kind guy. He duct tapes a tree, covering some ants. Immediatly he feels bad. Theyre only ants, but Les's big heart wont let him take a life without need.
He held up Leaf cutter Ants working in there natural environment, too write take that modern plastic tape away from them, I bet the destruction they made an the duct tape still there today.
Going off of some behind the scenes footage, he's also got quite the ego though.
Les Stroud!! The Original..No camera crew...Glad to see this..
Love watching You and your SON , With there were more .❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are making me happy during covid thanks les
Your son has learned so much compared to the first episode!
Definitely agree!
One thing I find ironic is in a previous episode they used spears Logan created to catch fish, even though Les initially thought they would be useless. Now the tables have turned in this episode and Les wants spears but Logan thinks they're silly. What a great show!
It’s just made-up bullshit.
@@larjkok1184 What is? Finding yourself in a survival situation is a real possibility for anyone.
@@lakeportlighter he's probably thinking Les does things like Bear, and everything is staged. Les has talked multiple times in his Director's Cut episodes that he had to fight to make sure there wasn't any fake drama introduced into his shows.
@@Eyes0penNoFear don’t say that the “best survivalist in the world”, Bear does staged things, everyone knows that he doesn’t have a camera crew always with him, food or water....😂
The fire issue reminds me of the scene in Jeremiah Johnson when he finally got his fire going, but a tree dropped a basketball sized lump of snow on it.
his son sounds just like him. thats so cool i love this
Started my first fire with a flint and striker recently. I owe it all to Les
Like flint and steel or a fire rod?
I hope this well help you can buy a fire rod on EBay I got one that are 8/12 inches long most fire rod are about 4 to 5 inches long and the 8/12 long make starting a fire faster and the fire rod last longer most of them have a block of some kind so that you can hold it up and get them to work well but most of the time you can get them even ware on the rod the 8/12 rod have no handle so turn it over and that way you don’t waste and get more spark you know what I mean
Buy the way I happened to live in Alaska forgot to put that in thank you hope that help maybe you know that you can get different size of fire rod on line
When it comes to survival, I would stand on 1 foot and rub my tummy if Les told me to... Young Logan will learn that when his father tells him something, it's because he's literally been there and done that! Great series, I love it.
For real have been thinking that no matter the relation, if I'm wiiiiith a survivalist in a situation that calls for their expertise I'm gonna be like, "How can I help? What do you need?"
And with these two I see that it's there but as the public we do need to keep in mind that there is heavy editing. Plus, I feel fairly certain that Younger Stroud feels Complete trust in his Dad first (and as Survivorman second but obvs close) to keep them both safe because parenting and survival are pretty close bedfellows anyway. That's the beauty of this specific show to me, trust. Silver Fox Stroud has proven his mettle over and again. Time to pass the history on to the next generation. With that in mind-hell yes he needs to lay into him some sometimes. Anybody who gets to learn at the knee of a master in their field and doesn't pay attention.... why are you there? I don't think that will be an issue with this young man long term though. Logan seems like he has good ideas and I respect the hustle with his strengths. I look forward to seeing his growth. Please keep putting these out as you're able. They're honestly turning me into a wannabe try-er of being outdoors more and I'm so addicted to the useful content.
Good to see Logan will be set for life with your ideas and actions. That money will always come in for him and that’s great of you.
This might be one of the first times I’ve ever seen Les struggle this hard
To get a fire going
Really tells a lot about the humidity and conditions
Thanks for the content, I am recovering from a nasty bout of covid at home and I can't do much without feeling ill, you give me something enjoyable to do with my time.
🙏 I had covid as well. I had it early and had pnemonia. Still have breathing issues. But just plenty of rest, fluids and dont be afraid to give your body plenty of time for sleep. Lay in bed and watch les! Prayers for full recovery. From Indiana 💜🙏
Great episode! I love how it really showed the struggle of the extremely damp environment. To see even toilet paper and duct tape refusing to burn, it really is sobering. That insane humidity that permeates everything is something else - I'd be so curious to see how local tribes do it. Maybe have to start during the day or something.
I always knew the jungle wasn't for me but this video proves it beyond a shadow of doubt.

"Its pronounce MILLI WAK KAY"
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen. It takes two people to run a concert: one back stage, and one out front. One man alone cannot do this. Wayne, you will run the backstage team. Milton, you are my liaison between Wayne's backstage team and Garth's front-stage team which includes myself in the booth. To the left and right of the stage are machine-gun pillboxes, M-60 Browning. Les failing a fire makes it just makes me appreciate how damn hard it is to do without modern equipment, not to even mention the dampness. It's so easy to think "oh it's survivorman ofcourse he can make a fire", but it's incredibly hard to do even for an expert.
Whoa! If Les Stroud can't keep a fire going, no one can!
I had a friend drop me off in the woods, I told him to come check on me in a month, and when he come to extract me, I said I wasn't ready to go back ! I told my friend I would make my way home when I was ready and I stayed 3 more months ! I was in the Mt Hood National forest as far from the city as I could possibly get. I loaded my stuff in a wheel barrel and I found a nice primitive place to make my camp. I had a jungle hammock and a tarp and some rope.I made my self so comfortable that I did not want to leave.

Nothing better than the confidence of a teenage boy. He has one of the world's top experts on wilderness survival, being his son he knows his dad spent a week in a similar jungle in his previous show. Young and cocky enough to think his way of doing things is better. Shrugging off every suggestion his father gives him. To think I did the same thing to my dad years ago. Since my boy just turned 13, it will be my turn to be ignored in the near future. Little Mr. Know-it-all.
I’m happy to see father and son together in an adventure, something to remember.
❤❤❤
It's cool to see Logan's skills grow through these first few episodes. Both in survival and filmmaking.
Still the most real, relevant, revelatory survivor man! You still keep pushing through and looking for insights and to see you try and work with your son, it's tough, sometimes painful and awkward, but you are really showing some true as it can be to true life here. As for your son, his dad is Survivorman! I think he is doing well dealing with you a lot of the time! I raised two, and then another followed ten years after the first two, and had three brothers; I know how hard it is to deal with them most of the time. Please keep doing this show and what you are doing. It is very inspirational and very quality content. I wish more people would get back in here and catch up with you. I am sure you will keep gaining fans because you work hard for it.
It’s funny how I’m rewatching all of these episodes all these years later and Les holds up the machete with the bright orange piece of string. All of my “most” important items when I’m out camping or paddling are that same bright orange. Knife? Orange. Fire steel? Orange. Axe? Well that’s orange too. Bunch of other stuff marked the same way so it’s impossible to overlook when leaving a campsite and thus way less likely to leave behind. Served me well so far. 😎👍🏻
I can’t walk into the woods without thinking of les, what would les do in this situation, thanks for years of teaching and helping everyone out brother.
Could you imagine Les is your dad? That would be freakin awesome!!!!! Thanks for getting me back into nature and the outdoors with SurvivorMan’s original run.
Watching the father son dynamic is great. It reminds me of my dad and I. It's funny watching how Logan is hesitant at times to listen to his father's advice. I did the same thing. Sometimes you have to just figure it out the hard way even if your dad knows best.
What I see is calmness and clear head.😎
It would be interesting to do an episode with another father and son. Les knows that jaguars will stalk a lone person and wants his son safe after having been stalked himself. He knows there's strength in numbers but needs Logan to be able to fend for himself.
I enjoy these so much. Can’t wait to share my love for this show with my kids.
I'm realizing that Les Stroud is like the Bob Ross of survivalism. Especially bringing his son to participate and create awesome shows, distributing them for the world to see. Awesome content.
You can definitely see the difference that even a little bit of age can mature a good teenager. Logan is an order of magnitude more mature in this video than the earlier ones. He still did better, btw, than most teens of today in his first outing, though. Great job by both.
41:10 I can really recommend carrying a small flat file together with those ferrorod & magnesium blocks. The 90 degree corners really help create sparks and the file part is awesome to create small piles of magnesium dust. Or wood dust or what ever else you can make a fine powder out of that will catch a spark.
29:58 "Walk over the tape, boys.." ROFL.
Yeah. They're girls. Les is always wrong.

Googa mooga, what a change in feeling this episode had! Awesome direction here, and a good show of real vulnerability after episode 2 ended with you two having the luxury of a cabin at the end. This was a good dive into the "deep end" for Logan, and he's starting to work on his on camera voice - is good to see!
