- To “Know yourself” and to “Become what you are” are two central elements of the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. This was meant to be an antidote to the death of god and the resulting crisis in meaning that would inevitably follow. Nietzsche’s proposed way of overcoming this nihilism was for individuals to create their own values.
Throughout Nietzsche’s works he calls upon individuals to resist the values of the herd which breed conformity and instead to create our own individual values. What isn’t well known is what exactly Nietzsche means by “Know yourself” and “Become what you are” or how one creates their own values. In this video I will explain how you can start your own journey of self-cultivation and to create your own values in the way Nietzsche envisioned.

In the final year of his "sane" existence Nietzsche encountered Dionysus on a sun-kissed beach in Turin ( I'm interrupted by your mention of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Please see his sublime poem The Transparent eye) back to the beach in Turin. Nietzsche said Dionysus was wearing a large Panama hat and Hermes sunglasses. He said they had a 30 minute conversation. I doubt him not. As Hamlet says to his friend Horatio in act one of Hamlet, "there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio". And there most certainly. There is a state of being far beyond words whereby one enters another dimension. Rilke is the best conveyor of this state of altered consciousness, especially in his otherworldly Duinio elegies. And Gurdjieff gives us a map of how to get there. And the connection, Nietzsche asked his friend and patron Louis Salome to marry him. She turned him down and he went doolally. She then moved onto Rainer Maria Rilke and was his friend and patron for many years. Louis Salome also managed to become the first ever female psychoanalyst. It's all interconnected. Skeins of synchronicity in other dimensions. I was introduced to the Greek mystical teacher Gurdjieff a few years ago and it was the best thing that's ever happened to me. All the loose ends are tied up and one becomes vivified far beyond one's wildest of dreams. Here's a quote from Gurdjieff...... "in life never do what others do, either do something no one else has ever done, or do nothing".
Nice one
Coming out the gates HARD with with Panini’s Interior of a Picture Gallery. I always liked The Tribuna of the Uffizi by Zoffany cuz it has statues as well as paintings. It’s a bit more maximalist and marveling at excess vibes.
But the sheer size of the gallary and the architecture is brilliant in Panini’s. If I had to choose, I would choose both.
The Ark brought me here
The music is very distracting. it’s not just a matter of loudness it really distracts and takes away from what you’re saying. you’re laying out some very complicated ideas and the music makes it hard to focus in the arts is very nice.
Hi, can you explain the symbolism behind your channel’s profile picture? I was curious when I saw this pattern in paintings
5:11 How can we choose to interpret them to our own advantage if the way we interpret something is completely determined?
awesome u
Power institutions in politics and religious influences, the Roman Catholic church proved that in both realm's. They rule and shape events by those twin power's. Morals of ones own point of view is suppressed in the collective body through rituals and ceremonies that give a unrealistic feel to the outside world.
Did you make a video about Athens conquering a neighbor because they were stronger rather than morally justified.
what music is playing?
Not sure what song you are referring to. There are links in the description to each song.
@@TheMachiavellians thanks
The traits are not what you made with but it is nature or God gifted the way you are. Then you become a prison of structure. Now if I have the drive how do I know that what I am doing is morally correct? How is it fair that if I am intellectually sound and I do have the potentiality to be unfair to others for my own good. Then this model plays the role of specialization and it can be played on the free market, which can be measured in Value and which is money. Does it not become the game of hierarchy?
Asking a genuine question, not a trying to debate. I hate debates but embrace dialogues to come to conclusion.
He didn’t say God is dead!! He said God is dead and we killed him!
So, in summary, say yes to life?
Imagine a man 80,000 years old ? Well, we can imagine a great many things, and we can likewise imagine the consequences that we suppose would follow from them, yet few of our imaginings would be true ! Where exactly is your proof, Zarathustra ?
@alwaysgreatusa Yeah. Righto.
great content but you need to work on your delivery. it's so boring
You want him to act like some influencer clown?
It would sound dumb to be excited about a boring topic of (but important one)
Why such subjects aren't more popular
