    Anyway, this video shows Operation Valkyrie/Walkure in action. This is one of my favourite videos and shows that not all Nazi officials were loyal to the fureh.

Inoltre la Prussia poi Germania e Austria erano più avanzati come industrie . La Russia erano milioni di contadini che usavano ancora la vanga e l aratro li agevolava solo il numero e GB da soli erano capaci solo a conquistare colonie oltre oceano

In his original plan he sought to surrender "conditionally" which was unacceptable to the western allies. And they failed to kill Himmler, Göring, Goebbels and the German Chief of Staffs Keitel and Jodl, this would result in a counter coup that would eliminate the Stauffenburg's government within minutes and would lead to either Himmler or Göring's ascension as thr new Führer

    What an amazing piece of history this would've been if it actually worked. I mean, it was amazing that the attempt happened but imagine if they pulled it off. It would've rewritten so much, the berlin wall, the cold war, so much could've been different if Germany did not fall the way it did.

    • @matthiuskoenig3378
      @matthiuskoenig3378 Před 2 lety +54

      No that would of most likely happened anyway. The allies by this point already committed to unconditional surrender only, and had already agreed to partision/devide Germany at the Tehran conference. And at casbalanca the Americans announced they would not accept anything less than unconditional surrender.
      In otherwords the allies, well America and Russia (the British and the free french were not so committed), had already effectively committed to the Berlin Wall in 1943.
      This would have saved hundreds of thousands if not millions from concentration camps however. And it might have saved non-german countries from getting soviet occupation (like Poland) which might have shortened the cold War one way or another.

      @@matthiuskoenig3378 Then again, at this point of the war, the Allies were already concerned about containing Stalin's influence and the USSR itself. Depending on how the government was operated post-Valkyrie, as well as what the terms of surrender were, it may have been good enough for the Western powers to accept over what they did with Stalin. It would allow both Britain and the US to completely focus on Japan in the Pacific, ending the war far sooner and with a far smaller Soviet Russia. If the nukes are still completed, their true capabilities may be kept secret long enough to stall Soviet nuclear development, and the USSR would not get many of the German technologies they did (mostly jet engines and rocket designs) from captured scientists and documents.

The concerns really came only in 1945. They've seen nazism as enemy number 1, not communism. The terms of some kind of potential and unprobable peace with western allies are up to debate because no one has any idea what they would look like. Either way it wouldn't have been good. USSR was throwimg men at Nazis and were pushing them back quickly. How the war Nazis v Soviets would've ended would depend on the allied help. I imagine they would stop it but either communist Europe or Nazi Europe (excluding France, Norway and the low countries which I imagine would've been freed in any kind of settlement) depending on who would win the war. But I believe that Nazi Germany was destined to lose this war completely and absolutely. Don't want to quote Hitler but he said something along the lines: "Providence has saved me to finish my doing". Yes that's true. Just as it was scheduled for 1 July 1945. The first attempt of a kind of NATO with 47 divisions of the Western Allies. This was also General Pattons plan. But it was too late and risky. After spying information, in 1944, Stalin serious thought to marching on with Its Army as far as France and Italy after a victory over Germany and at the same time conquering norway and denmark in order to secure the Baltic Sea. When it was too late for "Operation Unthinkable", they prepared for a defense of Great Britian against the Soviet Union.

The Valkyrie plotters wanted a negotiated peace with the Western Allies that would have recognized their conquests of Czechoslovakia and Poland in exchange for withdrawal from occupied Western Europe. The Allies would never have accepted this, seeing as how President Roosevelt said that he would accept nothing less than the complete and unconditional surrender of all Axis forces. Even if the plot had succeeded and the plotters made their peace with the western Allies, they still would have been steamrolled by the Soviets within a year. At the beginning of Valkyrie, the narration starts off in German and switches to English, leading the viewers to apply their suspension of disbelief and assume that we all suddenly know how to speak German and it simply translates to us in English. Everyone speaks in English but we are supposed to believe it's German.
      In Inglorious Basterds on the other hand, language and accents have a key role to play in the story. You've got French, German, British, American characters, all talking to each other, there's supposed to be a difference between all of them and the way they speak so it wouldn't make any sense for them to all speak the same language.

    The hard part would have been trying to negotiate a settlement with the West. By that point the Allies were committed to nothing less than unconditional surrender.
    It’s not mentioned in the movie, but the conspirators were in contact with Pope Pius XII (who was head of the Catholic Church at the time), and he offered to try and help the conspirators new government try to negotiate peace.
