  • Retroarch is now on the Apple App store. Here I go over the installation, setup, and configuration. I take a look at how some games perform on an iPad with default settings; overall, very well. However, there are some limitations. **Note: Switch to the Vulkan renderer, you may get better performance than gl.** There are no JIT/DynaRec cores, so performance is less than it would be if all cores were available.
Let me know down in the comments if you've tried anything that's noteworthy on any of the cores. I'm curious if anyone has gotten playable performance from SNES special emulation cores.
All of the clips of Retroarch here were recorded using the iOS screen recording function on-device. I was very low on storage, so this may have impacted performance. Screen recording may also be taking up clock cycles that would be better used for emulation, so that could have slowed things as well. You will probably see slightly better frame rates on your device than I was showing here.
    Updates:
    DOSBox-Pure / Windows 98
    • Play Windows 98 and MS...
Touch input games / Nintendo DS

To get better N64 performance try: Settings -> Video Options -> Renderer (gl) change it to Vulkan, then go to configuration file -> save configuration, close out Retroarch and restart it.

Now if only we could get dolphin or ps2. Sadly, it doesn’t look like that will be an option for some time as jit isn’t allowed. Hopefully iPhone 17 will remedy this.
