During the 60's and 70's I saw Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, Santana, Three Dog Night and the best of the best of those times. Grand Funk Railroad was as good or better than the bands I named and saw in person. Truly a SHAME this Great band is not in the Hall Of Fame.
They AREN'T in the Hall of Fame? That is a mistake. How can rock and roll development even start to exclude Grand Funk Railroad? They were pioneers with their sounds and music. I listened to them when I was in the 7th grade with the headphones my brother had. I STILL listen, rock, and roll back into time...the early 70's, for example...wow. pure rock and roll
The Hall of Fame personnel suck there should be people running it that understand rock and roll from the gut the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now is a farce a fucking truck of shit that is crock of shit and that's about it man

I was 3 but have a sister 10yrs older. We listened to G.F. all the time! Loved it then love it even more now!
@@karenpiotte90 1959 I was 3 I don't even think we had a radio:) Nice to see your still listening to good music:) Peace
I was also 15 and living in Okinawa at this time. Yes, to me this group is in the top. Ten years after was the same way when it came to rockin!
The Best concert in my life
Wow!! That sound great live ❤️❤️❤️ .
Listen to it on the "Caught in the Act" live album!!
Raw energy, as real as it gets
I bought the live album when it first came out- played it til it wore out- still great to get to listen to it 50+ years later- still diggin it
Support the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!
They blew the roof off of every Arena and packed every stadium in the early and mid 70'ds. Was lucky enough to see them in 71.
This show's you what you can do with 100% effort from everyone playing!! This time was the best time in history to alive for Great music!!✌
so true brother. Pure sound and performance. No electronics. No laser lights. Just full blown get down and work. Bands in those days were exhausted after a show> Farner's shirt would've been soaked ... if he'd worn one

@@zippy61 Same. One good thing about being an old fart these days is having the best music of all times, IMHO, as my playlist.

No words!!! Incredible band
Esta cancion es una obra de arte. Tonos, ritmos, etc unos fenomenos
Grand Funk Railroad the first Heavey metal band!

Black Sabbath
@@mike67006700 Blue Cheer at about the same time.
Exelente grupo.
If Grand funk is not in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame something is wrong
this video proves that quite often less is more.
Wow this is GOOOOLD
One of my favorite American Bands! Mark, Don, and Mel! Grand Funk! Jam on!!
This simple component of members, sound and instruments can create such energy and enthusiasm!
0v1
How can this great band not be in the Rock-N-Roll hall of fame, just don’t understand
The biggest selling and most influential band of the early 70s. RRHF is lame. Kiss(biggest in the late 70s) isn't in it either.
You are 100% in this commentary, ...thats right!!
Who cares?

I purchased this album 2nd hand in the UK in 1973 at the age of 10 and I still consider it to be an absolute treasure of my collection. The ultimate power trio of all time. I actually have a German pressing of it as well!
That my man is a raw talent....
Holy shit! Wow, that has powerful.

Keep Rockin’ !!!! 🌺🌈🌸✌🏻🌹.
I looked up Power Trio in the dictionary ...... it was just a picture of these guys .
fuck yeah
It should have been a picture of James Gang. You need a new dictionary.
@@MrWhoevr hardly any comparison
@@ricksalt6860 True Joe Walsh is a rock icon.
@@MrWhoevr Yep and his greatest work was as Joe Walsh , that shit was stellar . My god man Grand Funk had 2 killer vocalists , one of THE greatest rock bass players . One song does not make The James Gang the pinnacle of power trio .
True American rock band Totally awesome
This is the best sounding bass I've ever heard on my phone.
Some of the best bass tone ever!
Ive got all the GF albums on 8 track cartridge ,i agree the bass is BONG RATTLING .
@@bflo1000 You better believe it! I was a freshman in college when they performed this. Rock critics and many of my college peers did NOT dig them. I Loved them!! The Red album Rules. Glad you young people appreciate!!
@@mikelewenson1818 Well Mike, I'm not that young either! Too young to see GFR, but I had the Live Album after it came out and basically wore it out, LOL. You're right... The Red and Live albums, Closer to Home and E Pleuribus was their best stuff ever!
@@bflo1000 Well a lot of people back then were OLD when they were YOUNG. Now they're really OLD. In my mind, I'm still EIGHTEEN!! ( was 18 in 1970 when that song came out) GFR FOREVER!!
one of high school all time bands.. we drove around smokin a little ganja and listening to them all the time!!! ah the 70's were magic!!!!!!!
50+ years later - still the best!
Without a doubt, one of the best bands ever.
The hall of fame is a JOKE!!! They will put kayne west in before Grand Funk!!
Wow 👍
I agree with you 👍
The Hall of Fame personnel suck there should be people running it that understand rock and roll from the gut the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame now is a farce a fucking truck of shit that is crock of shit and that's about it man
after 50 years i still can't get it off ....amazing their energy still rock !!!
They were the Best rock bands back in the seventies And even today When I listen to them they're still great
Awesome! All three of them. The bassist, Mel Schacher could make that bass growl at ya! He is the first one I had seen that could bring that heavy funk, rock sound playing with a guitar pick! Music never dies here. Legendary!👌👌
AND JUST THINK HE WAS ONLY 19 HERE WHAT WERE YOU GOING AT 19 ? JUST AMAZING TALENT MAN.:)
@@jefferyfunk6819 I was a little younger. I was listening to them when I was 13 years old. I know Mel had to be 19 or barely 20. He was the youngest of the three. He had talent and still got it!
@@jefferyfunk6819 Well at 19 Teen I was learning how to destroy Soviet Tanks in West Germany. But I seen Grand Funk Railroad when they did a show in Frankfurt in 74!
I Think the same,..exactly!
Grand Funk Railroad the LOUDEST band !!! WOW! Thanks for upload !!!
Nugent and KISS were both loud as hell too. Worked one Kiss show where Wendy I Williams opened for them. Was up in the rafters with the lighting and pyrotechnics guys, making sure everything worked when it was supposed to. Ears rang later even with com muffs on...
Deep purple the who held those records in early 70s
@@jerrywoods4066
GFR was considered as the loudest rock n roll band in the world in the early 70' definitely from 1969-1972, even Ian Gillan pointed out :
"we are by no means the loudest band in the world as the Guinness Book of Records says. We may be the loudest they ever measured but compared to people like Grand Funk Railroad we’re quiet man!”
Been blasting this gem since it came out! Thank you , goodnight!
nickel bags??? Damn, those really were the good ole days.....
Or Burlap on studio album
Us 'folks' : small yellow paper envelopes.
i lived it too, and shit i am still here
Still listening to these guys at the age of 60. GFR sure rocked for us!
This is killer.. I used to watch these guys on my bike 3 houses down as a kid as they jammed on the porch here in flint Michigan. Craig frost the keyboard player was our neighbor. He was a real nice guy and now plays with bob segar…
Wow, that had to be awesome, wow!!!!
Great Story! I grew up in Detroit loving these guys. Seen them at the Olympia in Detroit on the Closer to Home Tour. Ten tier A Mail Order and went with a bunch of Highwaymen and Zulu's. Not the kind of people you want to Scalp 🤓
Thats an awesome story! How lucky were you?
I’m from Ferndale- those were the greatest times !!!! ❤️&✌🏻---🌸.
I was very young as I sat on my Schwinn stingray at the end of our driveway. I couldn’t go past it lol… saw them from 3 houses away
Yup! So Awesome, and a great show man!!
Super disco!
This is the way rock & roll should be played.
Phenomenal performance 👏 🙌
Beautiful the Best music thanks
Tks Mark, Don and Mel... You make so happy in my youthness... And up to now
