Many softlocks involve 2 things at the same time.
Smiting an NPC and talking to it at the same time,
grabbing a 3-UP heart and getting struck at the same time.
I did a roll at the same time as entering a shop, and it softlocked. I assume that was the reason. Second softlock I've ever encountered in games, and first in this game.

I accidentally did the cap kingdom one once and it broke my mind because it was before I watched any videos on breaking Odyssey so didn't know it was possible. Lol
in otherwords the ones without soft lock just require more searching

For the bound ball one cant we roll cancel clip and then cappy bounce into the loading zone?
Just saying, in darker side, u can do that frog glitch where u can swim in the air and if u travel past the final area and keep on swimming until u can't see the Odyssey, then uncapture the frog and u'll be falling forever.

@@alexdissington6133 but I think a couple of the other soft locks that were also patched in the video (I could be wrong) but I thought he was using an older version.
Esther draws I’m not sure what has been patched on this list and what hasn’t at the moment. I haven’t played the game in quite a while. I just know that the Darker Side frog skip glitch has been patched.

I think the one in Moon might be a crash, not a softlock?
Normally when a game crashes on the Switch, it’ll recognise something is wrong and kick you out of the game and tell you that an error has occurred.
It isn't a crash because you still have the music

A softlock is when the game is still in a playable state but you can’t progress. An error message would show up and you’d be kicked out of the game if it was a true crash.
In snow, can't you warp back to a checkpoint?

Plot Twist: He's Secretly Daydreaming
I was just playing today, like 10 seconds ago, and I'm trying to get the final two outfits of the game, so I'm farming coins in Bowser Kingdom. I got to 9999 coins to get my third last outfit, the 8-bit one. But for some reason, when I pressed the roll button right as I entered the shop, and it softlocked. Luckily, I didn't lose any coins, and got the 8-bit outfit which is pretty cool actually.

Rykiion If you want to save a bigger video, you will have to buy and set up a capture card. I don’t think they’re very expensive. Sorry if this wasn’t too helpful!
Edit: You can only use a capture card with your Switch while it it in TV mode.
I pseudo-softlocked myself in Lost Kingdom when I first played by spin jumping across the Tropical Wiggler platforms then realized I was going the wrong way. I hit a checkpoint and didn’t have access to fast travel because the bird stole Cappy. So I had to do the same technique on my way back. I also spin jumped up those platforms and didn’t realize I was supposed to ground pound them until I got to the bird and didn’t know what to do. I feel like there could be decent softlock potential at the start when you don’t have Cappy.

Softlock means the game freezes (not really). once the Softlock is complete you are unable to play the game, so you have to restart it.

I have 2 names . You know Mushroom Kingdom was once an Italian Colony .
First is Fungadina ( Mixture of 2 Italian words Fungo and Cittadina meaning Mushroom and Town Respectively )
Second one is Sedure ( Based on Italian word Sedurre meaning Seduce ) meaning that Mushroom Kingdom was so rich in resources that it Seduced Italians to migrate here .

@@sandman92660 Being stuck in a room like that is definitely a soft lock. You're still able to play but you can't progress. That's what a soft lock is. I'm not sure that I would define being unable to do any inputs to control your character under the same term. Maybe that's what people like to do now and the definition has changed. I only care about this because I want terms to be clear in game development.

Time Freeze won't work on 1.2.0+, that means Bowser, Mushroom, and Darker Side won't work either.
Unsure if Cloud and Dark Side still works on 1.2.0+.

WyattDraws Decently Where you have captured the globe on the Odyssey but the cutscene doesn’t activate until you turn the camera to face the Odyssey. I think somebody did a video about it. Look it up.

I successfully softlocked deadrising 2 by saving in a bathroom near the end of a timed race. Unfortunately, I overwrote my only save and had to restart the entire game. Now I keep multiple saves just in case I ever royally fuck myself again.
Don’t put “EVERY” kingdom if it isn’t possible in every kingdom
