Msfisherqueen1 agreed. No one will ever come close to being the count. Bela Lugosi WAS Count Dracula. I teach a film studies course in high school. I agree with you. I teach him as an exemplar of exemplar acting

@@sociopathsurvivor7129 yes he played a Count I think people overlook he was not just playing a vampire not all vampires would have that regal way and mannerisms it was because of who he was in life that his undead character was the way he was. Like imagine if the Count of Monte Crisco was undead.

when filmmakers produced greatness without cgi, dolby surround sound & needless explosions.
no blood and gore no profanity no nude sex scenes just great acting, editing, set designes, and plot.
most importantly no 2 1/2 to 3 hrs runtimes.
Dracula was about 1hr 15minutes.Both Bela lugosi and Dwight Frye have been immortalized by their eerie mesmerizing performances.

what I also loved about the movie is the quietness of it, no background music , and for some reason the restored versions have not one but two different tracks of endless music .. early talkies had enough to deal with without adding this , besides the public would be looking around for the orchestra .. it was a very different world ..

The old woman crosses herself in the Roman Catholic way, not the Eastern Orthodox way most likely in Romania. Very few Eastern Orthodox in America and even fewer in Hollywood, so an understandable error. You could say Transylvania is heavily ethnic Hungarian and so she could be Roman Catholic, but about half of the Hungarians were Protestant (Reformed).
