- It’s time to get back into this kitchen because it’s messy and it’s getting on my nerves!! Lol We also added a new family member to our household: Meet Pepper!! She was our neighbor’s cat and unfortunately they developed bad allergies to her. She needed a new loving home and we decided we wanted to be her forever home ❤️

I called the Veterinarian before we adopted Pepper to make sure we could safely have Guinea pigs and a cat. The Vet assured me that they will be okay as long as the cat is not aggressive. We have to slowly transition them to be together. We have separated the piggies from her and kept them in their cage when we introduced Pepper to them! She was more curious about them instead of predatory. The piggies however were terrified. We’ll get there but it will take time before we can have them together without the piggies being in the cage! Our animals safety is a top priority for us ❤️🙏🏻❤️
My sister has a cat, a chinchilla and guinea pigs and they all doing grest together! The chinchilla is fine with them but he prefers to chill alone! They slowly got to know each other and now they're a happy family! Your kitchen looks great! Cheers and blessings from Canada🌟❄🌟💙🌟🤍🌟

I became a cat grandma in September when my grandson moved in with us. Both of them have added to my life. But Camden, the cat, has been such a surprise. I seldom have an empty lap when I decide to recline in my chair, or read a book in my bedroom. And every flat surface in our home is now a “perch”.So happy you were willing to give Pepper a new, loving home.
I think the only way to maintain is to keep decluttering - which you're doing! Knowing the sweet spot of what amount is maintainable is the secret to getting it done. Coming from someone with ADHD tendancies, who went from minimalist to mom to decluttering again, I think the amount of stuff directly relates to how easy it is to maintain.
You’ve done so well in keeping areas organized over time, like under your sink, and the pantry cabinet! Way to go! 💪😃
A suggestion I could make for the kitchen would be to keep the décor on the shelves only, not on bench tops. The shelves can be the "home" for decor. Keep the benchtops for practical items of use for the space, ie appliances. PS Pepper is absolutely gorgeous!!
Aww, pepper is such a cutie! It’s nice too that your neighbor is still close and could see her in the windows and get updates so its not as sad to have to rehome her. I’m glad too you made sure the piggies are safe! I’m sure your kids love having another pet, and cats are also great for anxiety.
You’ve come so far! A couple years ago you wouldn’t have been able to add a furry friend to your home. What a win- win for your neighbor and for you. Your kitty looks a lot like the kitty I used to have. So sweet!

I have the opposite of adhd. I have major depression and the combination and strength of my medication makes it hard to think clearly. My mind is slow and I find it difficult to keep motivated. Thankfully I don't have a hoarding disorder - I'd probably be on Hoarders if I did! - I'm quite minimalist but the kitchen units do tend to get messy with grocery shopping, pet food containers waiting to be washed so I know how hard it is to keep on top of things. I've watched you for years and you have come so far, you're an inspiration!
Good job… just remember it’s ok not to “have” to put decor on the shelves, more to look after 😊
Well done! And I love how you shared your realization of needing quick put-away-ability (if I may coin a phrase?) That makes so much sense -- and yet it often stands in our way! But it certainly is relieving that messes are often largely 'easy' to clean up (just a matter of doing it!) + then hopefully we learn to adapt our habits and/or adapt where we store things to make the putting away even easier :)

Here's a decluttering tip! Keep your reusable bags in the back of your car! Not only does it open up a cabinet in your kitchen - you will never find yourself at the store....and your bags left at home! (it took me a few times of 'no bags' at the store to FINALLY figure this out!)

I have adhd.... sigh.... I have made a huge improvement in the upkeep of the house with these two repeated sayings. When I have something in my hand, I first say... "Don't put it down. Put it away" and if I still hesitate, I say, "Be good to your future self."
Took a while, but it's much easier and automatic now.
That pantry still looks amazing!!!! It definitely has been working for you! And yes stuff still ends up creeping in or needing to go out I think that's normal with any pantry.
We get rid of a few Christmas things each year after Christmas. It has reduced a lot of clutter. Old lights that don't work, bulbs that are not looking good, etc. It is starting to fit in closet easier.
Oh, your new kitty is so cute. Don't worry about taking down Christmas decor because another holiday is around the corner. I am jealous that little bit of ice is all you have. I live in Minnesota and it has been barely above zero and snowing.

Congratulations on Pepper the cat. Glad you talked with a Veterinarian about introducing Cat to guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are part of the Rodent families so please be careful when watching both Cat and piggies together....hugs for you for making Pepper a part of your family. How are you enjoying not having a carpeted kitchen? Our kitchen had a white floor that showed every speck of dirt when we bought our house and switching it out for a grey floor has made a huge difference in my day to day stress level. :)
A couple of your bottom drawers in kitchen side cupboard look like they need repairing too.

Congrats on your kitty. I trained as a vet nurse specializing in cats. What I do for scooping litter is that each week I set beside the box an open brown paper lunch sack with the top rolled down. Have it stand beside the litter box and scoop into the sack. Once a week fold up sack and toss. Then open a new one. Kitties like clean litter boxes so get a routine going once a day. Kids can do. When you move the box, yes, get out of kitchen, put kitty into it even if she hops out. She will remember where the box is. Kinetic memory. Nail trims need to get done about every few weeks. And brushing will help her bond. I have tips on training cats to get nail trims. Will see if I can post.

Aww how lovely you rescued a kitty, I might be biased as a multiple kitty owner but they're the best company!! Great job and getting it all put away. I know how easy it is to shove things in the corner for later but being able to spend 30 mins tackling it is such huge progress on leaving it for months to build up. Having a home and container for things is such a game changer, it's the only way I can keep things in check too :)

Oh my gosh she is such a sweet and gorgeous kitty. Hope the introductions with the guinea pigs goes smoothly. I've also got an interior catflap - we have the cats litter trays shut away in the utility room which is brilliant as it keeps my daughter out of them and keeps them out of the main body of the house. Highly recommend that approach but just make sure the kitty knows where it's moved to. :)

I too need a quick solution when picking things up for when I get home. I try to take care of mail or work clothes as soon as I change or get in. So they don't pile on my make up chair. But if they do get piled up. I try to address them as I can.
