Love the "ollie fence" for terrain park entrace idea. Maybe only a foot high for beginner park.
4 feet high. Really make them want it.
@@AngrySnowboarder Advaced Kicker section in Kaprun (austria) (2016-2017) had an entrance you had to jump your way in ... at least 4 feet high.... ... Don't know if they do this anually. But even mediocre - some advanced riders thought twice before entering.
@@WFLiertthey dont have that anymore 😢
I support this. Some bike park trails have "squirrel catchers" or a feature at the beginning of trails that basically give riders a sense of the difficulty/skill needed for the rest of the trail.
Parents taking their kids that have no idea how to ski into the park is probably my biggest pet peeve on the mountain. Nowhere else have I ever seen parents so willingly throw their kids straight into danger.
Secret punishment the parents can't really be held accountable.
You clearly not visiting indoor climbing walls a lot. ;-) Sometimes I have the feeling some parents just don't like their kids.
@@thaleamondschatten2891 I actually climb indoors a good bit. While there is still a fair share of unattended kids doing irresponsible/ dangerous things, I still don’t think it’s as bad as what I’ve seen on the mountain.
But I agree with your sentiment. Some parents seem to just not care.
Love the park entrance idea
Honorable mention: people not looking uphill/behind them when doing a sudden carve and darting across the run. I mean yea I dodge them every time and yea downhill rider has right of way, but all it takes is another beginner that can’t dodge as well to plow into that person not looking uphill/behind them.
P.S. this is usually skiers
If you are uphill and need the downhill people to watch out for you….sure you’re not a beginner too?!?! 😂
@@gpaull2 lmao nah I’m not, but judging by your comment you certainly are. It’s ok, some day if you’re really lucky and spend enough seasons getting good, you too will ride as fast as I do. And when you do, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I definitely agree that ppl should check uphill before starting/cutting across slopes.
Can't say I m happy to see people just randomly starts to do a J turn or whatever across the entire slope without even checking whats around them and being extremely unpredictable.
Another thing to throw in there is riding somebodies ass but not attempting to pass at all. The amount of times I wanna dart around looking for sidehits but there’s some fat dude right behind me and if I slow down at all I know he’ll plow into me and then say it’s my fault because I didn’t go Mach Jesus through a green
Bro! 100% on the volleyball knee pads, and impact shorts... golden advice.
helmet too... safety first, as Danger Ehren would say, Jackarse reference
Impact shorts are the bomb. saved my 50 year old tailbone so many times.
People still say "the bomb" right?
My girlfriend tried impact shorts and cause they went under snowpants it ended up being even more restrictive. She couldnt even strap into her board. Turtles actually look less restrictive to me…
2 foot Ollie gate to park is the best idea ever!!!!!! That would make the park so much better!!! Damn you for suggesting this great idea that will never happen!!! Giving me false hope! 😢
12 min rant, love it, keep it up!!
Watching all your Top 5's, so entertaining :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love your reviews but this one has to be on of my favorite vid you did!
For your/our safety beginners should definitely listen to this..
I took out a dad who was hangin out at bottom of the park!! I came off two features and boom, a dad not skiing or snowboarding just hangin out...im a mom but im on a board...comin fast...DONT STAND THERE!!😂
Awesome video very funny keep up the great work 🤟👍
Love it when angry actually gets angry
Love this video 😂👍🏼
Love this guy!
I can finally have my dinner and watch Avran’s beautiful rants woohoo
I've always wanted to wear the turtle stuff just for fun. Might even look pretty badass trying to pull a heelside eurocarve turn, although the turtle probably wont survive 😂
No.
@@AngrySnowboarder heh heh
One of your grumpiest episodes ever..gold
Tough love! I really like the two foot fence for park entrance 👌
Lots of good advice here...
Amen for volleyball kneepads and impact pads. Was a great investment
HAHAHA Second video in on you and I'm cracking up. Good Job bro.
XD im a newbie snowboarder and I do agree. My dumb thing is I dont snowboard at resorts or parks. I dont do it anymore but you have convinced me to just save up for lessons and a park pass
Couldnt agree more!
The most annoying thing I encounter on the mountain, and it's not probably a rookie thing, is people standing before a steeper descent, covering almost all the slope from left to right. I don't know what's wrong with them, if they are scared, tired, or waiting for their friends, that pisses me off (they are 80% skiers thou)
OFFENDED!!!
EXCELLENT!
WE DONT KNOW WHO WE R
I DONT KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT

Hilarious points... I bought the super DOA and RULERs with the union Forces for my first setup last year.. Works great yet very powerful very aggressive verhy expensive. Clocked about 30 days last year, slightly hurt myself twice, and yeah I am now looking at the Good Company and Cartels as an example because I notice the setup already wearing and I kind of want to save the super DOA for Big Air and just bigger stuff in general... I am a big guy... Skateboarded a lot as a kid... I do notice the "dead spot" you mention on them as flexing the board (biggest widest size) is pretty tough. I think I am pretty decent. Yeah, ultimately, like anything, you have to spend days, and get switch days (I am guilty of basically none my first season) and keep practicing.
Solid gear is solid gear man... \m/
Kirkwood actually has this gate/maze thing going on in the park that's near Monte Wolfe. It's not tall, but you have to have some basic control and turning ability to get in there. Otherwise you will get clotheslined and stuck in the snow fence.
“You can’t buy your way into being good”….I want that T shirt! …no substitute for time on board and repetition on your trick attempts…I still love getting and trying new gear though …it’s a bit of a problem 😢
Gear junkie myself...I just need to find what I like best lol
I've noticed waves of strong urges to buy gear during the off-season. It's a way to scratch the itch for me I think, I'll be laying in bed in the middle of summer imagining/remembering runs from last season and wishing it were winter, so I start shopping for gear... or watching YT content.
I miss winter. Somehow I'm going to figure out how to live a life where I can snowboard all year, or most of it at least.
Speaking the truth ❄️🏂❄️
The accuracy of this video had me laughing so hard!
Give us more!
I think having a camera isn’t the worst idea for someone who can comfortably make turns, I did it this season and being about to watch and see what I’m doing it helps me discover what I need to focus on, eg carving more then skidding. Not for beginners but if confident it can definitely help to watch yourself back and see where you need improvement.
If you're skidding a turn you're not a confident rider.
No.
I died laughing the whole way through this “oh there’s little tommy” hahahahah
OMG my insta 360 with my 3 METERS selfie stick arrived yesterday. lol
My old Beginner / Intermediate board is killer. I read the reviews of it and looked at new boards and decided I can use it for 2 or 3 more seasons and still not override it.
You reminded me of the infurating moments when i was working on the progression park, and there would be people who had no business leaving the bunny slopes just in the way!!!
“Willy Nilly” …yes! This reminds me of a time last season when I was in a small park and waiting my turn when some teenager skated in and said hey, this is my second day snowboarding which one of these should I hit? And I said you shouldn’t even be in here, and he laughed and sent it.
2 questions ,Where did you get your attire from? the rental shop at the resort has been giving me a 150 board. by the boardsize charts i am 5'9 and 170 pounds. and should have a 155 board? when i buy a board should i get it 155 or stick to the size the rental shop gives me?
Go ride the 55.
Dude…you’re the fucking greatest!!! I couldn’t agree with you more.
Add to the list, not wearing a helmet. They are cheap insurance.
And, have been gukltu of buying gear too advanced for me. Black snowboard of death. But, waited and rode another board until i got better.
BSOD was my go to last year, and probably be the same this year.
ollie fence, youre awesome!
Angry is back being angry!
The amount of turtles on the Vancouver ski hills is insane…
lol im fuckin dead! truth be told to the newbies word These do make my days better when i need to vent out this kinda shit too love it.
Definitely getting some good wrist guards for next season after eating shit and not being able to wipe my ass with my right hand for a month.
After watching countless reviews then stumbling upon this video, I now know why you call yourself the angry snowboarder 🤣
How did you do this with a straight face! Hilarious!
I thought side hitting urban on rails in the park is gonna be at the top of the list. I see snowboard fashion in th US is next level to Europe though 😁
Nice
Finally someone said it
My friend had a turtle butt pack and I think they are actually not that safe. Because it sticks out so much, when you fall on them it creates leverage and basically slams the back of your head on the ground. Not safe
My mate only been indoor snowboarding less than 10x, got himself a Hometown Hero before he even hit the mountain lmao
Warned him but apparently the graphics is more important to him lol
Yo Avran, rate my setup if I am good to go or a fool please based on the demo segment of not buying too aggressive for having boarded twice only. I bought Union Ultra + Yes Basic + Nidecker Rift boots (these boots fit me best). Thoughts please?
You bought a set up.
@@AngrySnowboarder what does that imply? Bad choice or just that it’s still good?
Definitely agree with #1...here on the east coast it's always the same demographic that wears the turtle butt pads, and I won't say b/c i don't want to get canceled. .I wear volleyball knee pads, butt/thigh crash pad shorts, and wrist guards(in the park) when it's super icy out here. obviously helmet too (edit)
I live on the east coast, and it's so bad I bought a pass to Arapahoe this year instead.
You mean Asians
@plead_da_fif-420 I can not confirm
This but I was speaking of the female variety of the ppl u said.
Glad the demographic that wears the turtle buttpads is the same between coasts and that my observation isn't just me
@@plead_da_fif-420my lawyer has advised I do not answer this statement
Missed ya bud! 😂
I feel...slightly better that I don't get on the hill that much anymore, because I haven't seen a turtle butt pad yet.
Never seen a turtle butt pad...I have been looking for a side hustle for the winter season though......
I do kind of regret getting the free thinker, was a little too much board for me. even though i did get it becasue I wanted to ride halfpipe, and figure it wouldnt be too bad all mountain. Kinda sucks all mountain because of the sidecut.I just grab my berzerker most days now. Did actually get to ride some superpipe at park city this year and the mini pipe at snowbird and it didnt do bad and i even got some above coping airs on both walls. Much less scary than riding the ice pipe at okemo. holy shit
I thought all pipes were ice pipes? Am I missing out, because damn, ice pipes are intense. Never needed razer blade edges til I started messing around on half pipes around me.
No, a good pipe is firm and fast but not icy and deadly.
i didnt know they had coping in snow board half pipes. maybe i should put my indy 169s on my snowboard. 🤘
YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW WHO I AM, AND I F°°° AGREE WITH YOU, AND HERE I AM SCREAMING IN CAPS LOCK. HAVE A NICE DAY!
First season learning at 32yo no injuries, only bruises.
Second season I had wrist gards, kneepads, sacrum guarda, felt invincibile and I broke my collarbone
Holy shit the Turtle Diaper Mfg Corp Inc just got their new product idea - Turtle Wrist Pads ! 😱 10:56
1B. Learning to ride from watching the culture vultures
The wrist trick you did tripped me out LMAO, wrist guards r the play
Wrist guards are not the answer.
What you mean buying a 2000$ Jones board won't make me better from the start?
“Stop it! Stop it!” - ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS!!!
Damn you called me out, first season and I got the Ride Commissioner. Can’t wait till next season starts, snowboarding is a blast.
Ollie 2 feet, got it 🫡
Lol. So right on 🤙
Torn labrum with FAI here - I will keep my wide-ass stance. Legit the only way it is possible for me to ride.
Bang-on, nailed it with the ninja turtle butt pad...diaper full of baby sh..🤣🤣🤣
Hey I agree/disagree with you about buying your way to getting good…. When I worked at shops I’d talk to people about there ability’s and how much they were gona ride in a season , and yes that one dude who had the money and way over buys for his skill or his kid’s skills, well he’s a kook and I’d always try to talk them down to the appropriate level ride but sometimes ya just can’t …but guys who were gona put in 25/50/75+ days and were new to the sport and were humble about it ( witch was often ) I’d try to over gear them cause they would learn how to use that stuff and wouldn’t have to buy a new setup in another season or two, so they might be a gaper at first but they quickly evolved and aren’t stuck with a beginner rig ….. I think we often forget we were all new to this at one point …. But dam I do hate the guy just taken the powder out of the chute cause it was out of his skill set but then I think I was that dude once ….so go ride have fun and dont worry about those people
Cool I think this is the comment I was looking for...I'm a beginner to snowboarding but not to boarding, working and living at the mountain this year because this is something I've always wanted to do. I have a lot of confidence in my heel-toe balance from downhill longboarding experience, and I have an idea for the kind of board I want (all-mountain asym twin with mid-high flex that can butter without too much chatter downhill) but the ones that catch my eye seem to lean in the intermediate category.
So as someone who will be riding as often as possible this season, confident in my ability to pick it up, and knows what kind of disciplines I'm aiming for, I was trying to decide if it was a good idea to buy something that I can grow into even if it's a little tricky to start on. Currently looking at the YES Greats Uninc.
If you have ridden already and know what style and type of board you want, go for the slight upgrade. You'll be growing into it and using it often so youll figure out what you need to do on the board to improve yourself
I got k2 clickers, they seem pretty decent to me, I'm still dialing them in though (i still have my traditional bindings so I can swap back).
Are the clickers not considered good?
I've been hiatus and just got back in this season so I'm out of touch with whats current.
The biggest changed I've noticed is everyone wears helmets now.
If you’re riding the old clickers you might not want to do that.
@@AngrySnowboarder no I got them brand new a week ago.
@@oryxandcake2011 at least you're not riding 30 year old boots then. Have fun with those.
I just found your channel. I'm also a dirtbag snowboard bum from oregon. What mountain do you live/work at?
Hooray for us dirt bags!!! Make a trip to bogus basin outside of boise!!! Unfortunately you might run into Ellstacker...or get stuck on a lift with him like LLETERS this year hahaha
The jump to get into the park would help eliminate some park tourists that think they can cut through the landing of a jump and it's your fault if you land on them because "uphill rider".
First season, thankfully I don't think I've done any of these, I'm just bad.
Nothing wrong with being bad and learning from it.
Fucking love this!!! Turtle diapers 😂😂😂
I'm a lowlander skateboarder that gets about 10 days a season. Progressing slowly and trying to keep my old ass in check. Gear advice is find a real snowboard shop and figure out who knows the gear. Let them help you get gear. Renting stuff from a good shop is a good idea too. Try different stuff before you decide to buy. GoPro is a toughy. You will see me complaing to my GoPro that I will film slow turns on easy groomers. It's because I take pictures from the top of the lift and people ask for footage. My skateboarding isn't that great, so shitty snowboarding isn't out of character for my feed. BTW, I'm not the pro skateboarder. LOL
Nah, he's more right than wrong. If you are interesting in progressing at all, you should always record at least one run per session. It is so much easier to see what you are doing wrong than it is to feel what you are doing wrong. That said, there's no one that needs to record their entire session as a newbie and if recording is getting in the way of their riding, they should put that crap away.
😅I clicked on this video and did not look at the channel title until about 5 mins in. You really are Angry Snowboarder rofl
As a Volleyball player, i totally agree those knee pads are heaven =)
the turtles are worn by chinese girls usually
8:44 That is actually the smartest thing I think I've ever heard in my entire life
Not learning to turn and then just heel edging everything .....
Ahhh thankfully I didn’t meet this list criteria. Me and my 3 days on the hill with my new capita mega death with a good reference stance of 25” and binding angles +25 -25. 😮💨Maybe I should buy a Gilson instead?
Honestly though, I think we need more top 5’s for average riders. 😂
+25 -25? wtf?!
@@TheRealWarez it’s the best.
@@chooseboost Thats 50* of difference... Human physiology dictates that anything more than 35* is putting undue stress on the human body. Can find source if wanted. Just letting you know... by all means, you do you.
@@TheRealWarez I’m just pulling your leg. That’s what this whole top 5 is about.
I turn my amp to 11 and I turn my bindings to +26/-26. ...just to have a little "more."
I used to be kind of obsessive about GoPro-ing things and then realized that I was spending more time fiddling with the cam than riding. So I pretty much stopped.
I am ashamed and confident enough to say that I am guilty of one of those sins
The super wide stance allows my boyz to breath while I am "shredding"; not only did I skid a turn, but I also watched 2 dozen Buckhouse vids-- how am I not an expert??; I am a "cool graphics" buyer- you are a sucker if you think these boards are different. Its all marketing; If I dont record it, did it really happen????; So put the turtle butt pad on my wrists??!! Got it. Will def try next year.
The trees are the last sanctuary on the mountain. Jerk offs that dont know what theyre doin dont last too long in there. Now i gotta figure out a way not to get taken out in the lift line.
I feel attacked!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
You should. You made some bad choices.
