@JaydainStitches can I do this with just 1 color
HI,
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW TOO.
CAN IT BE DONE WITH ONE COLOR?
I wish I could send you some pics
Can this one be "infinitely" bigger? Like what would you're smallest or largest square recommendation be for this particular square.
Without Jayda I wouldn’t know how to make a granny square. I have been crocheting for years but I never could make the granny square. Jayda is the best teacher because she makes everything so easy because she explains everything as she goes and it’s never to fast. She is such an amazing teacher.
Yeah me too!
Thank you so much! 💗
Hi jayda, I had to stop to say I LOVE YOU ❤ and all because you came up with what I was looking for almost a half a year..😊 you always, always never disappoint...you are a born genius 🎉Now I can make my throw blanket in what I love to do...I only have 2 colors and this stitch has no big gaping holes which, sorry to say!!! I don't like at all
So beautiful lady who is a true genius....I salute you 👏 ❤ 🙌 and thank you, thank you, thank you for being the gem of a person you are,and like all my other mentors in the you tube crocheting teachers I have watched and learned from....stay blessed 🙌 and may only successes and countless blessings be with you forever ❤🎉Keep on being inspirational and motivational
May you and your family always be happy and blessed❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🙏🙏🙏
Hi Anisha, thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear you like this square design (it's SO fun) and it definitely makes a nice dense square 😊 Have fun with your blanket!
Your explanation is amazing. Very simple to understand though the granny square seems so complex.
Hi Priya, thank you so much!
Very interesting and pretty block. Have to concentrate so much while working it. No TV etc while stitching it!
There's definitely a rhythm to it!
You are so delightful!!! And this square is awesome 🤩
Hi! Thank you for watching 😊
This is my favorite block this year!
Woohoo!!! 😃 I'm so happy to hear that!
I've just started watching this and can already see that this would be a great 2 color gradient throw. Go from darkest, or lightest blue and pink, for example, to the lightest, or darkest colors. Love it ❤
I thought the same! 💜
Beautiful idea!
This is a beautiful block. I was nervous when I saw it. I have to admit, after last month's block I was scared to click on the video. This was different but easier.
Hi Sonia! This square is like the mug of cocoa to last month's fizzy pop 😂 Thank you for watching 😊
So cute! Because I’ve gotten buttons on my brain still, from yesterday’s LiveStream, this would look adorable on a button! 😂
Thank you again Jayda! 💜🌸🙇🏻♀️
* lightbulb * ohmygosh! Great idea Su!
Hi Jayda and Mr institches thank you for all the videos you both do and put out on here I have been enjoying each video and I get a good laugh each time I have made several of the projects you have done and my family have all loved the crochet items I have made and given to them as gifts. You both are my favorite people to watch on here from a big fan in Connecticut where we just had today an earthquake thank you both again have a great weekend
She is the best teacher and she takes the time.
Thank you so much Marie 💗
Thank you!!
Wooo! Time for the next one! Thanks Jayda and Mr. InStitches for great videos! I loved the little shell dance at the beginning, Jayda. Made me chuckle a little. Can't wait to make this one!
Happy April!! 😃
I like two colors. Now I have to change my blanket concept a bit, because I was making all solid squares. But this will probably not look out of place, and I can try a solid to see how it looks.
Hi Kristen! You can absolutely make this in ONE colour, it looks really neat, the texture of the square shows more than the mitered effect ... try it!
@@JaydaInStitches I uploaded my squares on Instagram. One is a solid color, and you are right that it looks good. 👍
I love this block! Thank you 😊
Hi Brenda! Thank you for watching 😊
Absolutely love this can't wait for next onth
Wonderful! It's hard to believe it's coming soon!
Hi, Jayda and Mr!! I can't tell you how much I enjoy y'all!!! I'm self-taught and always learning - i can read a pattern but it really helps to see the process. I have a blanket in mind with this granny but I'd love to see, like, at least four squares together to see how they would come together - to see if it would work in reality the way it looks in my head - LOL! Has anyone put several of these squares together?
Hi! We will have photos very soon of some folks who have made 4 and have them together 😁 You can also look up "Mitered Granny Square blankets" to see how the mitered effect looks when you put a bunch of these sort of square together. It looks REALLY neat!
Thank you, Jayda! I like the April grannysquare. If possible, I'd like to see you use your original 3 colors, blue yellow and white, in this Granny square. I'm curious to see what color you'd start with.
Hi Cathy! If I did it, I would start with the colour that I feel I've used the MOST of so far. This is a way that I help to balance out the usage of my yarn over the course of a year. So knowing that a colour would be used twice in a 6 row square (with 3 colours) I'd begin with the colour that I feel I have used a little more of, so that I use a little less of it in this square.
Hi This square is interesting one. When I first saw it I thought No way can I make that. You changed my mind and it is a favorite one for me now.
That's fantastic! I'm so happy to hear that Reanne!
I did two the first night it came out! I am agonising over the wait for the next square! One a month is not going to keep me going! 😅
Hi Naomi!! Happy April 🌞!
This is my next blanket !! Now to choose my colors !! Thank You for another great video 📷 !! ❤ It !!
Wonderful! Thank you for watching Teerae 😊
I’m going to try it in one colour see how it goes
Its cool, the mesh stitch pattern stands out because you're not "distracted" by colour changes 😊
I was doing this calendar blanket then this video. I'm looking at the remains of my yarn stash and the squares I've made so far. I'm definitely going to continue with the squares (I love grannies!), but I'm thinking that this pattern would make an awesome blanket all on its own. I've been stumped on my next blanket project (something to alternate between the one I've already made and the one I've wanted to make when that gets washed) for some time ... this might be it! Thank-you, Jayda!
Absolutely! This is a cozy, dense square. You could change colours throughout for different effects and make it as big as you wanted!
Thank you so much for another great square installment. I love this. 😍
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
This square is awesome ❤
Thank you Michelle 😊
Haha ,I love this! Its like April fools ( you just get started with one color and April fool and you change! ) haha love it thank you
😁 Thank you for watching!
I haven't started yet, but I think I'm going to like making this one! Easy, yet interesting. I like how it turns out with a cross in the middle, to remind me of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jayda!!! =)
Hi Dawson!
Woohoo! I'm so excited to get this square completed
😃
Hi Jayda, interesting block. TY for your easy to understand tutorial.
Hi Diane! Thank you for watching 😊
Very impressive pattern. 2 colors are very nice. ❤
Thank you Rose 💗! 😊
Scared but willing to try. Thank you.
You can do it! Just relax and find the rhythm 🥰
Oh wow my squares have all been 3 colors
Me too...but this is cool... just not sure how to make it fit in...but.... 3 colors ???
You can do it! I just recommend trying the 2 colour version first to get the hang of it - you might only need to do a few rows (a sampler) not the whole square 😊
@@JaydaInStitches thank you so much this pattern for the squares is becoming my fav. My other is the miter one, I made a whole blanket with that pattern. God Bless
Done 🎉 😊 I really liked this one! I’m using self striping cake yarn for this project so no colour changing for me but I love how square this square is. It is great for baby blankets because of the minimal holes. I’m sure I’ll try the colour changing at some point it looks really cool, but it is still a very interesting pattern either way! 🧶💜😍
I love how your squares turned out Chelle!
Ok Jayda. I’m watching it first taking notes. Then I’ll get my two colors and work one with you 🧶. 🤞🤞
Great strategy Cheryl! I always recommend that: read/watch the pattern all the way through and then start 😊
This is so cool. Im gonna make it.❤
Hi Jean!
Hi, Jayda!
From Brazil🇧🇷
Hi Rita!
Black and neon….black and a neon striped…could make for a stained glass look? 🤔
Oooh YES!
Love this square!
Happy April Yvonne!
This pattern is so pretty that I'm going to google it and see if anyone tried to make a blanket with a bunch of these squares sewn together.
As I'll be using mostly different colors I decided to drew myself a color chart for the first of my four squares.
And a little question for anyone willing to share their thoughts: what's your plan for sewing the squares together, especially if you're making more than one per month? Are you going to sew them in rows by month or are you going to mix all of them by the end of the year?
I can't make up my mind on that, especially since I played with colors for each of my four montly squares.
HI,
I'm doing five squares, with red heart ombre, keeping them in order of the color, and sewing them by the month that I made all five for each month.
Plus I'm doing a all solid granny square with red heart color block yarn, rainbow. I'm working it the same way. Five squares in order of the color. I'm using the invisible stitch, in the back loops only to stitch together.
Hi Jane! This is, to the best of my knowledge, a unique square because I designed it to fit with the blanket (and haven't come across this design anywhere else in my granny travels) BUT there are plenty of mitered granny square designs out there and you might have some luck googling "mitered granny square blankets" to get a good idea of how putting mitered squares together will look 😊
That is a very cool looking !
I love the corner effect!
Good morning everyone!
Hi Mandi!
This one was so simple even though it looked like a challenge. I’ve enjoyed each month so far! Thanks for the fun and doing this so we can be part of a big group, makes it more fun.
That's wonderful Bek! Thank you for stitching along with us 😊
hi jayda!! from County Meath in Ireland! my first time getting the live live at the correct actual live ztime 6:04 here!!!😂❤
Hi Fidelis!
I have to try and make a blanket out of this stitch thank you
Hi Debra! It's a lovely, dense square... and the mitered effect can be really neat too!
Really enjoyed this one of course I didn't try the 3 different colors. I think I might. .
Hi Sharon! I'm happy to hear it 😊
This is a beautiful pattern and I love it and I have made three squares but there is a section I can never get correct and it has to do with whatever I am doing wrong ending the row and going to the next row it never works out so I don't know what i am doing wrong
Hi Mary! What is the problem you're encountering at the end of the row? Things to remember:
1. change to the colour before ending the row that BEGAN the row (You began with Colour A, so you join with Colour A).
2. before you join the row to finish, be sure to bring colour B up to the front or top of the your stitch work and join with a slip stitch over top of this to make sure it's moved up to the new row.
3. ALL rows begin with Colour A. ALL Rows finish with colour A.
4. ALL Odd rows begin with a chain 3 which is the first DC in a SHELL
5. ALL Even rows begin with a chain 2 which is part of a DC2TOG (which stands in for a DC3TOG).
So pretty
Thank you Jan 😊
Howdy from Texas!
Hi Sue!
Love!! ❤❤
Can't wait to get started ☺️
Hi Teasea!!
Hello 👋. Just finishing up a square now 😁
That pretty
I like this pattern.
Hi Dawn! Happy April!
Do you have an alternative granny square for the miter granny square? I'd like all my squares to have three colors. And I agree that this pattern is best with a maximum of two colors.
Hi Cathy, you can technically make this with 3 colours (and I think it will max out at 3 if only because carrying more colours than that is a trial) but you can substitute in a totally different square if you like. You can use any of the previous grannies in this blanket project so far, any of the upcoming ones OR either of these:
Original Granny (we made this using 1 colours but this particular pattern style has the correct counts, you can change colours at any row # you like): czcams.com/video/nbR-VZIQ9hA/video.html

V-Stitch Granny: czcams.com/video/c8K1Pbv80uQ/video.html
I bought this month's pattern. Im probably going to make one square each month. Then take it to church as a lap/travel throw.
Hi Crystal! Thank you so much 💗 This would make a great lapghan, it's so warm and cozy!
Would this work with just a solid color?? I'm doing 4 of each square each month…3 mixed colors and one solid. 😊
I'm doing the same! I'm curious too.
Hi Marta, yes absolutely! It makes a very dense square that is similar but not exactly like a sold double crochet granny square. The texture of the square stands out in a solid colour 😁
Jayda, Do you know any tricks to keep the two yarns from becoming a tangled mess? I’d appreciate any tips you might have!!
I keep one ball of yarn above the other on the table next to me. I don't cross them during switches.
Hi Janet! I second what Dawson said 😊 I usually keep the 2 (or however many colours I'm using) sitting in a stationary position and I make sure that I always drop the front colour to the front and the back colour to the back.
❤❤
It looks like this square is a lot less complicated than March’s!!
It's just like thinking "turn on the light, turn off the light" 😁
I like this but my stitches are a little tight. 👍🐝🌼💃🎉
Hi Shirley! It's likely the changing colours that makes your tension a little tight. You can alleviate that by either using a larger hook or not pulling too much (or at all) on the colour you're switching to/from 😊
Love it! I think I decided on the colors I want to use for all the granny squares, so I shall be trying it out very soon. -- Masha
Hi Masha! Happy April 😁
Cute
Hi Charlene! Thank you for watching 😊
That cool
Thank you for watching 😊
You welcome
You welcome
My brain is upside down right side up, Upside down, right side up.....😅
Up, down, up, down 😁
I wonder how the corners would look if it was inverted shell one round next round normal shell
Hi! Alternating between inverted and regular shells keeps the stitch count even and creates a square. All shells would more than triple your stitch count and then all inverted would cut the stitch count by more than a 3rd. You wouldn't get a square shape, you'd get something that looks like a coral reef 😂
Hello everyone
Would this work with only one color of yarn?
Hi Lisa, yes! It doesn't show the "mitered corner" effect, but the texture of the square shines though very nicely 😊
I am guessing that this cannot be done in a solid color?
HI,
It can. Just a matter of which way to put the three double crochet. I'm doing mind In a ombre color.
Hi! It totally can, the texture of the square stands out more so than the cornering design 😊
What width is your square Jayda, I have done 5 rows and mine is 7inches
Hi Wendy! My squares are all more or less 8" (give or take a few millimeters!)
The blue and white square looks like a whale tail.
I like that!
