This feels surreal. I never thought I’d see the day when Retroarch made it on the App Store.
After years of waiting Apple users are eating well!
Thanks EU!
What exactly is regulated under the EU that allowed this?
@@guitaripod The EU doesn't allow any tech company to restrict stores exclusively to their own, and Apple had to comply or they couldn't sell Apple devices in the EU
@@SonicSpeedster2020The complete answer is that Apple tries to remove the incentive to get a third party store by doing this. They are certifying all popular third party apps.
I’m so confused, I thought it would only be in the EU but I’m in the EU and I can’t find anything like retroarch or even delta on the AppStore yet American AppStore can get it? It’s like the opposite of what was to happen lol. I’m on the latest iOS on iPhone 13 pro
Nevermind I checked, ppsspp and retroarch are there, delta wasn’t really necessary anyway for me cause I’ve already had a ds emulator for years that I added to home screen from a website through safari. FINALLY no redownloading every 7 days
Years of jailbreaking and finally on the appstore
don't need to jailbreak been able to use emulators without emulation for years
@@itzdcx7991 true but had to jump through hoops getting apps signed and it wasn't easily accessible to the general public
Jail breaking wasn't required for at least a good 10 years or more. This is much better though
I miss DolphiniOS on my iPhone 8plus
After almost two years of waiting, the power of my ipad mini is officially unlocked:)
Well no, since jit is still restricted
@@lllWicked true but we can now play ps1 games instead of psp games
RetroArch being on the normal app store is great. Especially for consoles delta doesn’t have.
Plus you can have RetroAchievements
@@GrandMasterLynx Love Delta's UI and especially the skins, but RetroAchievement support is definitely worth losing those and switching.
Or the fact gba and snes lag on delta and not retroarch. Gba is vba m which sucks but retroarch has mgba.
@@robmalcolm8042wait for real? Cause N64 games do lag a bit.
Also it is great for EU residents, as delta requires a yearly subscription here.
Great to see iOS finally got retroarch. Great guide, ETA.
FINALLY! Having an iPhone has a fucccc sense now for anybody ❤️🔥
Thanks for the guide. Just set this up on my Apple TV last night for the kiddos to play some old N64 with me. So great to have. Can’t wait for Dolphin/PS2 to eventually come
How did u get it running on the Apple TV? iCloud?
@@javi6115 it’s in the App Store for the Apple TV. Idk which ones can run it but I’m using a current gen 4k.
@@javi6115 It's also available on the Apple TV App Store :)
Wow, nice use
@@javi6115 AirPlay lol
As an android user I'm glad to see the emulation on the iOS going well, great video
My iPad Pro was MADE for retrogaming, and finally an easier solution! It's bloody 4:3, same as old school generations. Havent managed to get MAME running but this is a HUGE upgrade! Thanks for the vid!
Wasn’t expecting this crossover 🤔
The games look absolutely beautiful on the pro version’s screen.
Fantastic news for all gamers even if you don't use an iPhone. Bloody brilliant really.
Saw this a few hours ago. Downloaded SFA2G, SFA3 and Crash 2! Dang! Memories flooding back! This is insane!! Now to buy a 2nd hand controller and i’m good! Works brilliantly on ipad pro!
How do I download the game
This is really awesome, even ppsspp core works really good on my iphone15
Thanks so much! ♥️ I do hope you do the same for the Apple TV version🙏🏼
Great video man you make it easy. I set it up in this thing plays Neo Geo game so smooth and SNES.
God bless U for this easy Tutorial ❤
This is what im waiting for tutorial thank you eta prime
Great turorial. Thanks! ❤
Great tutorial. Thanks!
This was a long way coming but finally 🎉
Got to quickly check it out.
This helped a lot thanks
This will allow my son to wax nostalgia with me on those long airline flights!
He loves Zelda LttP and Kirby Dreamland
You are the best bro, thank you.
thanks, you are a life saver.
Helpful Tip (one that would have saved me a ton of time) Bios files are case sensitive. And if you want Colecovision, in the MSX emulator you can set it to default to Colecovision and works great.
My Apple TV 4K running the emulator all day got psp ps1 gba gbc an a lot more working great
This is bad ass now all we need is netherxs2 for iPhone
Thank you! 🙏🏿
Such an amazing walkthrough. This is my first encounter with Retroarch, and I was able to stumble my way through getting games working and setting up custom controls, but this really helps streamline things.
Would you be able to do a tutorial on getting the Cloud Sync working?
awesome content!
thanks your tutorial
This is amazing
The best tutorial
A couple of things I want to mention:
- You can have the controller overlay autohide when controller is connected.
- On my DualShock 4 the PS button toggles the RA menu, no need to set combinations.
- I'm surprised games weren't running too fast, cause on my iPad I had to set VSync to ON.
how do you enable auto hide overlays?
@@toxotis70 Settings -> User Interface -> On-Screen Overlay -> Hide Overlay When Controller Is Connected
I have quite a lot of input lag while playing on my iPhone or Apple TV using a PlayStation controller and cannot manage to find a solution, do you have the same problem ? 😞
@@theflashback02 Mine has some input lag with iPad for sure, but I wouldn't call it "quite a lot". It's not wired NES controller response rate, but seems to mostly be in line with regular wireless controllers. If I tap a button as quickly as possible, by the time I release the button there's response.
@@theflashback02 often I have a lot of lag when using other Bluetooth devices while having a Bluetooth controller connected.
Might finally use my iPad Air 5 now!
Actually I did use it a bit for remote play Xbox Series stuff.
That’s helpful! please! also make a tutorial for psp and nds on how to set it up in retroarch... thanks!
Thx 🙏
Saw the title for this video and already downloading
My ipad pro that I don’t use anymore suddenly has a fantastic new purpose!
Now i can play games on the plane without dragging a console with me. So happy
You should make a video on moonlight. Tried it out on the iPad and it’s great. Games run better, bigger screen, no noise, and lighter.
I can’t find it is it in the App Store?
Can you do a tutorial on retro arc Apple TV? The app is also available on there. Love this video very informative thank you!
Hi great video! can you please do a tutorial for PSP too?
Just set this up on my 13” M4 iPad Pro. Upscaled every core to the max and it is just jaw droppingly good with the double layer OLED and aspect ratio which is friendly to both 16:9 and 4:3 games. Now I can ditch every handheld except those which can play PS2 or above and those which fit into my pocket. Pair up my iPad with the XBox Elite 2 / DualSense Edge and I am in retro haven.
Don't forget to use crt shaders.
How does one comment make me feel so poor?
Can you please also make an Apple TV (tvOS) RetroArch tutorial!! Thank you :) And perhaps a performance comparison between different Apple TV's for systems like N64 and PSP.
PS1 definitely works better with the metal driver, especially if you decide to use a filter. I haven't had a chance to play with many more, but GBA runs absolutely fine with the default vulkan option, even with a video filter on.
How can I add box art for the NeoGeo games?
Great video!
Im not an emulator guy at all but seeing that XMB is seriously making want to be one.
Nice! Thanks for it. Pls could you share the link for buy that controller?
Thanks!
All we want is ps2 emulator
Yeah i’ve been looking for a PS2 emulator today everywhere I haven’t found one but this one still works great
If you side load Retroarch you get 1.19.1 version with PS2 Emulator added
@@DexOnQuest WHAT!! i’m gonna test it out if it’s true
@@DexOnQuest i’m actually how do I Side load?
@@KingOfFire617 there’s easy tutorials how to sideload altstore and use it without Apple
Thank you brother for making this video .. I remember on your previous.. video we need it that retroarch🔥🔥🔥. Deamn only wish it had dreamcast
nice Video, thanks!
is it possible to sync my savestates from iPad and iPhone?
Thanks ETA, always enjoy your videos. I have a few systems running on this, but I’m unable to get ZX Spectrum to work. I’ve got the bios files installed and it shows them as installed in the core information page, yet it’s not loading and doesn’t show up in the emulator list like the others do. Thoughts?
Hey great video as always. One quest though, how do I make 120fps on my iPad Pro without feeling like the game being fast-forwarded (especially the audio)?
The ui looks amazing i wish it was the same as the ppsspp
Hey buddy great video as always I have a question…can we setup fba neo or only manually select games to load,I can’t get my rooms to read when I scan them
I might switch to this for psp instead of ppsspp
Could you please make a video on how multi-disk games work and how to install them on retroarch.
Nice tutorial.
Excellent tutorial!! Is there a way to play Mame roms too? Could you please show us? Thank you!
I'm a MAME guy since 1996 and I miss it. So I play around with Finalburn for the first time. Works very good but some classics are missing (Pole Position, Marble Madness...). Hope we will get MAME later.
Really hoping flycast core comes over. Or a stand alone redream.
Any recommended front end. Maybe something for Apple TV.. I don’t know if Jason would ever consider starting LB development for Apple my understanding is that it would take a lot of resources and learning.
After years of revoke, I can finally rest in peace
I remember going apeshit when my brother introduced me to super mario world on his ipod touch when they first came out. How far we’ve come
I love how retroarchs literally on everything it’s even on the Xbox 😅
its cool that retroarch is on ios devices now with out the need to sideload. I have been using retroarch for a couple of years now on android and pc and still have issues with where everything is menu wise lol
Retroarch is a pos piece of software. The only reason people use it is because there aren’t alternatives. I’ve been using it for years and I don’t think I’ve ever had an install go perfectly well. I’m sure people will write me off as user error, but I’ve not had nearly as many issues with literally any other front end or stand alone emulator. This time there is something messed up in the config file where all the games play at some multiple of the frame rate. (No, it’s not on ff, that was literally the first thing I checked).
I was hyped for delta, but until it supports more systems, and drops the paywall, it will never compete. We are stuck with Retroarch. It’s like a bad case of Stockholm syndrome.
New to retroarch/emulating in general, i think delta is better if you want to run old games up to the DS wayy less hassle on iOs and ppsspp for psp games, but for games above that i think it’s cool though I haven’t tried it and not sure if my phone can even handle ps2 games and stuff
@@Marstio1 delta won't do Sega or Sony. I play a ton of master system games. If you're a Nintendo kid, sure. But until the devs behind Delta figure out how to make money without holding features hostage, it's not a viable alternative.
Would love to know the performance difference between M1-M4 iPads vs 2018 iPads.
Have any front ends been brought over yet? Retroarch is good for what it is and nice to have to run the games but the interface sucks to use. Really hoping open emu or launchbox or something will port itself over to iOS.
Can we have a tutorial on iphone please, you had me up until the kingston usb drive. trying to get it from PC to iphone to get the iphone to play the games
Mr. ETA prime sir, can you show us how to change the touch screen buttons of retroarch?
I was going to ask you I always go to you for emulation can you do a video on the new iOS final burn alpha kind of hard to set up because it’s all in Chinese
one question I got, maybe a video idea, but any way to use delta skins on retroarch? I prefer retroarch overall but I love the delta controller skins over the retroarch ones
Do multidisc PS1 games (eg FF7) work out of the box, or do you have to make an m3u file like for Provenance?
Can you explain how to set up cloud sync?
is there a way to sync settings across ios devices you may have? like with a 3rd party app even?
whats a good mobile controller for iphone14? ill probably setup retroarch but i prefer an actual controller over a touchscreen
Thanks for the video, very helpful! Do you know a way to add cores manually? I want to play some DOS games but there is no Dosbox cores and I can't seem to download one from the online updater
@@quelquun2538 I found out that the ios version simply does not allow to add cores manually… fortunately the dev seem to add cores quite regularly, they added the dos pure core in an update last week.
Pls explain if its possible to run the ps2 emulator
Any suggestions on getting Mame on this version?
Tutorial for sega Saturn games please!!!!
Is there a way to boost the resolution of the games?
Is there any way to get our saves and setup in the cloud to share across devices?
I can FINALLY justify buying an M4 2Tb Ipad Pro 😊… Best 4000€ ever spent
RetroArch supporting TvOS is crazy seeing as Delta neglected that segment of users.
what's that white gamepad you have attached to the phone? amazon link?
Rip Delta (and thank you for your service)
What happened to Delta? The icon looks way different than I remember a week or two ago.
@@Jahalang82 I’m not sure if anything happened, but for me it’s no longer what I’ll be using
@@Jahalang82 adobe apparently was going to sue them or something like that so they had to change it.
I had luck with everything but arcade roms. Did you have any luck in that area? I see Mame 2003 is available, but I've also heard this version of RA can't load zips. I tried some arcade zips, I tried some arcade files unzipped, no dice
Do the cores come pre installed?
Is there any way to play roms that are compatible with MAME - like the old arcade classics?
Can you send me the link on the controller you have connected on the iPhone?
Does every bios need to be on system root folder or do some of it need to be in its own sub folder?
Wasnt planning to get the new ipad, but now this tip it. will emulators require more than 8 gb of ram soon/ in the future?
Kinda doubt it. iOS is very optimized. The new iPads are surprisingly beefy.
Now I need to buy a nice joystick for my ipad
Can we get a more in depth customization review
Hi,may I ask what brand of game controller you are using with your iPhone? Thank you!
Backbone controllers
Where to download the boxart for the games/roms?
Always loved this emulator but I just wish I could play directly from usb like ppsspp
Definitely need a video on how to set up RA on the AppleTV. Specifically the “Import Content” part.
Only difference is Apple TV requires that you connect to it with a web browser to drop files in
@@PeterDoesFarming I know, but how do you get the Import Content to find those directories?
@@deafmute2501 I just downloaded it and browsed the settings. I’m about to set mine up. It looks like you have to rescan after you load the files. We will see here in a bit after I set mine up.
LETS PLAY!
