If it's an all black cast movie, I bet the plot isn't just an ordinary plot and involves black culture in some aspect ESPECIALLY in the 2020s, so if she comments on a movie derived in black culture, and she says something ignorant, that would look bad wouldn't it? Once filming is done they have to go back and edit everything. Which is called post production. So this suit on David will definitely be adjusted once the movie hits the big screen. Film or Television, whatever it is everything is edited after filming. That is the final process before promotion and release.

To me, reveals come in 4 flavors that can disappoint or thrill:
    1. Hidden well in plain sight - works well for the story because we're all enjoying the challenge figuring out who it is, and the writer is exercising his skill in making viewers unsure despite all the signs to a particular character. Newbies may be unfamiliar with Varnae, but at least they're able to appreciate the ride as their more entrenched peers spit their theories out and connect the Old Atlantis connections. It also works on the business back-end that some new readers might go seeking out older stuff to get caught up on Varnae's significance, ties to vampirism, Darkhold, etc.
    2. Hidden poorly: this disappoints because everything is too obvious, but at least it makes logical sense in the story.
    3. Hidden for no reason - ever so often a character reveal happens and the audience finds that they don't really care. Shroud felt like that because nothing particularly set him up, and he didn't go on to do anything super significant with the role to launch him into a new era of relevance, so... disappointment? Sure, there was the Darkforce user clue, but his appearance earlier in the MK series felt so random the reveal was meh.
    4. Out of the blue - no one can really guess who it is because nothing set it up, no clues were given to make educated guesses, and/or the character straight up had no involvement in the series before. Do we care if it was the school principal all along if the show took place on an alien prison asteroid with no school or even humans shown before the reveal? Nope. Is it at least witty that we got a surprise human educator in an alien story? Not if nothing hints at the character trying to educate, education being needed, or human values helping/hurting the situation. Almost like a chunk is missing where one of the aliens is doing time for having blown up the human school where the character worked.
Shroud as Moon Knight almost bordered on the 4th as well. If Shroud in his random appearance had at least once said something like: "Hey, I feel like there's something you/MK do/es that must be continued." it would be fulfilling afterward when he was revealed, as a callback to his statement. Instead we got, "Well he appeared for 2 seconds earlier, so like I said, you won't guess it!" and the most significant clue being that whoever it was is a Darkforce user because some incoming event showed it in solicitation. Great series with a portion that felt like a pointless mystery, that means less if it wasn't meant to launch Shroud into new prominence. Varnae, on the other hand, has a whole Marvel wide event behind his game of clue.

I don't think Grace is as racist as all of that. I have a lot of issues with her, but it comes down to her being so business and market-research focused, that is her default. In her vidoes/lives, when she's making comments, it has everything to do with what will be appealing to mass audiences. So when she says something like it's too Black Power, it's not because she doesn't care for it (maybe she doesn't from an aesthetic perspective, or maybe it's actually because she hates the Black Power movement), it's more about what almost 50% of the country will think, who buy-in to all this "too woke" nonsense, and how that could hurt the project from a money-making level. It honestly is causing issues for Disney (Marvel / Lucasfilm) because people who hate "wokeness" talk sh!t on these projects, that are no worse than most of the phase 1-2 movies - they just have more women and people of color involved in the creation. If I were her, and you, I'd be a bit worried about getting people in seats for DC content. Even with James Gunn in charge. I don't really get much into DC - even as a kid I was not into Batman or Superman. I used to root for the villains. But yeah, just my take from someone who watches Grace, but also has a ton of issues with how she speaks on things. It's just as bad when she rips feminist creative choices for being too divisive.
