    it's good to see the "fun" aspect being mentioned in a review. games' primary function is to be fun. not always "jolly good fun" kind of fun and not all the time, but generally.

      In fact, Multiplayer detracts from single player in many games. Good example is Orcs Must Die. First game was great, then they added multiplayer and other games were not as good.

    Thanks for the great job reviewing this game. The review is comprehensive, fair, and balanced. Lack of multiplayer does not count as a negative for me since I prefer single player More concerning is not enough enemy types, but for that, EXOR/Surefire could produce more DLC. I see no reason why they wouldn't since they have three DLC plus a soundtrack for X-Morph: Defense and four DLC plus a soundtrack for Zombie Driver.

    Hello, good Sir!
    By prechanche do you know some game of your expertise which has a ring-haped skill tree, better ones are branching out from the shared middle-ring section, has 6 main sections ordered into "classes" which borders are interwoven?
    The ring was like: mage - thief - engineer - fighter - psi - priest - and back to mage again.
    Bordering classes could be multiclassed going along their border, but the best things for each class were in the middle.
    For example in the thief, all unreal kind of semi-magical thief-like stuff as stealth and such, on the left side anything trap related, while in the middle all good stuff seen done by thiefs (and pirates) in the movies.
    Last night in my dream, I've played/lived this crpg.
    Seemed interesting enough idea to ask after it in the real world. :)

    When you said "it's just fun", that got me thinking - Would you review Stardew Valley? On the surface it's pretty casual, but at it's core it does a lot of things really well that AAA games want to do but fail miserably*, while having a learning curve that makes watching good players play hurt your brain because all the mechanics go so deep. And no matter which parts of it you like - it's the kind of fun that's impossible to put down. You can chill on your farm or go EVE Online mode with several spreadsheets worth of optimization.
    * By that I mean how AAA games want to give you a million different systems and neverending stuff to do. They fail though, because they are mostly designed around a way to play. Think of ME3 - decisions are impactful, but if you want to reunite Geth and Quarians, there is a step-by-step guide you have to follow - and you look that up on the internet so you don't fail. In Stardew, there's simply so much to do that you can't get everything done and you pick what you want to do first. Because at the same time you have a shit load of stuff to do, but no harsh time limit on when to do it - so you choose your own involvment in it.

    • @TheCallOfTheValkyrie
      @TheCallOfTheValkyrie Před rokem

      I'd say that Stardew still has a plethora of basic QoL issues and things it doesn't do terribly well tbph, but it's definitely as popular as it is for a reason - might be worth looking into review-wise

    Playing this game for a couple of hours. I like this game, but I personally think it would have been much better to have different factions & mechsuit types in general. The research system may give that variations, but as RTS hybrid style, it's not enough imo.
    Idk, maybe because I have certain bias with RTS games like CnC & Supreme Commander, where you can have your own player hero unit from different factions, making it multiple campaigns for replayability aspects.

    • @mhjmstultiens
      @mhjmstultiens Před rokem +1
