    good job ,,,,for the first time on my 2012 i let the dealer do it cause i never did a CVT ,so here it goes ,,,,,THE DEALER takes 3 new gallons or what ever those jugs where its made for cvt ,,,,they simply fill it 3 TIMES and DRAIN IT 3 TIMES ,,no changing of nothing and it was expensive above 200 or not far from it ,,,,,,and i asked them you dont change filters or pan gaskets ? THEY SAID NOT ON CVT TRANS ,,,,go figure ,,,just saying how they do it at the professional level LOL ,,,,,so now i am at 100k you bet your ass i can do just as good as they did for sure LOL ,,,,,its really just as easy as the old days ! god bless all and thanks for helping

    Make sure you are keeping track of how much fluid you are taking out so you know how much to put in! Easy way is to have an old container you can pour the old fluid into. Also you should start the car go from P,N,R,D and back a few times and check the fluid levels again.
    Not to mention you want to clean off the residue from the previous gasket before installing the new one. Not a bad idea to add some RTV or gasket maker when applying the gasket for easy install and to ensure it doesn’t leak on you

      I hear this all the time and it's stupid advice. What if the fluid was over or under filled? lol You're just making the same mistake again. Like Nissan can't tell you how much fluid is supposed to be in the transmission? lol Ridiculous.

    • @bobbyd6680
      @bobbyd6680 Před rokem

      @@the_original_skytiger The purpose moron, is to avoid overfill. You can always add small amounts, but removal is more difficult and damaging to the CVT seals. You'd know of an overfill condition by checking the dip stick prior to working on it. This is common and correct with any partial transmission fluid change.

    • @bobbyd6680
      @bobbyd6680 Před rokem +1

      Good point, except I'd avoid any RTV for trans gaskets. That's just me, to avoid any contamination. These Nissan CVTs seem a bit 'sensitive' as it is.

    I see so many people do this service, and they do not change the other filter. They just change the strainer in the pan. They are thinking these are like the old geared automatic transmissions and they are not changing the most important filter. That is probably the problem people watching others doing it wrong, and it just keeps getting passed along.

      @@jakegonz9866 this is a CVT, using the wrong fluid WILL ruin it. 08-13 needs NS-2, and so on. if you put in plain ATF it wont have the proper pressures and lubrication and would prematurely wear it. cant repair a CVT, because when it goes bad it simply self destructs (belt snaps, throws metal all around the inside) so youd have to replace the whole thing if it goes wrong

      @@brothersauto5055 Well, considering the fluid is actually at the appropriate level. I bought 9 quarts and will be replacing the filter, just like you did. From what I'm seeing, it might take approximately 6qt. Do you happen to remember how much it took in your case? I was just curious since most people are not dropping the pan, nor replacing the filter.
