There was a comic from the 70s that showed Batman talking to Gordon in his office. As usual Gordon turns to look at Batman, only to find an open window.
But as Gordon leaves the office. Batman comes out from behind the coat stand. Because Gordon would have seen him leave if he tried to go out the window. So he only made him think he left.

Batdick said he wasn't sure they were finished talking, and Gordon was like, "it never stopped you before." That's when he started getting suspicious he wasn't dealing with the original.
I liked in Kingdom Come, toward the end of the comic when everything is coming to a head, Superman busts in on an elderly Bruce Wayne (who is preparing to put on some Bat armor) to help him with the emergency. Batman gives him more info about what's going on that makes Supes leave very quickly so that when Bruce turns back around he's gone, and he chuckles to himself, "So that's what it feels like."

I've never believed that Batman is just hiding, I think he is completely leaving in such a stealthy or unexpected way (jumping off roofs, using his gadgets) that the person didn't notice. The way I always read it in older iterations was that he just doesn't have enough hours in the day. In that CEO time is money sense, he literally has everything he needs, the conversation is winding down, it's time to get back on the clock. The only difference between his departure and a manager noticing the time is he has Ninja and Stage Magician training so ingrained in his act that he would actively have to try to alert someone he is leaving. A lot more modern movies just sort of use it as "ooh, mysteries," but in TAS specifically it almost always felt like "right, talkings over, back to fighting crime."

Part of why it works for Batman, is that the people he's talking to are also busy. Like he is talking to them and then gives them information(sometimes physical) and they are now thinking on the info, then when he's gone, they may do a quick look around, but they also have just been given new information on their current thing and the pressure of getting back to that with all this new info kind of pushes them harder than wanting to keep looking around.

I recall once or twice in BTAS, I wanna say earlier on in the series, when Batman "vanishes" and Commissioner Gordon or Barbara or someone goes to check the window or building ledge, Batman's just seen already swinging away on his grapple. And the show depicts him has undergoing both ninjitsu and magician/escape artist training in order to develop his physical skills.
So when he's depicted as vanishing, it's really more just Batman silently leaving right away and the camera lingering on Gordon for a while for dramatic effect. Because when Batman wants to do something like Hide in the Shadows, he'll be seen stalking offscreen or something and then attacking from the shadows or just the his eyes or silhouette appearing as some goon has walked right past him or so. And the black, dark blue, and gray of his suit are colors suitable for blending into general dark surroundings.

This right here. People are honestly, in my opinion, showing how little deductive skills and cognitive reasoning they actually possess if they think he’s hiding in a box waiting for everyone to just leave.
No, he was literally training in over a dozen different forms of martial arts across the whole world in dozens of different countries, and also learned along the way multiple different forms of magician skills. Things like “Disappearing” most specifically.
He’s distracting the enemy or waiting for an ally to become distracted, before walking away as quietly as he can and then he crawls into the ventilation system or jumping off a building, grappling up to a higher vantage point, etc.

I, just for lulz and giggles, in my little hometown counted 5-6 people, who reminded me of Steven Seagall.

The weirdest disappearing "trick" I have been tricked on is at the mall. My dad and my brother is right behind me, and I just kept talking to them and then I looked back, they're not there and I searched for them but they showed up in front of me (not close but a bit far). I don't know if that was intentional or not and my biggest question is how? How did they go in front of me when I was in front of them? However, this was like three years/four years ago and I probably forgot some stuff that happened.

She (the dog) will wait a while, my mom gets pretty glued to the TV so it's pretty easy for her to slowly grab it and get away. My mom has slow reaction times as well so will give up almost immediately because she also can't catch the dog once the dog gets on the ground. The dog doesn't even run that fast honestly because she knows that she won... Until I'm in the room in the same scenario and I can actually catch her so she's caught off guard
