This is awesome!!! TFL out here putting out amazing content day after day after day!!! Loving the set up of this rig!!!
I've started a channel where I take trucks up in to the mountains and go off road, probably wreck a few trucks along the way. Gunna try and make a few people laugh.
That is a nice set up. Crossing fingers for electric generator air conditioner so the camper does not cook inside the tent
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Beckham Keagan Instablaster =)
@Mohammad Nehemiah I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Yes - trailboss!
Please don't give up!!! I was SO looking forward to your trip! AT LEAST POSTPONE IT??
Best chase vehicle everrrr ! 🤘🏻🍻
100% Disagree. The Land Cruiser would have been the best. ;) No warranty needed.
@@WW-wf8tu I would have taken that over any of these other vehicles.
Much better idea. Ditching the rover is smart...Plus now you have a mid size, full size, and heavy duty truck for the excursion. I just think that is more interesting to see the differences out and about on the journey.
You guys should put a 100 gallon transfer tank in the bed. That way you’ll be able to feed the Ford, Jeep, Chevy and the generator without having to mess with gas cans.
Thats a lot of weight for just a half ton truck. They would have to do some serious upgrades to the suspension. Plus they'd be sleeping directly over top of a potential fire hazard.
@@alexpuls8219 a half ton truck should be able to carry 1300lbs no problem. The issue is carrying that much weight off-road in the bed.
@mike a it might not be a problem normally. But off road it might struggle. 600 lbs worth of fuel and a 160 lb roof top tent plus all the gear they would be hauling in the Trail boss. Probably close to 1000 lbs all together. And still a significant fire hazard to be sleeping directly over top of.....
You might run into some legal problems if you added that to your truck.
Finally a Trail Boss video
Cool...it's a 5 star TFL Hotel 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Nice...looks good on the Chevy☺
Roman like a true boss, comes at the end, tells it is such an easy job and close of the video with all the glory. Classic !!!!!😎
YES!! ITS ABOUT TIME YOU USE THE TRAILBOSS!! Trailboss all the way!!!
Finally something good
I love the lockpickinglawyer
I love the Landy!!!! & I was thinking the same thing during installation about the lockpick lawyer
Welcome to the Meter-High Club!!
Planning on turning my Boss 'Rado into an Overlander! Thanks for the motivation to start early. Wife is gonna be real happy /s
Go up to Alaska.. and prudhoe bay! Wilderness and tough roads!
Dude what an awesome video and setup!!
Great! Thanks for posting!
That was an awesome idea the subscribers have you to take the Trail Boss as a chase vehicle. Thanks TFL. Great install of the nest Andre, Alex & Chase.
cant wait for the series!!
Enchanted Rockies Trail!
Nicely done. Thanks
Cool video I may have to get a tent like this for my truck
I love the comradery between you guys! It’s like going to work with your best friends!
"We have a lot of trim, lot of rubbers". Sounds like a party.
You guys are my new favorite😉
Great job as always Andre. Thanks
TFL should look into doing the Oregon Trail!
I hope you guys post more soon. This is one of my favorite channels to watch! Great idea switching to the Trail Boss but you guys should still take the Land Rover as well.
Totally got that wrong. The LR3 proves that you don't need a $50,000 truck with $10K in upgrades to make this journey. In fact that tent and bed rack alone ($4K) is almost the cost of that Land Rover, and in this covid economy, doing more with less is the way to go.
I have a 2020 trail boss this is perfect
Such a great video TFL ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Im so glad you guys are modding the Trail Boss. Gotta build this one up more than the Ram Rebel you had. I want to see videos of this truck every day!!!!
Cool set up I went with the Yakima 👍
Looking forward to what you guys come up with!
Andre is the man!
Finally!! I mean FINALLY!!!! Trail Boss has just been neglected for not getting a upgrade.
It has no love
I'm a huge fan of the iKamper tents over the Roofnest or even Yakima... Easy to set up and the new ones have an amazing matress. THe Skycamp is a nice semi rigit, but I prefer the X-Covers (they have 4 windows, so bit better on warmer climates like Utah). Even the full size would bit on a Jeep Gladiator. I have a X-Cover Mini I got for my Wrangler Rubicon. but gonna see if a full size one would fit as well. Took it to Alaska, and it was a blast! (the X-Cover 2.0 Mini)
The fellas at TFL are always giving us some awesome content to be able to make more informed decisions regarding most things truck, and overland related. As usual, i appreciate y’all’s hard work and sharing your first hand experiences. Currently truck shopping so it’s doubly helpful.
Roman if Tommy wants to drive the junker I will volunteer to drive the Trailboss. Nice thing with the open bed you can put a fuel transfer tank and a decent air compressor tank to help fill all of the vehicles tires when going back on road. Hope you find a trail and can get out there this summer. You may need to take bits and pieces of trails to go and stay out of towns except to fuel and food. Stay safe, how is the pup?
Trail Boss will do great!! Glad you guys at TFL went with the Silverado 👍🏻👍🏻
Install a tool box transfer tank in the Chevy, lockable storage and extra fuel. And unless there are travel restrictions I am unaware of, you should be okay to do the trip. It's not like truck stops are closed.
Huh that might even work with my toolbox
Another entertaining episode. I really enjoy your raw/candid dialog in your episodes. I like how you don't edit the little things out. It truly creates the genuine view the average person would have doing installs like this. That being said, it did catch Tommy's disappointment on swapping the chase truck. :-) Keep up the great work on all your channels!
Those patterns on the rubber strip at the top of the rack are vital to reduce wind noise, they really work.
I love the Trailboss, I'm glad you've decided to switch out the Defender. I'm much more interested in how a near stock Trailboss stacks up against two heavily modified trucks while Overlanding.
What about the continental divide trail via over-landing somehow. New Mexico to Montana. Just a thought. Love the work. Thanks
Come to Western NY. We’re open here.
Nice! Great to see more action with the trail boss. Great addition to the truck. I thought it did quite well in stock configuration vs a modified jeep.
Cool chase truck and new roof nest truck top camper. Impressive RTT. Thank you for showing the detail.
So disappointed that we will not be able to see how the Land Rover LR3 would’ve performed.
I’m also curious to see how that Thule rack will survive. As compared to other overland bed racks it doesn’t look too secure.
The LR3 would make that journey boringly simple. I did this journey in my LR4 2 years ago.
Always use locktite on your crews.
Nice job on the install. Glad to see the Trail Boss replacing the Land Rover. I think Tommy will "see the light" and realize it will prove to be the better chase vehicle.
Tommy is very smart. He already has seen the light. ;). It is by pressure from other viewers that has pushed them back into the cave. Everyone there knows the LRD is far more comfortable of a road trip vehicle than any of them bloody trucks.
Tommy will never see the light lol anything but Chevy gmc for tommy lol
Nice!
Much better choice than the Land Rover, because this is a TRUCK channel.
Easy. Easy! In my humblest of opinions, any pickup or SUV that's BoF can be called a truck. Fight me!
The pink stuff on the bolts is lock tight
Finally... Trail Boss should be on trip and leave Land Rover behind, have been saying this for many vids. You got it right!
Well, I have been saying they should have kept the Land Cruiser for many vids and ditched the LRD. I don't think they really care what anyone says. :P. IF their actions were dictated by a poll, they would never get anything done. ;).
Looks good. I guess my one issue with racks of this kind is that they prevent the use of a tonneau cover. When you are driving around the back country, everything gets coated with dust. So all your gear must be in dust proof and waterproof containers plus you get to have fun cleaning it all when you get home. I've seen some racks that are compatible with tonneau covers but most aren't height adjustible (so you can still get in the garage with your tent). Some say they do not provide as much lateral support when bouncing around rough trails because they mount on thin metal rails attached to the bed rails. Some day I'd love to turn my Silverado into an overlanding rig. Have fun!
TFL should get rid of the Gladiator before the frame bends.
My man sporting the OP sunglasses!
A GMC Sierra At4 with a diesel custom into a overlander would be cool to see.
That nest tent is more of a 3 star hotel to some of the hotels I've seen...lol! Great video guys.
If you guys need tools maybe you contact Tekton tools and see if you can work out a deal with them. They are great tools for the money and red is also their color of choice. I love the Red Trail Boss.
The rooftop tent should have been applied to the roof of the double cab, allowing room for cargo carriers, fly & fishing rods holders, and maybe a kayak over the rear bed of the pickup.
As a decked storage unit, a bed cover with a bicycle rack in the hitch for Tommy's mountain bike and its a complete "Overlanding" vehicle.
Check out the official Overland routes advertised in Washington State.
Very cool set up...good job setting it up !! I trust they have this for an f150 ?
Im sure they do
This is a great idea and it will be fantastic to see the disadvantage of the stock Chevy vs the built Ford and Jeep. It will be very interesting to see how having a truck without the lift and oversize tires effects your choices in trails and how many times it needs to be recovered in the more difficult terrain. Far more people have stock vehicles than ones with 5k to 15k+ worth of suspension upgrades.
I like how you put links in the description for the products you used in this episode.... Oh wait, you didn't!
Also, put some rubber caps on the bolts hanging down from the tent mounts. It will save you a headache or contusion.
I bought my 2020 6.2 trail boss the other day thanks to your guys videos and feedback to all the trucks it helped me make my decision !! You guys are the business hahaha keep up the videos guys 🙏🏽
Use blue loctite so the bolts don't back out.
Head west! The Cascades or awesome, head up to Mt. Rainier after that. Maybe straight north to chase some bison in Montana.
Wondering if the tent can be rotated 90 degrees, so that the ladder faces the back, and both side windows open?
Was there a noose to open up the garage at 12:47 ?
Better hurry. Window for running the full TAT is closing due to weather.
Ssshhh. Don't tell em that. I want to see 3 tons of Ford Truck wallowing in the mud.
I don't understand the "pro" of an RTT over a ground tent when they say your above all the "creepy crawlies". A ground tent also keeps creepy crawlies out. The only pro I see is maybe a slightly faster setup, but the cons are that you now have to climb up and down a ladder (have fun doing that at night when ya gotta use the restroom), a lot more money for the whole setup (rack and RTT), and then the reduced MPGs of all that drag. Am I getting this wrong?
TFL talking about Lock Picking Lawyer? Hell yeah lol
The Condor and Condor XL by Roofnest are pretty new, it'd be great to have tagged it or mentioned it in some way. Videos on the new Condor are few and far between. They did their own walk through on the tent which was great, but I'd love to see you guys do a video on your first impressions using it, maybe a 1 or 2 night off the grid quick camping trip?? Tommy did look bummed about the Land Rover, that rig has been growing on me too.
when are starting the series
Can you get these for a mid-size truck?
16:37 Tommy: genuinely disappointed
Roman: Son, we have to pay the bills. We can piss off tea-sipping LR people, but not beer drinking GMers
Nice backing music chaps. Roof nest is making me feel very sleepy 😴
With Covid it should be much easier to do it. You are outdoors, away from people and so on. Don't listen to the media and scare you. Perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy.
I don't think it was media that scared them. They have been defiant for over a month now and back to business per usual. There are probably regulations in some states they don't want to have to deal with. Such as wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. Looks bad on camera ya know. ;).
I wonder how the Thule system would interface with the Decked system. Looks like it may need to be positioned higher. Anyway, great content.
How about off-road to Alaska through Canada. You’re allowed to cross borders are going to Alaska
No replacement for the NPN trip! Still do it we can wait! But in the mean time, yes do shorter trips if it’s all financially feasible
So is that the Condor or Condor XL?
You can record the videos in the tent while driving (:
2 thumbs up.
Smart decision. Trailboss is a lot more reliable than the Land Rover, won’t survive the trip without engine trouble or airbag malfunctioning. Always trust Chevy trucks. Tent and rack system looks awesome on the Trailboss. Great job, Andre and TFL.
Are y’all taking the TAT? Trans America trail? That would be a great show.
Yes, that was the original plan. However, state virus regulations are making it very difficult.
The Fast Lane Truck ugggg. Well crud. Have fun.
As far as I know there are no travel restrictions, right? Hell, down here in my neck of the TAT (GA), our dumb asses don't believe in science, so I know WE aren't going to be a problem for you.
Bummer. Hope to watch the TFL crew off roaring a cross the nation. I understand. Got to be safe.
I was thinking about why you guys weren’t using the Trail boss on your trip. Seems to of been forgotten, until now!
Just go. Driving the TAT is the ultimate in social distancing road travel. When near others, wear a mask and wash your hands. Just go go go!
Take the Discovery! Come on Tommy, you know you know it’s the best vehicle of the bunch!
I want Tommy to go rogue and follow along in the LR3 LOL, just like the Top Gear special episodes when the VW Beetle is loitering in the background.
I'd be really curious to know how the rack alone affects the mileage of the vehicle. I know on SUVs just having an empty roof mounted rack will easily drop you a few mpgs, but sure about a bed mounted one.
Screw the land rover. Thanks guys for putting a truck that the common viewer would like to watch
What model Roof Tent is this?
What about similar mods to the Ford and Jeep. Suspension and upgrades wheels and tyres
Do the Arizona peace trail that the light Brite nation just did.
If you guys just go off road in Colo. that will suck! Come on!
When will you guys be coming through Alabama?
