- This truck is a 8/10 - reason for loosing a few points is the wide temperature based MPG inconsistencies. With a swing of over 5mpg with a 30-40deg temp difference seems wild to me - if I had to guess I'd be leaning on the side of air density changes with temp

3.0l is tragically underrated. Such a great motor that's so often overlooked.
Considering the shape and weight of what that engine is trying to drag around, I'd call that net result pretty impressive.
I drive at 65 on the highway, you don't save much time going faster but you save a ton of money. I get 32 mpg on highway with my 3.0 with hybrid tires and bed cover.
Get what you vote for - well said. Your buddy’s lifetime average was probably due to him driving in the city
In the winter, use a grill cover to retain heat in the engine bay. 28 mpg for a full-sized 4x4 pickup is awesome!!
"Thanks, Karen." - that made my day
I was able to get 27.4 with the same truck but 2022.5
Mine has a 6” lift with 37s
Looks amazing and drives fantastic
But the around town MPG is horrible
Still nothing impairs to my 2019 ZR2 Duramax
44+ mpg and it’s a mountain goat
Around town driving (short trips) doesn't allow the motor to get up to temp where the efficiency lies. Let the motor warm up (especially if you have the remote start option) for 4-5 minutes, especially on colder days. You will notice a difference.
I think a lot of that phenomenal feel economy on the first day was your low average speed. I know I get the same fuel economy in my truck that’s a 3.5 L eco-boost no matter if I’m driving in the city or the highway. About 17 in the city and maybe 18 on the highway, but keep in mind with our highway speed limits, I’m traveling 75 to 85 miles an hour. No matter how dynamic they make these trucks they’re still a giant box. It takes a lot of energy to push them through the air.
Houston Tx... in the city reg 2.89ish. diesel 3.50ish
outside the city on the highways.. reg 240ish diesel 315ish
I’m in SE Michigan as well. Do you know any fuel stations where I can fill my DEF at the pump?
Loves is generally where I head to. Not many around me but one that I pass weekly to commute to my girlfriends house the fuel pad is always empty so you can sneak in and get it pretty fast. Kwik Trips in Wisconsin rock as they have the DEF pump where you can pay right at the pump with a regular credit card!
Diesel at Sams club in florida 3.30 a gallon. Your governor wants to cut pipe line wait if that happens
The AT4X is way outside my budget...but how do the AT4 hold up with city driving (3.0 vs 5.3)? My commute is a maximum of 10 miles, but is 100% city. I do some highway driving time to time but primarily suburban USA.
I currently own a 2023 Tundra (8,500 mi). I love the truck, but the premature engine failures have me concerned. Dealers aren't even accepting 22/23 trades because of the issue and toyota dealerships can't sell impacted inventory until their is a fix. I bought the extended warranty because i planned to have this 15 years but not if an engine blows!
On that short a driver you will not get the diesel up to operating temps, especially in cold weather. That will affect mileage.
Check out the 2024 Trail Boss edition. VERY similar to the AT4 and one helluva a LOT cheaper.
@robedmund9948 thanks for the comment. Will check that out!
Sounds like you’re trying hard to not love it. I think it’s a hell of a step up from your broken car.
You’re right I agree
That must be a great buddy to let you borrow a 2024 truck
How much DEF did you have to fill with on those trips?
Mine runs about a gallon per 1000 miles, add a trailer and it drinks a lot more.
It's about $4.70 in NYC.
Here In Washington State, prices are way over $4.00 a gallon.
Same here north east. 4.2-4.7
Diesel is 3.69 in east central Florida
AT4 isn’t what you displayed at the beginning on the MPG guide.
$4.00 a gallon is insanely cheap lol. It’s like $6 in LA
Im in California, that price is cheap to me.
Oh you’re cool 🚮
Mf bιτching about gas prices as if he isn’t driving a 5000lb truck, and the entire planet isn’t dealing with fuel shortages as well. Bιτchιng about the roads as well. Have you seen I-75? Michigan has been building that up ever since I left for the Marines.
3.0 seems like a nice engine though. My buddy who’s a technician in Flint has other opinions about it, but I have hopes for it.
I wonder if your roads are as horrible as Colorado? Our governor doesn't do shit for fixing anything
Only in the areas that “matter” to the donors who keep getting the “progressives” elected. The poorer people outside of the wealthier parts of town don’t get equal distribution of the weed wealth.
jetta to a truck? go back to a car buddy and leave the trucks for guys who actually need them
It’s 2024 even the s likes of you can drive a pick up
Ok Karen.
I mean, if you want all the millionaires to get more tax cuts and a President that refuses to hold gas companies accountable for price gouging then watch who you vote for. Turned off your video right after those comments.
Sorry you are misguided and offended brother, wishing you the best
