That’s a great question Colleen! So for my brushes, I swish them in my water receptacle which gets emptied out in my sacrificial potted plant that drinks all my paint water. I’ll have to introduce you all to him next year. His name is Rocky
@@colleenmcchesney1482 If you are using the acrylic type paint, definitely use cheap brushes or your risk ruining them. However, replacing those could add up over time, too, if they get stiff and gunked up. One thing I like to use to get acrylic out is alcohol. You can use rubbing alcohol, but it is probably safer to use something like vodka or everclear. It doesn't take much, just a few drops on your palette to soak it for a moment, then swish it around in a little to get most of the paint out, and then a good rinse in water. Hope that helps.

Fountain pen and calligraphy pen inks. I paint with both. The fountain pen ink is like granulated glitter wonderland depending on ink. De Atriamentis copper magenta is out of this world. Paper Plume calligraphy gold and copper inks are lovely!

I have bead box after bead box full of swarovski crystals that I use in my gel nail art designs. Now they'll have a whole new life in my watercolor pieces! LOVE that idea!! And at the moment I'm working on a "Girl With the Pearl Earring" gouache piece, and I have half round cream pearls that would be _perfect_ for the pearl earring. I'm SO excited!!! 🙆♀️ Tysm! 🙏☺️
One Easter we put glitter on the eggs. It was a thing that year. After Easter was over, i was vacuuming glitter for the next 6 months. I don't mind glitter, but I understand why some don't like it.

Oh my gosh, this info is genious! Especially the idea of mixing watercolor binder with the glitter! I recently started using pigment powder mixed with gum arabic for my metallic paint, and I've been happy with the results, however, I'm intrigued by the idea of adding Golden acryillic paint. Highly creative with exemplary photography and narration as usual! In your skilled hands, we always see an enviable result. We have a "no glitter" household, as it always seems to get everywhere. Months later, it can still be found, each speck clearly visible from yards away. I even go as far to open Christmas cards (and anything in an envelope that feels sandy from the exterior) over the garbage. Then I discard anything containing glitter. It gets passed on to anyone with whom you have contact, but you never rid yourself of glitter. It is the herpes of the crafting world! 🤣

Margot I purchased some of this glue, you're right it is great, EXCEPT WITH RENESANS PANS. I just recently purchased the 48 colors and was awaiting the magnets from Amazon. So I started gluing them on to the pan, got interrupted, but even before they didn't seem to be sticking well.. Well..... Then it was time to fix supper my thinking maybe they need more time? I get back And restart. I pick up the first pan and the magnet falls off, I reglue, it falls off. I turned it over and low and behold the glue was eating the pan, there was a divet where the glue had been. Don't know if they make their own pans, via cd cutting or what. But whatever the material they use, the glue thinks it is quite tasty. Weird huh? But I sure do like this glue. My other fav is the ultimate, (@ hobby lobby, not to be confused with Eileen's ultimate glue.) they say it is super glue in paste form. I agree it is fantastic, slower to dry but so worth the wait. Enjoy your videos thx bunches. Have you used the Renesans, if so do u like? What about Jackmans? See u later you crazy woman you. That BTW is a compliment.
One caution, however, and that is the glue you are using to hold your crystals. I looked at it, and it doesn't say acid-free. I have been very disappointed to return back to work I had done many years ago on paper that was not acid-free, so I can't imagine what this might do to your paper over time. It would be a real shame for the glue to eat a hole through it where the crystals have been placed. I know there are acid-free glues (tape, too), so maybe call Blick or someplace similar and see if they can recommend a better glue that is safer for your paintings? You work is so pretty, and I enjoyed these tips and took notes so I can try some new techniques. Really love the tips on mixing the Aqua Bronze with the Golden, as well as using glitter with watercolor binder. ❤

Hi Margot another great video. Hope you got off your chair ok. 😂😂😂. Love the tip about metallic powder and acrylic paint mixed together it looks beautiful. And yeah I get what you mean about some artists watercolour metallic paint and markers looking a dull brown when it's supposed to be gold and dull dowdy grey when it's supposed to be silver. Although I bought a pallet of 36 paints here in Ireland and to be honest I thought they were going to be crap but the price was good . They were were under 5 euros and I'll be honest we with you, I was amazed at how good they were and how beautiful they looked. And the colours were gorgeous. I went out and got more of them. I'm seriously addicted. These are from a store called The Range. Yeah the stores own brand. Artist line. If any of you have tried them you'll know what I mean. They are in a white plastic container with a see through lid and yes the only complaint I had was the paints are in small circles and I thought I would not have enough so I bought 2. And Margot this was last year and I'm not still through the first because being metallic they last ages. You're not going to paint everything metallic. I am so in love with these guys. And I just found another one before Christmas with more pastel colours in them and they are gorgeous. Of course I bought 3 of those. I am so in love with them. But I do love your tips. Margot I purchased some of this glue, you're right it is great, EXCEPT WITH RENESANS PANS. I just recently purchased the 48 colors and was awaiting the magnets from Amazon. So I started gluing them on to the pan, got interrupted, but even before they didn't seem to be sticking well.. Well..... Then it was time to fix supper my thinking maybe they need more time? I get back And restart. I pick up the first pan and the magnet falls off, I reglue, it falls off. I turned it over and low and behold the glue was eating the pan, there was a divet where the glue had been. Don't know if they make their own pans, via cd cutting or what. But whatever the material they use, the glue thinks it is quite tasty. Weird huh? But I sure do like this glue. My other fav is the ultimate, (@ hobby lobby, not to be confused with Eileen's ultimate glue.) they say it is super glue in paste form. I agree it is fantastic, slower to dry but so worth the wait. One caution, however, and that is the glue you are using to hold your crystals. I looked at it, and it doesn't say acid-free. I have been very disappointed to return back to work I had done many years ago on paper that was not acid-free, so I can't imagine what this might do to your paper over time. It would be a real shame for the glue to eat a hole through it where the crystals have been placed. I know there are acid-free glues (tape, too), so maybe call Blick or someplace similar and see if they can recommend a better glue that is safer for your paintings? You work is so pretty, and I enjoyed these tips and took notes so I can try some new techniques. Really love the tips on mixing the Aqua Bronze with the Golden, as well as using glitter with watercolor binder. ❤

Hi Margot another great video. Hope you got off your chair ok. 😂😂😂. Love the tip about metallic powder and acrylic paint mixed together it looks beautiful. And yeah I get what you mean about some artists watercolour metallic paint and markers looking a dull brown when it's supposed to be gold and dull dowdy grey when it's supposed to be silver. Although I bought a pallet of 36 paints here in Ireland and to be honest I thought they were going to be crap but the price was good . They were were under 5 euros and I'll be honest we with you, I was amazed at how good they were and how beautiful they looked. And the colours were gorgeous. I went out and got more of them. I'm seriously addicted. These are from a store called The Range. Yeah the stores own brand. Artist line. If any of you have tried them you'll know what I mean. They are in a white plastic container with a see through lid and yes the only complaint I had was the paints are in small circles and I thought I would not have enough so I bought 2. And Margot this was last year and I'm not still through the first because being metallic they last ages. You're not going to paint everything metallic. I am so in love with these guys. And I just found another one before Christmas with more pastel colours in them and they are gorgeous. Of course I bought 3 of those. I am so in love with them. But I do love your tips. And your paintings are gorgeous with them on. And your Crystal's and glitter. Love it all.. I wish you all a very happy Christmas. See you in the new year. Lots of love and hugs Susan xxxx
