This, along with age of false innocence and fiddler on the green, must be the best vocal performances ever from hansi. I'd be honored to be half as good as this. Beautiful
"The Eldar" is Elven king Finrod's farewell to his people, dying from wounds received in saving his human friend Beren from a werewolf. This song is found on the Blind Guardian concept album based on Tolkien's Silmarillion.
this song makes me feel as if an elve, reminding that they have been the first inabitants of arda and that passed a lot of sorrow and pain, was about to feel that elves were close to their end..a sad end of a glorious story
Finrod's farwell to his ppl, after being mortally wounded saving Beren from a werewolf, the next song "Nom the wise' explains this from Beren's pov20 times plus!! amazing
I think this is the closest Blind Guardian will ever come to Queen. The background voices, the voice Hansi applied, the soft piano, everything screams Queen influence. It's also a really beautiful song that ends on a very mournful tone.
@jouzinka Sorry for commenting old post, but I have to say that there is a fourth situation in which the bloodlines of elves and men got mixed up. I mean the lords of Dol Amroth. In the Return of the King, Legolas says that Prince Imrahil has elven blood. In Unfinished Tales this is explained by telling that elven lady Mithrellas had two children with Imrazor who was lord of those Numenórian havens which soon after became known as Havens of Amroth.
my response was to a earlier comment directed towards someone saying it a 40k song, then someone else responded going overkill on the insults calling him a idiot saying noone does 40k music.I was merely pointing out that while first guy was wrong about this song being about 40k the second guy was also wrong saying no band has done 40k music
The entire album is a concept album based on J.R.R. Tolkien's posthumously published work The Silmarillion. The Eldar is elvish for elves...or more specifically, the 'High' elves who lived in the undying lands. or in this context specifically one race of Elves, teh Noldor, who were banished. Yes, I'm a bit of a Tolkien geek!
Nóm is name given to Finrod by Beor's and his ppl, and the Eldars song is a lament i guess to his ppl that he is leaving them, i cant see it being anyone else since Nom the wise (the song)doesnt have anything to do with When sorrow sang! thats about Beren's love for Lúthien and his own fate at the teeth of Carcharoth.
Are your really sure about this? I can't find any hint in the lyrics about Felagund or his fate. And if the next one is already about Finrod's death, why should this one be, too?
This is taken off of Nightfall in Middle Earth, which is telling part of the Silmarillion. The whole album is extremely good and I highly recommend it. Someone made a small description of this one and it states: This is the tale of Beren and Luthien, from Luthien's point of view, if I'm not mistaken.

This song remainds me of a very especial person. I really love this one.
I love this song! It really captures the essence of silmarillion.
Oh the eldar race..... I wish there really were Elves =)

Flipo con la voz del cantante siempre que la oigo.
Why can't they make only such music. Love their ballads and acoustic versions. This is here is perfect!

Excellent song.
that's wat i call music of the gods!
very sad and wonderful song
This song tears my heart apart :( beautiful

Eldar, people of the stars..
I am so learning on piano! One of the best songs on Nightfall on Middle-Earth.
My favourite sooooonnnnggggg ^^
one of my favourite songs :')
The Craftworld sings to me and I'm responding kind... Guys, that song fits Warhammer 40k Eldar no matter what you down there say
damn, I love this guy. uploading the better version of the stuff I like. giant thumbs up for you sir
Beautiful track
One of my favourite songs. I love singing along to it because it fits my vocal range perfectly, too bad I'm too chicken-shit to post a cover. >.>;
such a great album!!!!
he reminds me of Freddie Mercury in this song

Yeap , You're right man this song is about Finrod
His voice sounds like a gift from God himself
To me this means the elves: beautifull, but sad looking to the moon trought the trees
@WB2RM The Eldar is what the old elves were called, hence why in 40k the Eldar have that name (:
@Melissa4164 Hansi Kursch's(the singer) main influence is Freddie Mercury.

Yes, I'm a bit of a Tolkien geek!
And when I say 'last' I mean the last song I'd want to hear just before I die.
Why is it no surprise to me that fans of Blind Guardian search for Warhammer universe links
If you know Blind Guardian..it has every thing to do with the eldar ;)
dat voice!
@Obsidus That's pretty epic! I could never reach those high notes.
I've got the piano score of this song.
A Really beautiful work.
yes, an album from 98' is talking about warhammer 40k...
Why does the video's description say "Vicious Games (Headroom Remix)" by Yello vs. Hardfloor ( • )
What the hell?
lol apparently this is actually Yello vs. Hardfloor - Vicious Games?

Hansi at his finest? :)
I didn'tknow that there was another 40k band out there; other than Bolt-Thrower.
i lake song
@RADIOACTIVEBUNY Its not those Eldar, its where those Eldar got their name, JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion.
Are your really sure about this? I can't find any hint in the lyrics about Felagund or his fate. And if the next one is already about Finrod's death, why should this one be, too?
no, the whole album is about the Silmarillion
who cannot like this one??? a deaf one propably
So is this about Eldar as in space elves, or something else? The guy on the cover looks like he's wearing Eldar armor, just saying.
@SHISCO1 I don't think Hansi plays WH40K...
@CosmicG777 try DEBAUCHERY
I'm just an amateur Tolkien fan wondering what this is about can someone explain?

Master of Angels Ok. I've also heard people say it's Finrod's last words, but Luthien makes sense.
@@Dinoking745765this song is about Finrod's last words, and the next "Nom the Wise" is Beren saying farewell to him
This is one of the last songs I'd want to hear on my death bed. Even if it was just from 2:02 to 2:50
no actually the reason why there can't be a 40k band is because games-workshop would sue them
