Fan's power, angle and placement technique has improved to a new height, a level above everyone else. XX was able to do power push with his BH to create surprises against Jang and Zhou in the previous games. But Fan's shot is just so powerful and fast in rhythm that XX has little time to recover.
Great performance from both sides.
There were so many ppl saying XX will win.. Even I am a big fan. But fan is a monster.. They should give credits to Fan.. He almost won it 4-0..what an amazing level of play from him
True, man! The boy is fast, consistent... Lethal! His forehand is insane, with inside out shots... And the backhand is nearly better!
medulla oblongata Idk why anyone would say XX would win considering the last few times they went head to head.XX is my favorite player and not even I would say he could beat FZD even with this improved and impressive RPB. I’m not sure anyone can beat FZD right now considering his speed,power and great form.ML doesn’t seem to be in top form rn so I doubt even he could beat FZD.
Xu Xin was very close... he should be encouraged by this performance!
Xu xin had so much chances to win more sets or even the match but fan plays like a real no. 1. So many impressive shots. The sad thing is that these two are so far away from the european players. But its a pleasure to watch this.

Fuck european players. If they are sick of losing, they they should quit table tennis or study their mistakes and learn from them. How come european players are too weak in terms of power and technique even using fast and spinny equipment like tenergy and carbon blades??
@@eijimuroya8402 They are the elite out of 1.4 billion people. You can't imagine how hard they have been trained. Also, China tt system works so well for their players. By the way, Chinese equipment are not worse than European. I mean just like Chinese national football team, they have nice equipment but it's hard for them to win a game.
Xu xin isn't that far off. You'd expect him to get smashed but his backhand has improved so much. If only he were still young enough to cloud walk :')
Xu Xin is one of my favorite players, but Fan Zhendong is taking this sport to a level that was previously thought not humanly possible. Such incredible reflexes and shot execution.

@@zerotalent191 Yes, but during china open, fzd wasnt at his best. Now FZD has proven to be No 1 in the world especially in the past few months. Only an inform but non-injured Ma Long can win FZD now.
Even if ma wasn't injured it would take alot for him to beat this Fan!

Fan Zhendong is peerless. Xu Xin served very well short to Fan's forehand. Xu Xin used his RPB loop well. Xu Xin drop shot was good. Xu Xin even got some forehand loops in. But Fan Zhendong still had him locked down. Nobody can't beat Fan at the moment.

@Andy Chen FZD will be there since he's the beast now. And I assume China will bring ML due to his experience and possibility to become the double grandslam winner. I'd love to see XX there though.
PS: I was talking about the singles, for the team my guess is ML, FZD and XX. LGY and LJK are big chokers outside China and have no good amount of great results so far. But things might change.

You know, even though Xu Xin lost and he is beyond his prime he still is a pleasure to watch and always gives a good show
I think no penholder in the history of TT was or will be as good as Xu Xin. Xu is the fastest, smartest, and trickiest to play of them all. True, Ma Lin has great forehand and Wang Hao has great RPB. But regarding the caliber of Ma Long and Wang Hao, the fact that Xu Xin is able to compete in par with them is just a wow. hats off to Xu Xin and I will always be his fan.

Yes, wang hao during his prime could easily beat ma long who was only like in his early twenties. we cant really compare players from two different generations
I’d love to see Xu Ruifeng pairing with Fan ZD one day. Considering Ruifeng unorthodox strokes, it would be intriguing to see how well Fan ZD can adapt to the game.
Both are excellent players. Top notches of today ping pong world. Ma long is also good too.
Another universe here!! XX is simply out of reach for every EU.. and even not Chinese player, and he's always been somehow a gauge for Chinese National Team.. if you can overcome him, you've chance to be REALLY big. FZD here shown once again his strength... and today with such an impressive ease and self-confidence that one must just say... he's really the no.1 !!

The problem Xu Xin has when he faces opponents like Ma Long or FZD is his short game. For a penholder, it's simply not good enough. Fan got about a hundred 5th ball attacks. And since he can't banana as well as FZD...well there's not much he can do other than the forehand-forehand rallies.

It almost seems like the CNT told Xu xin to lose on purpose to FZD. Xu xin played sluggish and hesitant, he can at way better than what I saw in this video
Xu struggled with BH. FZD continues to win because he is just so consistent and powerful both FH and BH.
In this game, xx lost reverse counter bh at first n second set and bh flick. No option for xx. But you know Fan is monster has have many option weapon in intens game like this final

XX was slightly unlucky but didn't seem to make much unnecessary mistakes. I'd take this as a proof that shakehand is generally stronger then penhold.

Probably because the pressure wasn’t that high in this game. If you look at FZD in the 2017 wttc final, you can see that he psychs himself up at important moments.

FZD is super fast. As a result, lesser long rallies. To a point where sometimes his games are getting boring. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of FZD. But due to his current explosive-type strategy, I’m becoming less of a fan. Xu Xin definitely played great TT
