Before the match he had said he thought even there would be two in the match, 1 each as they both played brilliant in the semi but Taylor ended up doing the two
Watched this a handful of times & having watched darts way back in the days of Bristow, Lowe,Wilson etc for me this match is right up there in darting history as one of the greatest matches ever seen.Also a mention goes out for the late Sid waddell,watching this just reminds you just how much he's unique style of commentary is missed to this day! I remember one saying that he'd come out with when a player threw three poor darts."What a bag of nails" 😁 what a Legend! My top three fave players of all time LOWE,TAYLOR,,MVG.

And every single dart seemed to mean something to him too. The way he focused in. Not a throwaway rhythm player who just goes bang bang bang. You could see that every dart meant something to him, even if his opponent had tops with 6 darts left to win the leg. A different breed of a player.

Close contenders Phil losing to Barney with a 115 average and MvG somehow "messing up" and still setting a 123.4 WR (was averaging over 130 much of the game).

It really was. The two 9 darters were obviously amazing - I mean out of this world. But you could see Wade just keep on about his business in the background and noise of the Taylor roadshow. Although, I loved the look on Wade's face when Taylor made the second 9 darter. The camera zoomed in on him and he just smiled as if to say, fair play mate, this just isn't my day. But he kept fighting.
@@daimo_4750 yeah that's it matey, tbf wade kept his composure and just thought "bring on the next leg" it worked and it gave us an absolute banger of a a match 👍
@@mitchellfagan7701 I honestly feel a bit bad for the likes of Wade and Jackpot. They would've been four or five times world champions in the 80s or 90s, easily. Or in their own era if it wasn't for the two best darts players of all time sharing an oche with them. Absolute machines. And the likes of Anderson as well, obviously.

This has been broadcast in 16:9 and now it's put in a 4:3 frame, with an added blurry mess on the sides. That's not quite "professional". Just make sure you use the correct aspect ratio and you don't need the blurry mess (and not the strange skinny faces)

what i dont get is how these matches are so fucking long! ik these guys are both relitvely slow throwers, but the standard they were playing at was amazing but it still took nearly an hour! only matches that take an hour now is a super long format but this was only first to 11
