  • @hobokyle7504
    @hobokyle7504 Před měsícem +21

    Ohtani's contract is 10 years for $700 ($70M a year) but he's deferring ~97% of his salary ($68M a year) for 10 years so he'll "only" be paid $2M a year for the next 10 years (and only in 2034-2043 will be getting that $68M per year). I don't know, this doesn't sound like somebody with a multi-million dollar gambling problem to me (or maybe he's just gambling away all that lucrative New Balance money??).

    • @hobokyle7504
      @hobokyle7504 Před měsícem +1

      @@oli.y I think it has something to do with MLB salary caps/luxury tax. If he agrees to a deferment, they can get more high value players without hitting salary cap and paying the luxury tax (to punish teams that try to "buy" a world series). I am not an expert by any means, but I think if they pay Ohtani when he's not playing for them they can avoid counting that 68M/yr towards the cap (thus allowing them to pay him and other players more in the long run since they are saving so much by not hitting cap).

    Brian I just wanted to let u know I am someone who lives for baseball. Been playing it since I was 4 and watch 162 Phillies games a year. It is the best reality show in the world. U get to know the players so well by the end of the season. I drove 13 hours with my father to clear water and didn’t sleep for 36 hours just to watch Phillies spring training with my dad. It’s hard to truly understand what makes baseball great to most ppl. Especially in the adhd go go go world

      The way the statute was written in the Bank Secrecy Act, "willful blindness" is not a legal defense. Ohtani is legally responsible for his own financial transactions. Plus his accountants, agents, etc, all should have been monitoring his money. Somebody should have red flagged the missing $4.5M.

In the past year Chelsea have spent 1 billion dollars on buying players! They also have a Saudi Arabia investor. Just food for thought.

I told them after their son threw a iPhone at my daughter and I choked him out,I placed him in their Mercedes and said never contact me again. We have enough money to live comfortable lives.
