REQUESTS on CAPITAL RADIO FOR ME
Throughout the 70's and 80's I managed to have 87 requests played on Capital Radio. I appeared on various Capital Radio's quiz shows including "Beat Pete" (Peter Young) competition. Plus lots of Nicky Horne's popagrams. I also worked with Nicky and provided over 200 artist and groups anagrams for his popagram popagram slot. I received dozens of T-Shirts by winning many competitions. Managed to get records played on Graham Dene's 7 o'clock star oldie slot a few times and also his "Double Or Quit" shows. Mike Smiths "First Time Buy" slot. Various requests on Roger Scott Friday cruising shows and a couple on Michael Aspel "Golden Oldie Hour" shows. Managed to get 2 slots on the "Sold Gold Sunday" spot with Blue Mink and The Fortunes. Plus a record request for Roger Greenway's birthday on Richard Alison show. Also a request on Mike Allen's "Music Machine" slot. PLUS SO MUCH MORE ON 194! John Holman

Roger Scott was the finest dj to grace the airwaves of any radio station....and his choice of music was amazing!

I used to drive in London, and remember his distinctive voice so well. I can't believe it was so long ago. Such a shame.

I lived in London for most of 1977 and I would try to listen to Roger Scott every day. I loved his radio show. I sent him a letter at the station once, explained that I was from NYC and living in London, and said I was a big fan of his and of British Invasion music. About a week later, I was listening to “The Three O’Clock Thrill” and it was a great selection of British Invasion music. At the end of it, Roger said: “I bet C*****l K****r enjoyed that.” Needless, to say - it made my day. I was so glad I happened to be home and listening to the radio to hear it. There were some great personalities on Capital… Roger, Kenny Everett, Graham Dene, Nicky Horne - I loved the station. Nice memories.

Wonderful memories. Roger's son Jamie has uploaded many hours of his dad's Capital Radio & Radio 1 shows along with loads of interviews Roger conducted with all kinds of stars. Its all at Rogerscott.net. I discovered the site just before Christmas and I've since spent many happy hours listening. Along with Kenny Everett, Roger Scott was THE DJ when I was growing up listening to Capital in London.
