    This is a bittersweet moment in the careers of the original Duran Duran: disagreements, arrogance, drug abuse and animosity. So great to see this TV appearance of one of their top hits, but sad to think about the discord John, Andy, Simon, Nick and Roger were experiencing in this moment that would soon lead to their break-up. We're lucky Duran Duran are still around and performing in 2022. In the end Andy wasn't a team player and chose to go his own way, but I will always miss the rock edge, energy and incredible craftsmanship he brought to Duran Duran.

      @@sleepyJem1982 Andy Taylor was a rocker stuck in a pop band. He also wanted to be a lead singer which was also one of the reasons he left. JT almost went that route with the power station. Both secretly wanted to be rock stars something JT admits in an interview in mid 80s that the original intention for Duran Duran was to lean more to rock instead of pop. It was obvious considering he wore leather all the time. John Taylor unlike Andy swallowed his pride for a moment and remembered where he came from so he joined back. He loves Duran Duran and appreciates what amazing achievements all of them had and what great music they made and it would be a shame to let that go. I guess Andy was too proud to rejoin which is a shame too. Nick is the only one probably that doesnt miss him. Years back he said Duran Duran were better of without Andy because they now have more creative freedom instead of somebody disagreeing all the time. Andy for sure did wonders and contributed heavily to Duran Duran for a guy that was stuck in a wrong band lol. Gotta give him credit for that.

      @@ShoSensei ruffled feathers meaning Andy wanting to do rock and be the lead guy. I dont think they genuinely have bad blood between them its just that Andy was stuck in a wrong band. He was always the most energetic of the guys. Andy contributed to DD and without him there wouldnt be the band we know them but from the point of what he wanted to do he definitely stuck in the band for too long and left in the wrong time when he was already known as the DD guy and was at the height of fame. He left a ship that was comfortably floating his biggest mistake. If he wanted to do his thing he should have gone the Vince Clarke from Depeche Mode route and leave whilst he was somewhat unknown. In my personal opinion he should have never left those guys only later realised what a great thing they had. For a moment no doubt they were the biggest band in the world how many bands can say that..

I don't even understand why you thought your response to my comment was relevant or necessary.

    I can see why they broke up now cause most of their talk shows performances from 81-83 were live or played live to a click track depending on the song(if it had sax or not) but all through 85 with Wild Boys & this song it's "air guitared". You can see a little tension between the PS & Arcadia. 😂

    • @srxt6758
      @srxt6758 Před 8 měsíci

      @@lizchappel787in the earlier years of the group John and Simon spoke because they knew they were the two main lookers of the group so they definitely milked the s*** out of females being attracted to them. Its to appeal to more people and sell out concerts. Later they decided they wanna genuinely appear as a proper band and to a wide range fans so you see it in the late 80s alot of guys also started flocking to their concerts and the rest of the band had more screen time. Early years it was definitely Simon and John that ran the show and you can definitely see that by the vids and interviews with Nick always lurking in the background being their trusted concierge because he was a close friend of John. Roger and Andy? Well those two sometimes appeared non existent in the band and im sorry to say this despite their great contribution to the band musically. Roger got some momentum because the girls liked him too but he was shy and chose himself to stay in the shadows whilst internally in the band Andy was pushy and definitely had a saying in their music. Andy's problem was lack of sex appeal and being stuck in the wrong band. He wanted to be a lead himself and be more rock oriented its why he left in the first place. In this interview Simon says the pay is split equally between them but this was later debunked by Andy who said him and Roger got less than the trio on the other side.
