Wife and i walk everyday with our cat, and people are always amazed when they see it.
My cat, who was a rescue, who would bite and scratch anyone that touched her, but has never done this to either my son or myself. Travels with us where we go in the car, in her own carrier. We have even taken her camping with us, only thing was she didnât want to get up on the cold morning, loved being in the doona. We also so took her with us when we stayed in a caravan park, she was great. We camp in a tent. She finds her spot waits for us to return then canât stop patting us when we get back. By the way she named herself, refused to answer to the name Smokey and when asked in desperation, well what is your name she said Meeu and stalked off. So Meeu she is, and she answers to this no matter where she is. Oh and doesnât mind being in the shower with us.
That cat is more athletic than me
All cats are more athletic than humans. I mean no human can always twist mid air to always land on their feet after dropping 20 times their body height and not be hurt. Most can jump like 3-5 times their height without breaking a sweat. They can climb basically anything, you can't trap them unless you use tools/traps.
Humans have like zero chance of catching a cat with their bare hands due to how much more athletic cats are compared to us humans.
So yeah. Saying a cat is more athletic than even you makes no sense. Cats are just smart and don't waste energy all day for no reason, they need it for those bursts of energy for mad jumps and dashes/kills. Even though cats have been domesticated, theyre still part of the cat family and thus possess predator instincts and mentality.

What's weird is i recently learned the average healthy cat has a higher top speed than Usain Bolt, even though they can't keep up for long. That's insane!

My daughter and I started taking our cats with us when we go walking and hiking too. Now they actually get excited to go in their carrier cause they know it means itâs time for some adventure!

I love this story !!! I have an orange tabby cat Angelo and every time my husband and I go away I feel so bad to leave him behind so we just started taking them to our condo in New Hampshire itâs a 2-3 Hour Dr. and heâs never been in the car besides going to the vet which is a very short journey only five minutes down the street and he did really well a little nervous at times
there is a lot of traffic Noise
but overall he did really well and we plan to take him again on our next adventure to our condo đ. I miss him so much when heâs home

We have a tuxedo kitten - most likely from feral parents. She is feisty, athletic, not afraid of anything. Would probably make a great adventure cat if you could get a leash on her. However, just getting her in a cat carrier to go to the vet is a challenge involving scratches and bites on the arms and hands. Nevertheless, she will stay with us. No intention of sending her out or to an animal shelter. Who knows? With a little more domestic life and assurance, maybe adventure is in her future.
Tuxedo cats tend to be very mischievous. My brother's tuxedo cat Trixie loves to chase a laser point around, especially bounding up walls to "catch it". When in the mood she will sit in the same place on a coffee table in the living room, while waving both of her paws in the air for 5 or 10 seconds, and again, and again until she gets what she wants. One of 3 cats, each has it's own stash of favorite toys they will bring to you once they get to know you. Oh by the way, Trixie was a stray who simply invited herself in one cold winter morning ran up the stairs into the kitchen like she owned the place. Well she does now.
Donât give up! We have a new kitten (9 months) and she did not want to be in her harness. It was a struggle to get it on, and when we did she would just lay in her side. But when we picked her up and put her outside, she was so excited to be outdoors that she seemed to forget she even had the harness on and would just sit and look around at first, then she would walk around slowly, sniffing and âhuntingâ the birds nearby. After a couple weeks she walks longer distances and is exploring more. Iâm hoping to walk trails with her soon :) I assume the younger you start em the quicker they adapt

My folks had a cabin in the mountains when I was in college. I had two cats that came with me when I would go to visit my parents. We used to go for walks with their dog and my two cats. They would run ahead or climb trees or sniff butterflies, but they Always kept up with us and never strayed too far. It was fun for them and us.

I feel the same way about the Grand Canyon. When I was 25, I hiked down, slept at the bottom, and ascended the next day. Those last couple hundred yards consisted of a lot of crawling on all fours. However, what a life-changing memory it was. Nothing great happens without sacrifice I guess?

Rest of the day, he is sleeping or eating and at night he is hunting. That's a happy, normal cat life. This kind of lifestyle is only good for people, but not the cat.

My cat RIP used to go for long hikes in the gorges around Ithaca NY with me, off leash. I had to train him with a leash at first as he didn't know how to get out of trees when first introduced to the outdoors, but he became trustable off leash and a lot of fun. He sometimes got stuck in the gorges but trusted me to catch him. Good memories.
I am so happy more and more people take their cats along in Nature. I have always taken the cats with me in leasure trips (for 30 years) they ALL wanted to go. They always wanted to participate to whatever is going on (granted they were not always helpingđ)
I was under yhe impression that long hair cats are not as keen to climb trees, I have thought it may just be uncomfortable: the hair on their belly rubbing on the tree trunk. They do use the trees as scratching post though. I also make sure they do not scratch pine trees.
