CASINO ROYALE | Poker Game - Daniel Craig, Mads Mikkelsen | James Bond

  • Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) takes measures to get James Bond (Daniel Craig) out of the Montenegro casino card game in CASINO ROYALE. Directed by Martin Campbell.
To make the poker look realistic the cast were given lessons in how to play Texas Hold ‘Em which included the correct way to hold and protect your cards. They would also play for two or three hours after filming had finished, sometimes with real money. “I’m sure there was a lot of money lost on that set,” said Daniel Craig.

@@cactusmalone in total his era has been good, a quality actor, my James Bond, the one i grew up with. What makes his era such a drastic change for the franchise, is the change in attitudes towards Bonds female counterparts, whilst in total Craigs Bond retained his seductive charm and his willingness to do the devils tango the Female is not seen as just his sidekick and the one with which he shares his DNA but as a free standing agent or in M's case the leader of the entire organisation. A woman with her own respective power. Daniel craigs' Bond also is the first to display issues with his mental health with the work he does for an Org that values him only as a possession and easily replaceable if the need where to arise (as seen in skyfall). The villains in craigs Bonds films have often times been believable, a good example would be Mads Mikkelsen as 'le chiffre' as a person directly funding terrorism for his own economic gain more than likely exists on this earth. One cannot forget that Craigs number one role was to get viewers back to the Bond franchise following the truly terrible 'die another day' and the excellently produced and successful Jason Bourne films. Thus Craig recieved a role similair to Bourne's' as more of a hitman/assassin than a spy. Overall whilst this doesn't entirely work with Ian Flemings Bond its also much more believable, to have a specially trained 00 agent able to take out the Ringleaders rather than an intelligence gatherer or both at the same time.

    • @frederickthegreat5991

@@spacemann1425 one cannot forget however that Craigs Bond was meant to draw viewers back to the franchise following the terrible (for the 007 franchise) 'Die another Day' and the extremely well produced and successful Bourne identity. Casino royales producers icorperated many of the filming angles used in Bourne, including more regular fight scenes styled in a similair fashion to Bourne, as in close quarters fighting with the camera pointed closely at the characters. Also Bonds role as more of an assasin than a intelligence spy (for gathering intelligence) is more believable in modern terms, as a specially trained 00 agent working as a lone wolf to take out ringleaders of the criminal world whilst other gather intelligence for him. i find Craigs era very good.

I love the cinematography in this scene. When Bond gets poisoned the lighting gets harsher and harsher with every cut until it's almost overexposed when he stumbles into the restroom. Also, the audio gets stuffier and stuffier, with an added high frequency tone, just like what one would hear when the blood pressure skyrockets. It's mimicking what Bond experiences, making the viewer an authentic witness to his predicament. Splendid.

Anyone here after watching the new movie?
I never watched Bond films until Daniel Craig came along. He hooked me in and attracted my attention; ever since then, I have loved every bit of his movies. I love that depth he brings to Bond's character and that part of humanity in him.
His movies literally changed the face of Bond movies. The cinematography, the action sequences, made the movies way more darker that it ever was. Loved how in the end of the interview Daniel talked about rarity of James Bond movies. You've added a part of your personality and life to the cinema history, Mr. Craig, and it is a valuable input.
Thank you Daniel Craig. Thank u for great movies like; Casino Royale, Skyfall and NOW No Time To Die; my favourite Bond movie/ any movie of all time. I'll miss you being my James Bond, the one I grew up watching and still do, reminiscing how cool you are all while still looking up to you. ❤
To whoever is the next James Bond they have got huge shoes to fit in. This gent has been the best Bond ever. His Bond has taken the films into the stratosphere. I’ve loved the series since I was a little and cried as No Time To Die ended. Oh my days what a guy.
Daniel Craig’s time as Bond is already over… 5 films…. 16 years….. where did those years go?! He’s been fantastic as Bond. ❤❤❤❤❤
Daniel Craig has been my personal favourite James Bond, he’s set the standard really high for the next actor whoever they might be and I hope that the film is as good as I’m hoping that it will be. If I ever get to meet the bloke I’ll be sure to buy him a drink or ten to say thanks.
Daniel Craig excels all the James Bonds and brings it to this whole new level. This man made a whole new world with his time frame and the position he was in while playing James Bond. Daniel Craig is the absolute epitome of any actor reforming, improving & developing a movie to a 110% piece of work; always going above and beyond all expectations. He truly brings the movies to the top. Thanks Daniel Craig, Ml to my hero Craig... Daniel, Craig :)

"I wouldn't dream of it" is such a nice way of replying to "let go of my arm", when Vesper says that she won't let him buy back in after he loses the initial bet vs Le Chiffre, especially if you watch how she tries to keep a hold of him.
Also, the venomous look that Valenka (Le Chiffre's companion) gives the camera while the waitress takes the drink is just a whole line itself, pure magic (show, not tell).
This movie just ages so well.

I love this film it’s the most bond James Bond movie of Daniel Craig’s era. The later films had a lot more action but this one feels like it’s sticking to the grass roots of the bond character. Not shooting bad guys and blowing up stuff but showing up in his nice suit wooing ladies and outsmarting his enemies without drawing his gun. The whole card game section of the film was so good.
