Hi everyone,
This is the building of the new Takom 1/35 king tiger with full interior
part 1.This is the Henschel turret with zimmerit. I have decided to break this build into 2 parts because of the size of this kit. Part 1 will be building and painting the lower hull.
I will be adding weathering.

My wife surprised me with this kit as a Christmas present... she rocks !!! Thanks for doing this build, I was shocked at the great detail on this kit...
Curious, do you have a large collection of unbuilt kits?
I can't believe you decided to tackle this beast of a kit Andy. I'll watch the video when I get home, can't wait!
i was feeling crazy lol
great job mate
sup Luftan
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Samson Christopher Instablaster ;)
6 in the morning in England here, but i still managed to peel my eyes open to watch another of your videos! brilliant build. Many thanks andy.
Manufacturers need to include more interiors on their other kits, incredibly more fun to build. Great video.
Amazing kit. Scale models have come a long way since I built them way back when.
one day model kits will have more parts then the actual tank
I hope so ,
Ya
And they will build tank base on those kits..
And then they will make a model of it.
I use a piece of tape with the sprue letter on it and a piece of 50mm timber with cuts in it so sprues go in side on. It works really well. Great build I watch all the time
Just did the step putting the axles in. I also had the same issue as you. One side went in fine the other started well then had to sand the holes to get it to fit. So don't think it was your error. So far thats the only issue I've encountered. Thanks for the videos.
You could try using magnets to stick the hull onto the lower hull. I stick some of my turrets on using magnets on my wargaming tanks, maybe it could work for this.
I bought this set plus a few tank crews after saw this video. I love a challenging kit. Hopefully I can finished it though.
I intend to make this my next build. Thank you Andy for showing it as something achievable.
So much incredible expertise in armor kits...Thanks Andy...
The Tamiya king tiger is a lovely kit to build and looks awesome when finished but this kit hits it out of the park. The level of detail in the interior is amazing. Great job so far, Andy, really looking forward to part 2.
Thank you
That is looking great! Now I want to try a tank with an interior again :) can't wait to see how you finish it up!
I recently got an email from my favorite online shop here in germany saying that they have this in store, but i didnt want to build it sincs it is quite a beast so im happy that you built it
I picked up the Trumpeter 1/16 King Tiger with full interior off E-Bay for $!00.00. The box had been opened, but everything was there. The original owner probably fainted when he saw all those parts! Anyway, this video will be of great assistance. Thanks! And I love the Classical Music!
I've got two of each Henschel KTs coming. Great to see how detailed these are. It's like waiting for Christmas!! Thanks for the video and eagerly awaiting the next installment!
thank you for watching
Hi Andy,
You are a true inspiration to the hobby, if not a little crazy, for taking on this project but I know you will do a excellent job as always. I look forward to the next instalment . Happy modelling and WELL DONE mate.
Les
Thank you les, i appreciate the kind comments.
Next project,...King Tiger... Takom type...1 off.
What an awesome kit Andy. Brilliant video 👍👍
Outstanding detail, and a real killer to cover all that hard work....
Hi Andy;
looking forward to the completed build. Should look awesome! Quite a detailed out of the box build.
I've been wanting to build another King Tiger ... I don't care how much this kit is, but I'm getting it!
Wow ,Can't wait to see how this ends up
I am Pich From Thailand I like watching your videos a lot. Try to follow every episode. View and understand. Used as a guide to build and develop skills in modeling as well.
It's looking beautiful, Nigel
This kit would be a great starting point for a "Knocked out King Tiger" Diorama, with holes blown in the panels, showing that interior. Bergestiger recovery tank custom build!
This is an awesome kit, I'm currently tackling the Trumpeter 1:16 scale version of this kit.
that's great good luck
I'm finding building this kit in sub assemblies and painting them before going on the kit works best , and I ran into the same problem with the torsion bars as well, if those side walls are not in right the torsion bars wont fit properly.
Great job Andy. Looks like a great kit. With this amount of detail, I have always thought about a diorama on the assembly line.
Thanks for the build review. I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 and the completed model.
Good job Andy...better man than me on building this kit
Thank you sir. Thank you for beautiful videos, and for prompting me back to hobby after long absence from it.
Can't wait to start watching this when I get home from work!
Unbelievable amount of parts and details. Looking forward to part two. I think this kit would be ideal for a maintenance type diorama (not that I'm suggesting you do that yourself - there's that railway one to finish yet!) where a lot of the hatches and covers are left open so you can still enjoy the detailing. Great work Andy - you have a rotten job, but you put a brave face on it for the camera! ;-)
This is an amazing kit. It was a pleasure watching you build it. You did an awesome job!!!
What a great kit , I look forward to seeing the next installment. another great build, well done
thank you going to start building it today
I really like this style of video, where we actually get to see so much of the actual gluing and assembly as opposed to you building a bunch off camera, showing us the the progress, and repeat. I never get to actually build models myself, so I really enjoy seeing the whole process :) You are incredibly talented builder and detailer! Would you ever consider selling a completed (painted/weathered) model? I know it takes out all the fun, but actually building one of these things isn’t an option for me and I’d still love to have one to admire, especially work as beautiful as yours!
I see there is still a good deal of skipping :( Ever think of doing a livestream to show a true FULL BUILD? It would be awesome. And hey, you’re building it anyways so why not!
The most comprehensive King Tiger kit on the market today......
It's been a long time since I put a model together. Absolutely amazing how incredibly detailed this kit is and the skill level to properly assemble.
It is also one of the few with pre applied zemmirit
The biggest challenge I ever set for myself was back in the late 70s or early 80s, I did the Tamiya 1/25 Tiger I with full interior. it was also the first kit I really airbrushed in earnest - it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself. Sadly, it eventually ended up on a shelf in the attic and somehow got knocked on the floor - it's in a spot I haven't been able to get to yet, but I'm pretty sure it sustained considerable damage. Hopefully I'll be able to recover it someday soon and repair what needs to be repaired. It was an awesome kit for its day - does Tamiya even put out a 1/25 Tiger I with interior any more? I only see reference on CZcams to one with no interior.
now that's a beautifully detailed tank kit.......WOW !!!
likes models, likes building models...gets a job in a model shop. Happy man.
This is therapeutic. Subscribed.
Wanted to add something like that....very calming and satisfying.
Andy great review I had to get the kit based on your review lol...I used painter's masking take around each spruce with the letter wrote on it with a big red marker makes it much easier to see when it comes to which spure is which....
well Andy one short cut and money saver in stead of mixing 3 different colors to get red oxide Rust-oleum primer can get 2X ultra cover primer 12 oz can only 3.50 and last a long long time . without the hassle of trying to blend keep red oxide the same shade I decan it so i can use my air brush for the detailing i use their paint on all of my armor it will stick to plastic as well as metal
I've planning to build this kit at the begining of next Year. But first of all i want to read the book about the King Tiger in 1/16 scale. Hopefully my Tiger will be such good as yours.
Andy mate brilliant work big build very nice
Thank you
Thank you very much for making this video! Im thinking about getting this on my 16th BDay this year... Hope it will come true... Youve made a really nice interior with all that simple colours and it looks really good. I wish i could go into a Tiger 2 once in my life and I hope my Models will look sometime like yours!!! My Tiger 2 will be looking like the one of Kurt Knispel as a reminder and honor to him, because he was on of the best gunners and commanders of the Third Reich.
Greetings from Germany!!!
Andy what a great video!!!and what a model!!!y hope some day there be a sherman tank like that, complete with interior!
Good build andy. I just ordered mine online. Hopefully your i can follow your guideline in this video
Excellent job my brother .John from Arlington...we talked marder 1 and air brushes....
OmG the box art is exactly the same as the painting i painted from the internet!!! I bet they were copies!
Tim's scale model building I hope you're joking.
Awesome job Andy. As someone who is just getting back into the hobby after being away 30 years or so I think I'm going to stick with Tamiya for awhile.
Hate to stomp a nice kit like this. 👍😂
Hey Andy, So Far, So Good..........Looking GooD !!!!!
great video, with all those parts I say just add fuel and I'm sure it'll start right up.
with the number of parts think your right
*This is beautiful. This is ammmazing.*
Wow
I love the full interior idea looking forward for part 2
thank you for watching
Just saw this kit in my local hobby store. I really want to pick up this kit. They had both turret kits. A little expensive a $115 Canadian
nice job, looks great so far. thats an awesome kit
Great review Andy October is going to be a great month for us tiger fans,2 from dragon,4 from takom,1 from meng models and one from trumpeter,YAY.
Awesome. Was hoping you might do this one.
thank you for watching
I don't have the time anymore but building model is the ultimately pastime!
Andy, l'm from Russia, please, make a video about KV 5 takom. Your channel is very good.
I wish more German model kits would come with moulded Zimmerit like in this kit. It would be infinitely more convenient for model amateurs like myself
Bottled Wehrmacht I kinda like making my own zimmerit from tamiya putty
This model is well detailed....cant wait to see more
Wow... just Wow! Channel is blowin up Andy congrats and great job!
Takom and Meng seem to be having a race to create kits with the most parts - I look forward to receiving the Trumpeter Maus ( with 1,500 parts ) in December .
I would have painted some of the different interior components a different shade of hull red. Other manufacturers like the ones doing the drive shafts more than likely may have been painted and the colors wouldn't have exactly matched. Plus different textured surfaces would have taken paint differently such as storage boxes and side walls.
Great job on a beautiful kit! Can't wait to see more.
thank you for watching
Gran maqueta, con un interior super detallado y como siempre, gran trabajo el tuyo Andy
Great build, amazing detail on the kit.
the aircraft back there is moving!!!

Thank you for watching

your videos are awesome!you don't waste time you just get to it!
Spoted the enterprise right away lol
Great video's Andy.
Wow great job so far Andy! Thanks for sharing your great build videos!
thank you for watching
25:45 My sentiments exactly, Andy! Forgive me, as I am new to armor, but what is to become of all this incredible interior detail and extra work? Won’t it all just be entombed anyway? I too, feel that there should be some sort of LEGO feature which allows easy removal of top deck, engine lids, etc., so that all of this extra detail can be revealed and resealed at will.
I need this model kit. Ahhh!
love the build, looking forward to seeing the next part.
Oh man I have been waiting for this one!!! looking beast Andy!
Thank you, I going to start detailing I have my super king tiger book for detail shots.
actually, when Im ready to sand road wheels(I build mostly German armor so there are usually a boatload of road wheels!),I will put an old piece of sprue or wooden dowelling that fits into the road wheel, then use that sprue or dowel in a drill chuck, then SLOWLY rotate the drill and hold a piece of sandpaper or sanding stick(best way)against the roadwheel until smooth. If you have a lot of roadwheels this speeds up prep time quite a bit.
That is a mega build, thanks
You guys REALLY need to check out the 1/16 scale Trumpeter King Tiger tank if you think this is an impressive kit! The Trumpeter kit blows this out of the water!
Awesome kit!
Cool kit. I am new to the tank and military kits...but...Finally a real tank kit! One that has a motor and interior. Welcome to the model car world. I like it. How much $$ is this kit Andy? Great video as usual...Can't wait to see the next one. Thank you!!
Thank you, about 80
just ordered this kit on the back of this video, thanks
I wish you had a list of your tools and where you can get them too.
plus how to use them too.
great build@
Great as always Andy ; )
thank you for watching
another beautiful build....do you only build military? just wondering...thanks for all the info you give! thanks man!
sometimes I through a car in but mostly military
Very, very Nice review and build !! And nice music for that matter.
Wowwww ... other best work... Have you a Store? If Yes... What I can do for buy some models?
duuude, I love it!!
Thanks Andy!!
Andy would you mind doing a tutorial on general application of PE parts ie removing from the sprue without damaging and applying etc..Thanks
i did interior King tiger too.. you dont have to glue all covers :) i attached only vital parts, rest is still detachable and reveal the inside :)
Such a huge box.
Nice series of videos on this kit. Was wondering how you managed to pain those frustrating ammo/racks like you did. Any special technique to get such a clean separation between the shells and the white racks? I notice you left off the ammo on the tank itself. Was the whole process to tedious to do them as well? Thanks
Love this kit got one i wood love takom to mack a stug kit with full interior
Would like to see 4 crew members and a Commander in fighting positions if it's possible.
