    Excellent video. I'm getting a lot of requests for these port repairs at this point. My one question is, what is your low melt point solder, and does it have any concentration of lead? I've been searching for a good low melting point solder to loosen these joints, but I've just not had a ton of luck. Also what do you use for a microscope?

    • @GetRefurbed
      @GetRefurbed  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey buddy. Thanks for watching. No low melt here. Just plain old 63/37 leaded Kester. The board take a ton of heat, not so bad once they're heat soaked which is why I tend to use the hot drop method. Less stress on the board.

    Xcellent Vid! 👍🏻just about to do my first PS5 HDMI repair. Ordered some No Clean Flux Paste in syringe dispenser, have variable hot air gun and following your guide. 09:55 "come in with the hot air clean up where we've been, some 99% IPA". Are you using a stiff brush, hot air (from above?) and just IPA or is that flux? 🤔 Keep on Keeping On 👏🏻

      @youngwolf421 Před 6 měsíci

      Did you successfully repair it. I have another even touched solder before and soon going to attempt this and was wondering what tools you used or that I should use. I know i need a good flux, solder, hot air, soldering gun.

    • @heath2byte
      @heath2byte Před 5 měsíci

       @youngwolf421 I did thanx 👍🏻Not to put you off, but I wouldn't advise this as your first step into soldering. Take it to someone with experience in fixing HDMI on PS5. There is alot at stake when pointing that much heat at sensitive electronics (particular the tiny caps @ 09:39 and 11:11 ). Purchased No Clean Flux Paste in a Pneumatic Dispenser from Amazon. Already had a Wagner Furno 500 Heat Gun and 25W Soldering Iron. Never tackled anything as complex and even with years of experience with micro electronics it was daunting. This video was great for all the info I needed to do the job successfully. Working PS5 at the end of it! GL 🤞🏻

      @umranafzal2969 Před 8 měsíci +4

      Hi, I finally did it. Took me 2 days to do it. Main thing is you need patience as it took me about 5 mins to finally melt the solder on the hdmi.
      First tilt the board so the hdmi is facing down towards the floor. Heat it from other side. Eventually it will fall off due to gravity.
      Second heat the solder and use a solder sucker after about 5 mins to suck the solder off. Do all 4 and you’ll be left with 4 big holes. L the board cool down and then put the hdmi in and solder the joint. The solders that Sony have put on have a high melting point so you just got to be patience. Don’t start and stop after a minute or so. Be patience and have that gun pointed at it for about 5 mins, no kidding.

Last 2 you may not need if you can put the new HDMI in place whilst the solder is still hot and wet like in this video. If you can’t then you may need someone else to hold the hdmi in place very firmly whilst you solder. The pins on the jdmi need to be in contact with the pins on the board otherwise it won’t work.
      Just be careful that you only apply concentrated heat to the hdmi only as you could damage your ps5. Do it at your own risk.
