- My friend Keith (current air traffic controller/former airline pilot) asked to take his son up for his first general aviation flight. Loving to share aviation, I was excited to help! We fly over their house, get above some clouds, fly the Chicago skyline and give Luther the controls and let him fly. I think he's hooked! :)

I always love taking kids flying. They will never forget the experience.
I got to go on a GA flight when I was about 10 years old. I’m 62 and still remember it!
Good job Kevin. I provided over 350 kids with their first flight. Later I found out that one of them went on the the US Coast Guard and it a pilot. She said that flight was what she wanted to do.
My grandson took part in the Young Eagles program, now at the age of 23 he’s flying right seat in a Lear Jet with over 1200 hours total. He flew pipeline inspections to build up flying hours.
"This is fun!" - followed by a deep sigh! Luther is cool, sharp and relaxed! He might well be a natural stick pilot.
Always great to see you guys “give back” in this way. You never know who you might inspire!
I grew up in Peru Indiana next to Grissom AFB, which used to be a SAC base back in the 70's staging B52s and many other Air Force planes. I would ride my minibike to the fence and the jets would land 50 feet over the top of me. I was hooked. I would stay out there for hours and come home stinking like jet fuel and covered in soot and grit. I was there so much that one day a jeep came out with an MP to check me out. I was horrified at first but the guy was very cool and told me to ride my minibike to the main gate. I did and he took me inside the base in his jeep and showed me around the tarmac with all the bombers getting fueled and the F-111's taxiing...I was mesmerized. 8 years old and seeing the coolest things I ever saw. He took me back to the gate and gave me a ballcap and a flight badge from the souvenir shop. I cherished it. My mom thought I stole it from someone at first. But that kind gesture from that MP and living next to a SAC base influenced the rest of my life.
This young Man may go on to fly thousands of hours in his life but he will always remember this moment like it was yesterday. What a moment it is!
You know a pilot loves his son when he takes the back seat. 🙂
Or atc but who’s keeping track?!
Isn’t he both?
@@MerlinspopTBH the kid in the video doesn’t belong to Kevin. It’s Luther’s(the atc coworker and friend in the back seat)
Yes, I know. Luther is the youngster. Keith, the father, is a pilot, too, in addition to being ATC. Note the first line of the description.
I love see younger generation taken on aviation. I was in Civil air patrol. Made a flight in C-130 to Dayton Ohio and always love air craft. Going to Start going for pilot license at the age of 47.
Luther seems like a really great kid! And his dad too! I could tell they were really enjoying their time flying with you! Luther did a great job of flying the plane and keeping it level and on track very nicely! I could tell he really appreciated the time he got to spend flying with you and his dad. I bet he's going to be after his dad to sell the boat now! LOL 👍
I was right around Luther's age when my Dad chartered twin Piper for a business trip and took me along. I sat in the right seat and did exactly the same as what Luther did here. FOND memories, thank you Kevin!
Great to see young people get inspired by aviation.
I look forward to your videos. The thought of my CZcams without 310 Pilot is upsetting to me.. 🤣
Luther, you did a great job flying! I love to see our youth get excited and be inspired about aviation. Good job Kevin, I would love to see you take more people up especially the younger folks. Take care guys.
Thanks for sharing, Kevin. I do miss seeing you guys and look forward to more videos. Stay safe my friend.
Great job being a stellar mentor!! Your a very kind and generous person Kevin!! Thank you for sharing these awesome flights!!!
This was really cool to see! I absolutely love the aviation community, people almost always willing to share the passion with others. Thanks for bringing us along with you guys.
He will have fond memories of that for the rest of his life!! Very nice of you to do that Kev!! 1BC's engines always sound great, I could listen to those all day, no sat FM needed for me! LOL 8) --gary
Love this! Great seeing how confident the little man was up there especially at such a young age. A pilot most definitely i the making.
Awesome seeing you and Keith!
Good work Luthor !! Well Done.
Kevin you are amazing with people this is one both of you will never forget.
Great to see that very mature young man fly, thanks!
That’s awesome!!! I love flying, and so glad you can spread the passion!
Thank you for the video and sharing the love of flight with everyone on board and the rest of us too. I hope your family is doing well and you aren’t suffering to badly from flight withdrawal. Take care, God’s Blessings, Blue Skies & Tail Winds.
Nice video Kevin! Hope all is well in your world, looking forward to more adventures.
Always with a dream of aviation, a very few chances in Africa. Someone told me continue dreaming, you'll never come out of your dream....
You're a great inspiration Kevin... ❤️
Thanks for supporting aviation and the kids. You are a remarkable man. Can't wait to hear the good news you and Jaime shared with us this past Christmas. Hate to see 1BC go though.
Hell yeah I just sat in an airliner cockpit when I was young and that alone was enough to make me love planes. Wish I could do this at some point!
Luther did a yoeman's job up there! Good to see you again, Kev. Go Dawgs!
Great video, well done Luther!
Great job, Luther!
Nice flight thanks for sharing. I learned that way my dad and uncle where pilots so I flew with them and learned in fact my uncle took a picture of me flighing his plain when I was 12 no one else in the plain. I made what I call a mist approach and he called it a fligh by. Lol 😁 😆 🤣. I soloed with instructions at 16 and went on to get my lessons.
Welcome back fam y’all are awsome give Jaimie some love ❤️
Great job Luther!
Hello from Minnesota!! So fantastic!
I started flying with dad when I was 3. The first time he handed me the controls of his Skyknight I was ten. I became instantly addicted to the feeling of that plane in my hands. I know what the kid felt.
how good is this.. brilliant :)
Congrats Luther!
Just awesome Kev. Nicely done. Excellent production value as usual. Show us sometime how you attach the cameras safely, particularly the one on the tail. Great placement but I'm sure so many would like to know the technique, and any safeguards in place. Cheers!
I wish I would have stuck to guns and got my pilots license 35 yrs ago , you have been a great teacher since I started watching your channel. It's great to see a young face take interest 👍
No better time than NOW! Get ‘er done
Hope you guys make it to Prescott Arizona. You two would love Whiskey Row.
Very cool Kevin 👍👍✈️🇺🇸
You buttered that one!
Hey Dad…MSFS 2020! Get some! Kevin always great vid!
Usually, when there are that many sailing yachts on the waters of Lake Michigan the boats are the multi starts of the Chicago to Mackinac race if this was a Friday (cruising fleet) followed by the next day Saturday (racing fleet). (July 2021)
Hay we miss your recent videos on flying.missu guys be safe
Always loved your videos. Any new news on the future of the channel?
Good video Kevin
My first flight was kpwk-kcgx-kpwk. Great shoreline flight and intro to general aviation.
I did my private ticket training at PWK back in the day. Did numerous touch and go's and full stops back in the day at CGX in the 90's before they tore it up. Took lots of video into CGX. I always greased my landings there. Don't know why. LOL. PWK today does not even look the same.
Very nice Channel.
A+ Flight
Very cool!! If I coulda done that when I was 10, life might have turned out a lot differently. ~Frank
So..... you would be a pilot instead of a social worker?
He did an amazing job flying great job young man
A great flight video Kevin, but then all of your videos are, as the 1000s of us followers know! I too had taken kids and teens flying when I was a private pilot many years ago in the 90s. At least 2 became airline pilots. Just not me, lol! - I'm starting to get to know the Chicago area!
Y’all had a nice little flight around Chicago area
UGA, glad for another dead-head. Very cool the young 'un getting to pilot. He looks to be about my age when my uncle took me up in a 150. Looking forward to the next installment. WPS Razorbacks! >>>===> SEC!
Verey nice
Nothing better than funflights. When you getting float plane endorsement?. Then come to Canada for float plane fun!
Greased it :)
Tally Ho 1BC, still loving your run ups to v1
🌏🇦🇺
Love your videos. Have you decided not to sell the plane and hanger?
Kevin,
The next generation of Astronauts was your co pilot!
Cheers,
Rik
Nice view from above isn't it
I really enjoy your videos. Did you sell 1 Bravo Charlie or has plans changed?
Hi, how long does it take to study a commercial aviation license?
The Civil Air Patrol cadet program is a great program for kids who are interested in aviation
He. Looked so relaxed. Flying your 310.
If you have Civil Air patrol there. When he starts high school. Have him try that
Back in the. 70's. I had a chance to start when I was 15. I didn't. And now I am kicking my self for not doing it. So. Please. Have his dad. Help him follow his dreams
Great job Kevin all the best Don’t sell her keep it Cheers
Its gone
Did you get to do the Western trip before you sold N771BC? Love your videos.
I read on another forum there were some complications on the western trip. What that means, I don't know. I suspect we have a handful of videos left before he wraps things up.
This plane did not fly a lot since returning from OSHKOSH 2021 on Aug 7, 2021. It appears that the plane went as far west as Albuquerque on Sep 29, and returned Oct 5. It was offered for sale via video on Dec 17, 2021, and flew in the pattern once on Dec 18. Then, it appears to have been picked up or otherwise delivered to the new owner on Feb 7, 2022 in southern Ohio. It doesn't appear to have flown even once in between while it was for sale.
Do you have video of the camera tech you use?
are you coming back with ha new plane ?
Kevin, how many hours do you have? Just curious.
Well this is a pretty good video that little Feller did pretty good on flying especially keeping altitude. You could tell he was satisfied from the Psy that he made from being so content. I do have a question though although you generally don't answer anyone but are you still going to sell your aircraft? Y'all have a great day and stay safe keep your powder dry! PS keep your eye on the sky!
Terry - it’s long gone. Kevin is working through his backlog of flights. Great to watch.
👍👍
How about an update what if anything are you flying theses days.
I haven't seen anything lately or an update on reason you sold 1BC and what have you been doing since. Any chance on an update?
Pretty cool what cameras you using and how are you recording the audio ?
eewas that keith smith and his son? from pilotedge
Shame on Keith, teaching Luther the 'B' (boat) word over the 'P' (plane) word!
You did good Luther, dad and Kevin are proud.
Did you decide not to sell the 310 and hanger?
Do you also think the tv show you watched was filmed the day it aired?
Did you sell 1BC yet? Fun flight!
He sold back around the first of the year. These are catch-up videos
@@davidfrench5407 I did notice that it wasn't for sale anymore. Do you know if he bought another plane? He's always way behind in getting out videos.
@@robertwren2289 His says he's not for now. He says he and Jaime are working a LOT more, think they moved further away from the airport, and he can retire in a decade or less, and he'll buy one then.
@@davidfrench5407 I didn't see that coming!😢I thought he might get a turbo prop. If you can; tell them we all wish them the very best!
@@robertwren2289 I don't know Kevin and Jaime,, I do know the forum Kevin posts on, and I see what he posts over there, but don't have any connection to him.
can you take me for a flight? I have never flown in a Cessna 310
Somebody tell Luther and his Dad that Luther can solo and be certificated in a motor-glider at 14.
This is awesome! Super cool of you to take kids flying!
"Flying a plane is kinda stressful." Yes. Yes it is. 😀
2nd comment nice video
Maybe a future Air Force F22 or F35 pilot...!
Are they still flying or is the plan sold hanger sold
All sold. Sold around the first of the year, these videos are from last summer.
Is it wrong of me to make airplane noises on my head while you are flying around?
Well Done Kevin. My money is on Luther to be a pilot by age 16
No more Jamie??
Would I be amiss if I thought this man is the one who bought N771BC??
Very much so because N771BC is in my neck of the woods now in Ohio.
@@kevincollins8014 Really? Very Cool. Glad she went to a good home, closer to TAS for service also.
the cool part is that you won't know what fire you lit in that child for a decade..
BEST VID AND IM FIRST COMMENT
Wow, happy for you.
@@vkradio1656 I was excited I never got to be the first comment
Read?
Would be more inspiring if you actually showed the kids face when you left the ground, surely the best bit yeah. 3 cameras and all pointing elsewhere.
“surely the best bit yeah 😭😭
Thought you sold 310
He did. These are catch up videos from last summer.
