    Rod could suit up and play tomorrow if he had to. He's still got it.

      He is a great player but at his age, he would run out of gas in 2 periods.

      if it wasn't for his knees, he'd be out there playing still.

    At the time of this video, Necas was a 27% FO guy. He's now at 46%. I don't know if he'll ever be dominant in the circle like Brindy was, but I am sure he'll keep getting better at it.

    Rod Brind'Amour!!!! My all-time favorite to suit up for my hometown Flyers. Dude was (is still) a legend and will always be loved in Philly. Really solid point producer but his defensive game and the fact that he was a faceoff specialist is why he was so good. He was one of the best ever 2-way forwards in the show. He was probably in the top 10 all-time greatest faceoff guys ever. The guy was so underrated. True legend and class act. Rod Brind'Amour!!!!👏👏👏👏

      If I had to pick my coaching staff it would be :
      Rod
      Patrice Bergeron
      Sidney Crosby
      All 3 have been captain material since before they got in the league and after. All 3 are their teams’ second coaches (except Rod). They understand the flow of the game beyond the sticks and skates but also understand the work that goes into it.

    1:19 something no one talks about that my father always told me growing up is rod is amazing at face offs. He won more than he ever took and it's a very over looked skill that is very very useful. I thank winning faceoffs to many of my teams wins growing up. My dad was a smart coach. He taught me the right stuff

    Stats: Rod is #4 all time in leading face-offs in NHL history by%

    Learning how to do a face off, isn’t that something a player should already know how to do in the nhl? Honest question..I’m trying to understand hockey a bit more...

    • @tmlrob
      @tmlrob Před 4 lety +25

      Being a good face off man at the nhl level isn’t something every centerman has. But, something every nhl team needs. A lot more than just skill goes into winning draws, especially if you are a third or fourth line centerman. Those guys are expected to win important draws to influence line matchups favouring your coach or team. You try winning a draw against Crosby , kopitar or any top line faceoff guy

      Necas is extremely lucky to learn faceoffs from a guy like Rod, who is a faceoff LEGEND. there's seriously like less than 5 people in world that you would want teaching you faceoffs over BrindAmour. Rod is nothing short of a faceoff phenom, it's actually nutty how good he is at it. he could probably make a good career purely as a contracted faceoff coach if he wanted.

      I think that's a pretty big misconception about professional athletes. The drills that little kids do and athletes do are the same. It's just one is at a professional level and one isn't.

    The biggest mistake the Flyers ever made was trading Rod Brind'Amour.
