Sorry, I guess I should have included, it takes off old adhesive residue as well as any grease/dirt. Unless you saturate it in WD it will be dry by the time you might need to tape it back down. If you need the WD off a little dish soap in a spray bottle of water into a towel will take the slippery right off.
cool but i think it would help if you told people you live in phoenix or in a scorching climate other wise need to introduce heat as the important factor

It's amazing how well the WD-40 can pull the old tape goop off.

Say Pat, throw a little wd-40 on that towel, and you'll have a clean cable also.
Done that a lot over the years. I use lighter fluid for zippo lighters or soapy water on the rag too
