Ghost Bath refers to the act of committing suicide by submerging in a body of water.
Ghost Bath writes and creates under the assumption that music is an extension of one's own soul.
They journey through the sorrow and sadness that all lives experience, but leave a glimmer of hope. They portray both deep anguish and angelic soundscapes that are sure to leave an impression on the listener. The band started in October of 2013 with the release of their self-titled EP on Solitude Productions (China). This was followed by their debut LP titled, "Funeral," which was released on Pest Productions (China) in June of 2014. - Hudba
Please, don't let Nuclear Blast kill your music like they've done multiple times. I support your decision of going to a bigger label and getting more exposure, but, please, don't let your essence die.
+Von Ray Whose music have they killed. NB doesn't make their bands change their sound. The bands do it themselves.
No they don't actually. One of the reasons bands sign with NB is creative freedom.
+Xander Cozaciuc what about fleshgod?
+silver Gutierrez
Tell that to Sonic Syndicate.
Or The Unguided as they're called now.
+Xander Cozaciuc What, Fleshgod Apocalypse is the only band I can think of that did not get worse after signing with Nuclear Blast. Epica, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom are much better examples of bands who became worse after signing with NB. But that is just my opinion.
Man. The part where he sang "*Incoherent screaming*" really spoke to me! Love it.
I like the part when he says "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
I felt that too
JAJAJAJAJAJAJA
That's what she said......
Jjjssj Totally! ^^ But the song it's great!
Oh you mean the part where he went “AAAAAAAAAAAH” ??
I don't think people realize that when there are vocals like this in a song, they are used more like an instrument. Check out Cold Violet for a good example. Caspian does something similar occasionally. It's another layer/element to the song. When done right, it's amazing. Sounds awesome here! Blackgaze isn't for everyone.
If my sister heard this she would have loved it’ but she was murdered ‘ can’t typed but I’m trying. But she would have ackknowledge this band*. She’s gone but I acknowledge this band for her….i am grieving. Her day by day
I accidentally stumbled onto these guys one night during one of the roughest periods of my life. I lost most of what I had built and loved over 6 years in a very short period of time. The complete loss I felt, the rage, the fear, the emotion was all encompassing. Hearing this song years later I experience that same sensation and it makes me remember what I have now. It reminds me to cherish it even more.
As cheesy as it is, the anguish conveyed says more than any word could.
⁰0000
i hope your days are better now :)
I find it hard to exactly put into words why this song is so perfect.
It's probably the density and beauty of the sound, the surreal feeling of a force that is distant but present. The alien but melodic chord progression that gives it an almost pop-punk aesthetic.
The unsettling background vocals help too, the atmosphere is chilling and completely gripping.
(EDIT: I read some of the comments of this video, I can understand why people dislike this particular sound, but that does not disregard the quality of the music)
Regardless if this Black Metal or not... the instrumental here is very good
i know I'm quite off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released series online?
actually one of the best atmospheric-black metal songs ever
Ghost Bath really nails the sound of broken beauty.
Ikr?! It's just perfect..
At first the vocal style confused me but now I only think it's its haunting and beautiful
someone gets it,
Why so many dislikes? Finaly Nuclear Blast produces good stuff again.
probably the ridiculously bad vocals.
The vocals are an acquired taste. I listen to Silencer too, Ghost Bath's vocals are quite pleasant compared to the former.
+Alan Gurling If you that vocal style you might wanna check out An Autumn For Crippled Children
+RyleZor but autumn sound kinda similar to this song right here, thats what i meant :D
+Traktor Fahren Nuclear Blast is not "producing good stuff", they are simply reissuing an album that has been out for a while now, so they can make money by ruining amazing former "underground"/less known bands.
Yeah the vocals are an acquired taste but Black Metal vocals are supposed to be jarring. This song is fucking brilliant, it's pure emotion, pure, unfiltered emotion and I love it.
But hey if it aint Burzum it's bullpucky
its also deafheaven
Little did I know that even is shit metal people still spam the G,C and D chords lul, the level of guitar playing in these "famous" song are really low.
Kind of like if vocalist of Silencer did Emo
Jesus christ somebody replied and brought me back to something I wrote 6 years ago, I had only been into metal about a year when I wrote this. If you're still listening to Ghost Bath you need to do yourself a favor and listen to Sielunvihollinen, White Death, and Grand Belials Key. Thank me later.
what a beautiful masterpiece, we are blessed to live in an age where so much gorgeous music such as this exists, popular music that's played on the radio gets old quick. but this, true fucking music with true artistic value will be eternal.
Dude, lay off. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Other people can have opinions that are different from yours. The music is beautiful.
@@wenuseefreshmeme1063 pfffff
just saw these guys live in Virginia with Thy Art is Murder...holy fuck they put on a hell of a show bought a shirt at the show glad i did
That M3talhead I literally saw them tonight was kinda hard to understand the vocalist but may have been the Mic or something but other than that they are great
That M3talhead just saw them last night in ga with thy art and damn they blew me away
it was a tad hard to hear the vocalist but i stilled enjoyed them
That M3talhead this nand is garbage
Carter Rigsbee he's hard to understand cause all he does is yell. There's no lyrics. Fucking idiots if you ask me
As opposed to most people in the comments, I like the vocals.
They are quite different!
the more i listen, the more it grows on me...these guys get a lot of hate, but so do a lot of successful bands at the beginning...
Saw them last night and they were amazing, especially when they ended with this song. One of the most talented and heartfelt performances I've experienced. They actually sound a lot better live.
I really dig this. Like the instrumentalisation and the vocals fit.
You mean instrumentation? No? Or the philosophical instrumentalisation? No?
Well I better add this to the dictionary so we can all benefit therefrom. Metalheads these days will never cease to impress me.
Instrumentalisation? Yeah, but what about the imagiminterrianentism of the lyrics? Beautuful!
The piano solo is the reason I always come back to this song.
People, this is called "Blackgaze", a genre that fused black metal and Shoegaze, this genre is speciality cause the distortion and atmospheric sounds are all the time in the song.
The most blackgaze influenced bands are Alcest and Deafheaven.
This is blackgaze
I don’t mean to sound like a pretentious metal snob or anything, so Im sorry if I come off that way. But, the reason the vocals click with people is because of how it brings a lot of realism to any otherwise surreal style of music. The wails of a person in suffering accompany the very floaty yet hasty and depressive instrumentation. It’s a beautiful form of black metal, and may not appeal to you. But understand that it’s just not for everyone, not bad in any way. I for one find Moonlover one of this decade’s standout records, and it is a perfect showcase of (and way to get into) DSBM as a whole.
Yeah, no. The vocals invoke the exact opposite feeling from realism of someone suffering. It sounds like a guy is just shouting to be silly.
Once I realized that he reminded me of Howard Dean, I just can't hear it any other way: czcams.com/video/9j6xm7e5bJo/video.html
36 record label bots approve
I love this band for the dsbm vocals . More bands needs this
One of the best songs of 2015.
+Alan Gurling The best!
+Vladamir Muhammad (The Black Standard)
yeah, i systematically fucking muhammad.
+Vladamir Muhammad (The Black Standard)
cant learn it while fucking muhammad in a desert.
+Vladamir Muhammad (The Black Standard) ......ya SHEYTAAN!!!!!!!!!!!
+Alan Gurling Jan Hus agrees
Love how many people hate on this guy for expressing himself. I’d like to see you do something like that and be as successful
With that logic i sincerely hope you've never disliked a movie without making one better afterwards. Oh you haven't.... Maybe shut the fuck up and allow other people to have their own opinions. Some people dont like hipster bullshit. And thats ok for them. Youre the same asshole to complain about elitists. Grow the fuck up
Wilford Grimley well shit, i think i smell something...Oh yeah, hypocrite. Derp derpity derp!!!
Amazing comment
@@wilfordgrimley4339 asshole
that melody is beautiful
I dunno, on the one hand I think they'd be better as an instrumental only band. But the vocals, after a while, seem to add something to it all. It's quite original in some ways.
BladeChild that's how I felt when I first heard of Deafheaven
To the people hating on Ghost Bath: nobody forced you to watch this video. If you don't like their music, don't listen to it. It's as simple as that.
This I have learnt: Metal fans are terrible. They complain how close-minded other people are but they do exactly the same thing. And complaining about screaming under extreme metal band video is kinda hilarious. I find screaming with (maybe) no words much intense. Silence speaks a thousand words, so does this screaming for me do.
The metal community is very diverse in terms of taste and many are very passionate about it. The metal community has always been elitist, but only because they hold their art to such a high degree.
I strongly agree with your opinion about screaming in metal music. Cheers \m/
That does not mean we have to bash everything different. I know people who appreciate things from Carcass to Hozier.
So, on the show.
It was pretty good. Not stellar, but definitely not terrible. They did end up playing Golden Number and Burial, which I was very pleased about. Not sure how you'd quantify looking "poser" or "fake", but the atmosphere was great, the crowd was super hype, and it was a good time.
+Antenna2heaven acually the hygene is pretty good how do you imagine they keep their hair nice ?
After a stressful day. This is what I want to go home to.
I find this song really beautiful and cathartic, it feels amazing
I can't describe it, but its 6 minutes of relaxing chaos
followed by 3 minutes of piano that ties it together. Just a real nice track to listen to.
Fuck, this is both beautiful and terrifying. It feels like internal suffering.
Was not expecting it to be that good.
Started loving this 4 years ago and still love it today. Love when it sounds melancholic but relieving at the same time
for me This band audibly captures what its like to live with depression. favorite 2015 release hands down.
it makes me really happy and filled with hope but want to cry at the same time..
So true if im really depressed i listen to this song and makes me feel happy im alive again.
Abii Hall Exactly. I don't know how to feel about it but I love it
I can see the feeling u get from this, it's all the above u mentioned. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The piano solo is beautiful

Maybe this recipe calls for lots of salt.

I'm not even a fan of this type of music, and have a pest productions release of "funeral" from this band, but this song in particular is friggin great! Brings back so many memories of everything! My whole entire life, all in one song! This def brings out every emotion there is! Usually only Opeth can do that!
1:45 damn, i don't know why but i love this so fucking much
it’s so melodic 🥲
This is my favorite pop-punk song of all time.
So glad to see that they signed to Nuclear Blast!
Did a guitar cover of this song a bit back. Check it out if you'd like! 🤘🏼
I love this video. It shows you exactly what the bands name is all about. "Ghost Bath" refers to death by submersion in a body of water and that is exactly what this video portrays - a woman slitting her wrists and presuming to force herself to drown while submerged in a bathtub. Beautiful.
By the way, check out my guitar cover of this song if you like.
+IAmWhoTheGodsDetest How did you make that connection from such subtle imagery found in the video? lol
Inline Downhill Vancouver Subtle? It's not hard to point out at all...
IAmWhoTheGodsDetest Your sarcasm detector is broken.
I really struggle to dislike this band, and I just cant. You've earned yourselves a fan lol
very atmospheric
love the epic piano at 7:00
went through some of the comments and I'm astonished at the love/hate this band is getting. music is an art. this song is art no matter how you want to look at it. it was pit together very well and as far as the vocals go I look at it as if anyone tried to actually sing growl or anything else it wouldn't be near as good as it is now.
Where did all these negative close-minded people come from? Seriously, am I the only one that felt I was going to cry from the beginning?
Silvy Honey this song help me stop my self from committing suicide. I realized that I can just bawl my eyes out during a song.
People who hate new sounds and styles in their preferred metal sub-genres. Don’t let it bother you.
@@Xenphobe777 yeah, that might be true. It does seem that people get religious about their metal.
Me to.

So much expressed without a single word needed.
God I remember when this first came out and my friend showed me it. Listening to it gives me the good ol' chills I barely get from songs.

Very Happy for them, listened to Moonlover last March and it blew me away and i still listen to it every day and never get sick of it. They deserve the exposure cause they are an amazing band

MoonLover...
It's beautiful
It's an awesome band. 🤘🏻🤘🏻😎😎
I don't know why the comments section is in such a state, but I don't care. I'm here because I heard this on Spotify. And I like the soothing piano in the end.
Me Too
The piano piece is so gorgeous it hurts.
I can't understand why so much hate to this band. Yep, the video is not a masterpiece but the song...for fuck's sake, it's awesome. It says everything by the instrumental, the screams just gives de anxiety "atmosphere"
Great song, one of my favorites.
This made me so fucking happy. My single favourite song and one of my favourite albums from 2015, and now I get to find their music locally! :)
+Josh Teixeira Same here. Sadly, I feel that the whole album didn't hold up as well but for just single songs, this is my favorite of 2015.
+Decaying Reverie I wasn't really into this band until I heard the song Burial. My favorite "DSBM" song in my opinion.
+Reverend Grim dude burial is a fucking masterpiece !!!
I'd be impressed if this dude could hit those high shrieks during a live performance lol
+DecimationCDXX most of Moonlover's vocals were recorded it one take, first try, so when you see them live, you'll be plenty impressed ;)
fun fact: it looks like snow in the video but, actually, it's all the salt from the fucking comments section
So many people in the comment section who dont know what they listening to lol
This is atmospheric black metal or DSBM so dont expect a clean voice...
Charles Craft50 this is also known as blackgaze.
Extremely deep meaning of the lyrics.
This band deserves greatness.
I would like to take a ghost bath one day
+RobotSucré You know their name refers to suicide, right?
+Josh Teixeira It's a DSBM song. People are here for a reason ahaha
+RobotSucré You might want to read the description of the video before deciding that...
+RobotSucré me too.....but version of ghost bath in the sea!!! :))
suicide is metal
For anyone who doesn't know ghost bath all that well and is just coming here to listen to the song. They do not use lyrics, instead the vocalist screams and wails to express the emotion of a certain part in a song, this may steer you away from the band, but it truly is genius, letting the imagination of the listener decipher the song to be what they interpret. Along with the incredible musical talent of all the other members added to the vocalist. Their album starmourner has some great instrumental pieces if you're not yet accustomed to the screaming of this band yet. Once you take it all in, they truly are artists at heart, letting their audience decide what to feel and gain from their music.
"This one's called 'Stubbed My Toe'"
YYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Lot of people criticizing the lack of lyrics, I guess some don't understand that in this band vocals are just to add another layer to the sound. More like an instrument, the music is the one that drives the mood of the song.
+bledahmetal Kageroyami Amen ! Everytime I try to explain this to someone they think Im crazy
this is the music that sounds like it haunts your nightmares as you descend into madness but very soothing and beautiful at the same time..
This is a very bizarre song.
sounds like a very nice and happy music followed by the sound of a screaming man having his testicles crushed.
Amazing sound!
drums sound perfect! a great song to listen while driving!
The piano at the end >>>
I can tell Ghost Bath is going to be one of my favorite bands. I'll keep an eye out for new work! Stay true. Stay real. Stay depressive.
New album announced today, and new single released. Album art looks great in my opinion. Song is called "Thrones".
Powerful video, the piano at the end gave me chills! This is a work of art!
i dont get the hate. great song, awesome band!!!
don't get the hate?
How about the boring and bland music and the laughably horrid vocals.
the singer is so fucking awful it makes this already crappy song completely unlistenable

I do not understand the hate for these guys
Aodhan M me too
yeah !! possibly because they are jealous !!
Nice to see this masterpiece get some more attention :)
At first I thought the absence of lyrics was stupid, but once I started to listen to more black metal/atmospheric/ and gaze, I realize how its really not a problem. What matters is the emotion the sound gives off. I doubt anyone here can understand or pay attention to black metal lyrics half the time anyway. But I never really payed much attention to lyrics, so I'm able to enjoy this.
Yes lyrics can give meaning to a song but ppl forget that voice is also and instrument
Lyrics are important as they add another layer of meaning to the song, and they often emphasize the general feeling of vocals.
I totally get the idea of regarding vocals as an instrument, however, this dude sounds kinda ridicolous at times, and knowing there's no context to justify that it just makes it not really all that deep.
BTW, you're doing yourself a great disservice by not paying attention to lyrics (check Bosse-de-Nage if you want some lyrical blackgaze)
@@bartomiej3389 I pay more attention to lyrics i can understand and find entertaining or meaningful to me. But I don't often pay attention to lyrics because A. I'm focusing more on the sound and whatever else I'm doing at that moment B. Depending on the band i usually dont care. Songs like love songs aren't really interesting. C. I can barely understand most lyrics, even coming from clean vocals. The phrases i do understand are meaningless because i dont know what else is going on lol.
I do get where you're coming from tho. It lacks meaning and can be really ridiculous, but the music itself conveys its own emotion and i find it enjoyable.
@@bartomiej3389 i agree but idk i like the screaming ;-; and yes its weird , i dont find any other reason to justify it xd ,maybe he is a lunatic i've seen some clips of them they are weird xd
I seriously thought there where lyrics but they were just so unintelligible that I didn’t care to look for them
I guess the music and the screaming really drive the whole emotion of the track

Shrieking with him the way he does, I don't see why he doesn't have any tears in his eyes. I try, and I feel the pain, rage, regret, and sorrow. A true work of art. Posers will never understand

I love traditional black metal and stuff like Mayhem/Darkthrone, but I can still appreciate how amazing this album is, it's a masterpiece especially Golden Number and Happyhouse
Yeah me too; where I’m a huge black metal fan and yet I love this one, which is something unique and innovative❤️🤘.
Are they better than this? Cuz this one sucks. Gonna check out the two you recommend and hope it gets better.
I saw this live and I shit you not it was really fucking good. The vocals were really different too.
I saw them live on Thursday with Thy art is murder and fallujah... and ghost bath are.. fucking amazing live!!!! So full of emotion and the vocals were greattt!

They were actually really good live, mic was a little too low though
same lol
Love u guys, one of my best.
These kids are great! A really needed innovation in the black metal genre.
You should try to listen to the first album (Funeral). “Burial” is my favorite song, it really deserves a listen. The rest of the albums are ok. If you don’t like the music, don’t listen to it. Simple as that. There will always be people who enjoy their stuff, you can’t change that. Better go crawl to your Spotify playlist made out of Mayhem and Burzum songs.
the like, burst beats are so like, transcendental here
Finally found this song after many years.
This video is the perfect visual introduction to this band and "who they are". They remain nameless, which is awesome. It has always been about the music for GHOST BATH and that is very apparent here. This video is chillingly beautiful and perfectly embodies the songs essence in a new format.
Well done, GHOST BATH.... Well done.
dont let those hateful comments judge this band. If you like this band, you'll like it. If not, move on to some others. Simple
Well said, thank you ! :D
Just only heard this tonight and im already obsessing with this song in particular! Even if there aren't any lyrics for this song i'm impressed! ❤❤
I need a tall glass of orange juice now.
Epic vocals :)
I want to argue here that musically the instrumentals are very well done, the melodic tone with aggressive abrasive placings feels right, the vocals can definitely be more of a preference but all band vocals are, bands that sound identical in almost every way are picked apart for their vocals or vocal phrasings, black metal however is a very pure strain of both history and culture that transcends beyond the role of genre and thats why most of the fans of black metal will go so far to dislike Dimmu borgir when they're phenomenal and also originate from the place of black metal. I like this project. Please continue to develop yourselves.
