    These videos are invaluable to relatively inexperienced Garmin users like me. Thanks. When I'm too old to get out I'll still be watching these just for the countryside views!

    Hope the damage on your car door didn’t cost much to fix🙏. Enjoyed this very much. Really informative and useful > looking forwards to receiving my 66sr to get using (and good weather).
    Again ~ extremely useful > thank you for sharing
    You might want to ‘duck’ your backing music a bit more while talking¿

      Thankfully I knew the guy who pulled in next to me, a member of the local mountain rescue team, they where doing an exercise on the route we walked. Let's see how much it costs, not the best way to start the day off! Never stop learning with my editing.

      I note that you don’t “calibrate “ the compass before starting to walk?

      @@jamesss1953 I should have calibrating my compass, you could find one other error if you wanted too, but I am not telling you what that is!

      @@ukgpstraining sorry, I’m NO trying to be nit picking ~ it’s was a question. Is it necessary to do so every time. Just like drone flights; many don’t cal every time. Really sorry to come over as a negative

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Před 2 lety +1

      @@jamesss1953 It is not necessary to calibrate a compass at the start of every day's walking, but it is good practice. Garmin recommend you should calibrate your compass when you have moved more than 100 miles since you last switched your GPS on or you have changed your batteries.I hope this helps.

    When following a route that crosses is it easy to see which part of trail you have done and which is your direction if travel ?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Před rokem

      Yes, you have a couple of things that will help you with this. As the GPS leaves a ‘track’ behind you, you will be able to see which part you have already walked and as you will see in the video ‘just follow the arrow’.
      I hope this helps.

    Great video. The Garmin looks a lovely unit. I've had a 62s now for many years and probably like a lot of people I've never really got to grips with it. My Fenix 6Pro or Viewranger on my phone I find much easier to use. Are we now able to use the 62 with other mapping programs like Outdoor active instead of Basecamp? Have you any tutorials on here or website?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Před 2 lety +3

      You can use our free route planning software with your 62. You can find it here - gpstraining.co.uk/pages/ordnance-survey-route-planner - with training videos underneath it. I hope this helps.

      @@ukgpstraining Thank you. Really got to grips with it this week in the Lakedistrict. 20 Wainwright's ticked off and the unit was spot on. One question though how do I set an alarm if we go off route by let's say 10m or so. We were running the routes so it's not really practical to have it in hand all the time. Really appreciate your help and advice. Simon

      @@Ecoroof1986 As this is more technical that we offer on CZcams we have videos in our online resource (over 50 training videos for this unit) - gpsonlinecourse.co.uk/ - I am sure we understand, what we show on CZcams is the 'end result' and our training courses (both online and in person) take you through 'how to do it'.

      Yes, Komoot is compatible - support.komoot.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041768791-Garmin-devices-compatible-with-komoot
      You can plan routes on your OS subscription, but the OS maps will not show on the screen. This video looks at that subject - czcams.com/video/1d9tHYh-8B0/video.html

    Can this be used in Africa, as I can see it comes with the preloaded maps for North America and Canada, can these preloaded maps in anyway affect the navigation process when used in Africa?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your question, our units in the UK come pre loaded with European maps. If you look on your regional Garmin website it will show you what maps it comes pre loaded with in your area and you will also get an option to to buy more detailed maps for any country in the world.

    Charging connectors are 25 years out of date these units are more phone like now than ever and just do no appear robust enough for serious use. I really want one but I just don’t see the money worth with that crappy usb

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Před 2 lety +1

      Please rest assures, we sell over 2.5k Garmin units a year and we get very few problems, never had an issue with the USB connection, but as you may know many people now 'wireless' transfer data onto a modern GPS Unit. I appreciate a modern GPS Unit is not for everybody, if you are happy with your navigational experience with a mobile phone and you have a battery back up and it works for you, stick with it.
