- After writing "The Grapes of Wrath," author John Steinbeck explored the Gulf of Mexico in a famous boat called the Western Flyer. Since then, the boat has inspired adventurers and scientists for generations, but the original ship was nearly lost. CBS News' Jeff Glor reports on the person determined to give it new life.
"CBS Saturday Morning" co-hosts Jeff Glor, Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson deliver two hours of original reporting and breaking news, as well as profiles of leading figures in culture and the arts. Watch "CBS Saturday Morning" at 7 a.m. ET on CBS and 8 a.m. ET on the CBS News app.

The boat seems all ready to star in the film version of the book.
This made my day. Great boat, great restoration, great gift. Love Monterey
This is awesome, i remember reading stienbeck in junior high science class 😀 👌 👍
If you want to see what Cannery Row looked like back in Steinbeck's day, see the film "Clash by Night" with Marilyn Monroe, directed by Fritz Lang.
Absolutely stunningly gorgeous grand ole Lady of the Sea, Thankyou so much for breathing new life into her honest Bones🇦🇺🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It’s nice that they did that, but in reality there’s so little of the original construction materials left that she has basically become a replica.
Good energy 😁👍
Tally Ho is next 😊

This story has to be a year past it's sell-by date.
Everyone needs a project rich or poor. All we need is a little incentive .I don't think he really cared it was a famous boat.
