That's What Bilbo Baggins Hates!

- čas přidán 9. 12. 2006
- Just a quick video. From the 1980 animated film, The Hobbit. Here Bilbo meets the dwarves and they invite themselves to dinner. Anyone else notice that except for Thorin and Bombur, every dwarf has at least one twin?
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
"...but of course, they did none of these awful things."
I see whatcha did there 😏
Oh hush They were yeeting them in Jackson’s version😭😭
Fake lotr fans don’t know that this was a line from the book
@@wesleydraves1281 This is from the hobbit, but I agree!
@@AlexanderHamiltonTheOG they may have been throwing them around but it still seemed that they were still being careful not to break anything
Dwarfs: We are all at your service.
Bilbo: Ah wonderful! How have you all come to serve me?
Dwarfs: We will make sure none of the food in your larder gets rotten or spoiled!
LoL
That's pretty serviceable
So they sing a song about breaking plates bit they gently give each the other plates and washem. Thats Totally Intimadating
The song is meant to be in jest. i.e., the dwarves aren't being serious about breaking Bilbo's things.
Yeah it is
The dwarves aren't truly mean like that!
The song is irony! In the beginning,Bilbo was affeared, that the dwarfes will destroy his whole cave!
"Dwarves have a strange notion of perfection!"
- Bilbo Baggins
CHIP the glasses, CRACK the plates. There is a difference between mildly damaging something and completely breaking it.
A "Dumbledore Asked Calmly" moment if I'm not mistaken
They sing about such things, but never actually do them. Same as in the book.
FUCK THIS SHIT ISNSO AGGREVATING TKIEX
The movie adaption sure isn't perfect, but it's still a damn good movie in it's own right. I must have checked out the VHS from my library once a week when I was growing up. Excellent work.
It had the spirit, if not the details
@@johnprieto435 i think espacially an unexpected journey really nailed the feel
it's wonderful -- and MUCH better than the confused RotK one a few years later.
bro its way better than this shit lmao
@@johnprieto435 It had beautiful music, and an amazing atmosphere. I just wish they had more time to properly adapt it...
Bombur; a Dwarf that needs no introduction.
Gloin, father of Gimli was always special, he took off his hat like a true gentleman
I know its already been said, but loved hearing this again in the new movie.
It just sound so much better there
Yup
9 years ago wow
@@zxera9702 I know, it's insane...
Even though this version is truer to the text and how Tolkien envisioned it, I do like the movie's energetic version.
If they rhyme, they are brothers. Bofur and Bombur are also brothers with Bifur as their cousin. Fili and Kili are also Thorin's nephews.
I don't know why but this version of bilbo is adorable
i dont know why, but i feel bad for kili and fili...
well they are the youngest and they are the only ones to die in the book so we all feel bad for them
well yes other people die but trying not to spoil what happen at the end for those that still don't know.
@@2000392461 Their uncle Thorin died, too. So the three of 'em died. The other members survived (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies follows that detail) before some of 'em went ta Moria.
@@2000392461 Even dwarves pass away
Same
Back in the timeframe this was made in, animation was drawn frame-by-frame by hand. They were extremely limited in what they could do, which is why there's not so much motion in this version.
it's not really because the animation was done frame-by-frame, but because Rankin-Bass didn't have a very big budget and their overall style adapts to that. many other animations from the same decade and even before have much more fluidity
I am glad I wasn't alive for this, I would have nightmares from the dwarves
Same lol
When I read the book and the dwarves had thier little rhyme it was so much fun to sing along!
The dwarves look like a bunch on trees.
This has been stuck in my head for 2 weeks thanks to my civics teacher...THANKS A LOT MR. R
they did a REALLY GOOD JOB doing this song on the movie.
Thorin and company at your service. Dwalin, Balin. Kili, Fili. Dori, Nori and Ori. Oin sir and Gloin sir. Call him Bifur and him Bofur. And uh.. BOMBUR at your service
I have watched this so many times, I can recite the words to the song and the names of the dwarves.
This movie was my intro to Tolkien...I rented the VHS from Blockbuster and watched it so many times I worried my VCR would eat the thing.
I couldn't have laughed more with Dwalin's face hahahahaa 0:05
Yeas!😂
Here he dosen't resemble warrior at all!!😂😂
Beavis and Butthead
I remember watching this with my dad when I was little! Thanks for the memory's
The poor, little Hobbit. You've gotta feel bad for him.
He's not poor
I think he is
man, I love this movie! A real classic!
I wish they'd keep the songs in for the live-action "Hobbit" movie, but I doubt they'd do that.
Bet your glad you were wrong
@@cosmiko._ tbf the goblin town song was better in this one
@@Cakemarvelous absolutely
14 whole years ago..
Hey they actually got the color of Balin and dwalin's cloaks right
Yes I remember renting this from the library so many times. I loved the cartoon as a kid I just remember moms all ways renting it for me when I was a kid. The animation is awesome it’s something about it that is magical yet fascinating. Even the way the characters are drawn. It is calming and you fill like your the Hobbit and Gandalf is speaking to you. This is and awesome cartoon
0:33 Bombur looks very distraught that Bifur (I think it's Bifur) is passing that turkey to the others...
Were there turkeys in the Shire?
OMG POOR BOMBUR-
Oh wow, the animators that did The Last Unicorn (Topcraft, IIRC?) truly do have an insta-recognisable artstyle.
I forgot how insanely catchy this is for such a short song.
This is what we had even before the live action Lord Of The Rings!
You have made my night Missy!
The most polite potato men.
The artwork in this version was also the artwork of the movie the last unicorn
That song was in the actual book.
The animation in this reminds me of the last unicorn.
I think this is one of the tings the peter jackson trilogy does better
wow i had realize it since 1977 wow
I agree with you! But you must know its not an recent maked film.. This is the quality most people liked that day.. Admit its looks much better then the LOTR 1978 Film.. ;PP
Dear lord those are some freaky looking dwarves
Only after finishing all his cheese and endangering his crockery...
Its not really hard to tell which version is better
CHIP the glasses, CRACK the plates then Bilbo will become scary Bilbo and kill all the dwarfs if that happens.
South Park season 25 episode 2 brought me here.
When I first saw the movie(I didn't read the book then) I thought Bilbo was an old woman,
Philosphyfanatic lol
Me neither
The dwarves in the original hobbit book were actually very young or very old and not the best this is more related to Tolkien's than Jackson's is.
poor bilbo doesnt get uch better from there on :(
For some reason this song makes me bounce in my chair.
14 people did not have an awesome childhood.
hmmm ^^ happy childhood memories ^^
8 people are not at the dwarves service
No they’re not
Well there's no comparison there
This is the actual movie! It was made in 1980!
Never delete this
I thought kili was supposedly a black headed dwarf. "And bowed his head"
it was a 1977 film not 1980
Close enough

Oin and Gloin maybe :)
“Oh, Mip hates nasty arguments!”
Mip was based on Sam, not Bilbo, I do declare.
The hobbit would of worked better as an animation. I get that now
We have to perform this on Friday. I'm Nori, but no, I have no beard. xD
We still down? 😭

@AssassinTheHasson ...what does this have to do with bombour? :T
and thorin doesnt look like ulfric stormcloak.

Lol. I guess this is how he was supposed to look. Much older
Yup
Peter Jackson's Hobbit>>>>>>>>>this abomination
man i remember when the hobbit 1 came out in the movies i smoked a massive marijuana joint 1 minute before going to the cinema and then i had a huge panic attack in the cinema while watching the hobbit and didnt enjoy it at all
First off, Frodo was in the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit was Bilbo. The goblins and hobbits never became "friends." I'm not sure what song you're talking about.
This looks creepy! XD
@DrakeSpyro
sounds like MY best friends anyway....minus the awesome adventure to a dragon's lair though....
New stim
I can’t tell if those dwarves travelers, or freeloaders
@BlankingBlanks Those thirteen dwarves could outtroll those three trolls they meet later any day of the week.
At least they didn't break any of plates.
Someone link their Soundcloud plz, dis shit fire
The HOBBIT was from 1977 not 1980. It's sequel THE RETURN OF THE KING was from 1980.
wtf, they all look the same 😭
They look like garden gnomes
I can’t believe that this follows the book better than the trilogy.
@@crusader2603 I’m not talking musically, I’m talking plot wise.
and why they were made. I just had to prove a point.
This song is so much better then the new one in the new movie. I grew up with this little movie. Still great.
Me quedo eternamente con la trilogía de Peter Jackson.
Por dios, que son estos enanos? Parecen sacados de Blancanieves de Disney jajaja
9 people are hated by Bilbo
this was really funny in the movie.
The dwarves look scary
Can you stop that you will blunt em
Oh, do you hear that, lads? He says we'll blunt the knives!
The Hobbit looks better on standard definition and on the standard TVs, the 1991, 1996, and 2001 VHS editions, and the 2001 DVD than on HD and the newer DVDs. Do you think so?
This guy hasn't changed his profile pic or uploaded in 12 years. This video is older than my brother
I still find myself randomly humming this song
The hell did I just see
@SoldierFortune23: and etc., and etc., and etc... ;)
I've always loved this part of the movie.
Mom I’m home….
I definitely prefer the live action version of the Hobbit. Ik it’s not a perfect adaptation and really should have only been a duology instead of a trilogy. But I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as the Harry Potter movies.
I also love all of the Dwarves in this movie, something that lacked in the LOTR and their light hearted humour makes me love them so much more. The animation of the dwarves is actually more faithful to the book but I think a few of them could have been better.
The song is also okay but the live action one does it way better xx
FUCK YEAH BOMBOUR!
Original lyrics by J.R.R Tolkien.
@AssassinTheHasson No. Bombour. The dwarf...
and they did..lol
