But the conversation is about whether BTC is a store of value presently, not whether investing is risky. The whole point of a store of value investment is that it is LOW RISK. People don't invest in gold because they have a high risk tolerance. I'm objecting to the store of value narrative based on recent experience.

It is decentralized because who do you go after to stop it? Also 1 bitcoin will always equal 1 bitcoin. That means a bitcoin in 2010 is valued the same as one in 2019 because the supply is capped at 21 million. That seems like a store of value to me.
The volatility phenomenon has its roots in excessive (day) trading of the asset. Losing this greedy behavior will be generating stable growth of purchasing power.
IMO it’s because we are still in speculation phase and haven’t begun to see true adoption- I think that will come after btc price gets above 500k- after that I think volatility will not be as wild as it is now
