Independent living is different than assisted living. As a property manager of a 62+ independent senior community we have been with out power since Thursday evening. We have called red cross - due to no power can't help. Crowdsource rescue ticket in- no response. We have provided lunch , snacks, water, Gatorade. Was able to find one generator to make cooling center for them and have them charge electronics. No help from the community or non profits in the area. Called centerpoint for updates as we are senior community and was told everyone is a priority. Seniors are not being prioritized!! This is insane the treatment provided.

Why don't these facilities buy generators? We know you take enough money from these people. Why does the company you work for not prioritize their renters?

Elders should never be in high rise buildings . Window should be able to open safely.

@melissas4874 Affordable housing regulated by HUD properties operate very differently than conventional. We have very tight budgets and don't charge conventional price rents- hence Affordable Housing.. Bare minimum necessities. I'm sure assisted living properties are required to have generators. Well, I would hope so.
Not everything is rainbow and unicorns. This is how stuff works, unfortunately 😕

Sounds like the mayor's about to be in for a rude awakening once he discovers just how many apartment/housing managers in H-town abandon their residents, in general. I'm happy to see the recovery efforts are progressing, and send positivity and prayers for all affected.

When the HELl are Officials will be getting traffic lights working again . Houstonians does not know how to drive without the Green & Yellow and Red lights working as it should.
Have not seem any one working on getting the traffic lights for the 2-3 days since the storm !

The heights Tower is not the only senior citizens in the Heights... There is also another senior citizen building on 20th and Heights Boulevard across from the CVS pharmacy.... I'm hoping that they also went over there to see if they needed any assistance...

The residents have to speak up and demand notice as well. One person shouldn’t always have to do it themselves.
