Definetely way smarter, faster and look more presentable than modelling the existing house in sketch up first + the extension as well .My boss should know about this as he has iPad on his hand but he hasn’t know its full potential yet. Importing dwg to sketchup then modelling from it is an absolute nightmare and time consuming, especially adding to the fact that you only want to communicate the rough idea how the future renovation would look like. Sometime we need to hire someone from the developing countries just to create skp model + render which is not necessarily cheap nowadays, and also there is huge possibilities of miscommunication due to language barrier.
